Try stretching your line by tieing the end to a fence and walk about you’re distance to your casting distance and stretch and hold the tightrope and this will make you’re line with better than before
@WhereWeWildКүн бұрын
Yeah that works well with mono and fluoro for sure. 😊🤙🏽 Braid on the other hand not so much because it has no stretch, and that’s the stuff that gives me problems on my spinning reels. So annoying haha I’ve tried line conditioning sprays, I’ve tried spooling it on certain ways. But I think no matter what I try to do it’s just because of how the spinning reel works and it just twists that line whenever you reel in and the bait spins as well and it builds up a twist in the line. Some call it wind knots. Some line twist. It kind of just seems unavoidable sometimes.

All these big "box stores" and internet shopping have been the downfall of America's small businesses. I've said for years that we chase cheapest prices (usually junk imo) and allow these big chains to corner the market. They've pretty much got it done in our small towns. Grocery stores, lumber yards and hardware stores are gone. We're now stuck with foreign made junk, the prices go up every day and customer service is non-existent. We reap what we sow.
@WhereWeWildКүн бұрын
Yeah. 😕 Seems like that happened a loooooong time ago.

@@timarcher1524 Yeah it’s pretty crazy to think about. I remember as a kid growing up in a small town there were tons of little shops, one in particular was this awesome little sporting goods store that some family friends owned and they had to shut it down once they started opening the big sporting goods stores nearby like Sports Authority or Dick’s. Can’t even imagine how anyone manages to keeps a small store like that open today. Now, some of those BIG stores that replaced the small stores long ago are having to close because they are the ones who can’t compete now with sites like Amazon. Pretty nuts.

Most areas don’t allow you to bring fire wood too much of a chance of spreading diseases.
@WhereWeWild3 күн бұрын
Yeah some don’t for sure… that’s why I made sure to mention that. 😊 It’s usually the bugs that can be inside the wood they are concerned with that might not be native to the area you’re traveling to. Just have to check before your trip 🤙🏽

Those ear plugs are invaluable if you camp in whip-r-will country. Those birds can run a night in the forest. Same thing goes for crows in the morning, if you're a late sleeper. Maybe avoid using them in bear country though.😊 Most Campgrounds DO allow the heat treated wood that is sold in those bundles. There will be a certification on the package somewhere. In all National Forests, that I'm aware of, the ONLY firewood that you can bring from home is the certified variety. There are a number of insects, like the Emerald Ash Borer that are transported in cut wood and will infect new forest growth. The kiln drying kills the bugs and their larvae. Expect to have your wood actually checked. They are very serious about this issue. Those BBQ tongs are great to take camping, if you're going to have a campfire. They do a really good job of picking up and returning burning twigs and coals that tumble out of the fire and the Heavier made ones can actually manipulate decent sized logs. The longer the better and just avoid rubber tips and grips. Paint them white if you want to be able to spot them in the dark as the fire dies down. Depending on the construction, the grill burger flippers and be used as a shovel for ash management in your firepit. I don't have a problem using my grilling tools as firepit tools, but if you do, they are cheap enough that you can have a dedicated set for the firepit. I don't think you mentioned plastic tarps in the hardware section. And on that same note, a lot can be protected from rain with contractor trash bags and shower curtain liners from the housewares aisle. Beach style umbrellas can be used to help protect your campfire from being extinguished from rain. Yoga mats from the exercise equipment section will make a decent sleep mat in a pinch. And if you forgot your sleeping bag a quilt or a few fleece blankets can save the day.

I just got this reel out on the water and I’ve had issues with the drag slipping. Unless I have it tighten down all the way, every time I go for a hook set, I’m getting slipping. Is there something I need to tune up on this reel or is this a common issue?
@WhereWeWild4 күн бұрын
Hmm well ya know I guess you do have to keep it pretty darn tight really to set super hard on it. I’ve had that happen on a spinnerbait hit but I just had it a little too loose. Sometimes I’ll keep reels one or two clicks tighter than I’d like it to be and then back it off once I set the hook. Definitely would take it apart and make sure everything is cool though, make sure there isn’t too much grease on the washers and stuff like that. 🤙🏽

Excellent ideas! Both of my local Walmarts have camping sections but I still shop in other departments for some items. Something else I invested in was a bunch of clothes made specifically for fishermen. I have several pairs of pants and several shirts and they are so easy to wash, never get wrinkles, and you can literally squish them into a ball in your backpack and they still look good when you pull them out. They are super lightweight and cool in the hoter months. I typically find them in the men's department but Walmart has them way cheaper than, say, Academy. They can be a bit of an investment but we do a lot of warm weather camping and they have served me well for years.

Coleman sleeping bags have the best zippers that zip down and up without issue. The cheaper sleeping bags have cheap zippers that come apart causing unnecessary cold drafts that are frustrating issues that will cause sleeping problems if aren't addressed immediately and sometimes rendering the sleeping bag unless as a sleeping bag.

Great video. Only thing I’ll say is I would never ever recommend a tent by ozark trail. I got their 8 person tent a few months ago for $130 at Walmart when my gf and I were camping in the Everglades. We got hit by a rainstorm and every single seam on the tent leaked and it destroyed gear and soaked us. I returned it the next day and we went and got a hotel lol. Ozarks sleeping bags are just fine however. But damn their tents are garbage lol

Honestly, you wouldn't believe how many people are put there, going thru your camp at 2-3 a.m.!! We live and camp in Cali too, but thieves are EVERYWHERE!

@@WhereWeWild, Yep, a real dirty rotten shame! At New Brighton State Beach (near Santa Cruz), we thought the thieves were from a homeless camp down the beach from the camp grounds. Grandson (my grandchildren are all in their early 20's) had forgotten to turn my motion lights on, so he did after I saw the man in our camp; about 15 minutes later, the lights came on, grandkids jumped out of the tent (I always sleep in my big old Yukon XL, very comfy), and caught the very old (in their 70's) woman from the camp next to us!!!! Unbelievable, huh? The man there before her was her husband! Even State Park Rangers were astounded! In the end, despite us wanting charges pressed, they were let go since they didn't actually steal anything, even though we saw them rummaging through our stuff; but, they were ordered to leave in the morning, were banned from that place and were put on a list of some kind. Oh and... My grandchildren had kept teasing me when we pulled in, that they had upside down pineapple stickers on the man's Subaru Wagon, and I Googled it - no wonder why they had DOZENS of other very old people pulling in, going in the tent with others and leaving after 15-45 minutes!! We don't mind people having fun, laughing and playing, even loud; I LOVE to see kids cutting it up and having fun, but this was disgusting to us! I was DISGUSTED, there were children there! They were both married to other people too; when the Rangers came to make sure they'd left, they remarked that they were CHEATING ON THEIR SPOUSES, and begged not to be arrested bc of this! I thought it was hilarious actually after I got over it that afternoon; no one was hurt, so we are okay with the outcome! When I was a very young woman, I used to camp, fish and hike alone or with a few close friends; I did have some terrible experiences where people got hurt (a German couple we met was murdered near Big Sur), or we were scared out of our wits (I think we 'met' a Sasquatch at Mt. Shasta) in the late 70's. I believe an angel has watched over me. I want y'all to know that my Darling Granddaughter Sierra, her fiance and I love to watch your channel; they discovered it yesterday, and we are working our way through them! We greatly appreciate that you've taken the time and effort to put out some quality videos, with attention to detail and honesty about the products you review or recommend; you are candid and refreshingly open, and we love this! You have earned and gained some new subscribers! Much Love and Many Blessings, Thank you!!
