Hope the new additions are blessings to you and your herd! I love hearing the redwinged blackbirds in everyone's videos. Been without a car for a few years now so can't get out to the rice fields where they hang out around here. Their song brings back such good memories.

That’s probably something I take for granted around here being able to hear the birds all the time.

I'm sure you thought long and hard on buying these girls given their history. Looks like you have a good plan for quarantine, they all look good on screen. You are always busy Bryan! Good luck with you new plan, Spring is almost here! Good update!

Thanks! I did think awhile on this one and it seemed like a good way to keep growing my herd. It always makes a guy a little nervous though buying when prices are so high. Hope you are doing good!

@@LuthiRanchWY Thanks Bryan! I know what you mean about prices! If I can find the last local sale barn prices I will send a copy to you. All looks good on Luthi Ranch! Keep up the good work!

Bryan! I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot about your operation but I’ve got to disagree with you on the comment you made about a ‘nice spring day’ while you were shoveling snow and wearing a coat! That ain’t spring!!!! 😂 Cows looked pretty good and seemed calm for just coming of the trailer. Hope it’s s good buy for you. When truck pulled back on the highway, I ‘honked’ about 2 seconds before he actually did. I thought that was funny. His Pete sure sounded good driving away. Look forward to next week’s video.

Haha I guess it’s all about perspective when it comes to the weather. When it’s only 85 degrees here this summer and hear me complaining about the heat you can laugh and tell me that’s not hot. Jared has a nice set up for sure! Hope you are doing well!

Nice building to feed them in . Is that left over from dairy production days? Will you be able to produce enough hay to feed all the cows next winter?
@LuthiRanchWY6 ай бұрын
Yes, that Quonset is where we used to keep all of the milk cows. I used to calve my cows in it when I had a smaller herd but as I’ve kept growing my herd it would have been a lot of work trying to keep it clean so I’ve since moved to calving the way I do now outside. I’ve been thinking about moving the cows through there as they calve though for their first couple days then kicking them back out. It would take alittle more time and effort on my part. I hope to have enough hay for next winter.

I was excited for you and your family i live here around Eldorado ks start of the Flint hills cattle country we live about 8 miles from a big sell Barn and got 5 more sell Barnes with in 50 miles of us and most of the cows have been going to slaughter because no rain and no Grass and hay in short supply and very high so very nice to see you and your family saving some i am very excited for more videos coming i found your channel when you was having trouble with the elk and have went back and watched almost all of your videos so keep them videos coming and I will give them all a 👍👍🇺🇲

Thanks for the support! That was a rough winter last year when we were fighting all those elk. It’s been a relief having the elk fence in and not having to deal with them this winter. Sorry to hear about the lack of rain in your area. Hopefully you get some moisture soon!

Wow, non-stop work. How many hours a week ranching and how many driving freight? I imagine you do 8 hours a day driving job then about 6 hours ranching?
@LuthiRanchWY6 ай бұрын
Every week is different but yes on a busy day where I have to work on the truck I’m usually driving 8-10 hours then 3-4 hours doing chores on the ranch when I get home. More hours if we are in the middle of hay season or have a big project going on. I’m definitely never bored haha. Has the weather changed for you guys yet?

Just curious what made these cows worth $200-$300 above cull cow prices?
@rescuecow906 ай бұрын
I would’ve said just above cull price was fair.
@LuthiRanchWY6 ай бұрын
Paying a little above cull price might have not been worth it for some but I thought these cows were worth the little extra money for a couple reasons. 1. Their young age 2-4 years old with only 3 or 4 being over 3 years old 2. I knew where they were coming from and the type of operation they ran, they were raised on that ranch and were nice calm cows 3. The ranch they were raised on focus on genetics, they live in a similar environment to ours so they focus on genetics that thrive grazing in areas between 7-9000 ft in elevation. Our ranch sits at 6,000 ft elevation and our summer range is up in the 7,000-9,000 ft elevation range. I guess we will have to wait until this fall and see if it was a good deal or not when we see what bred cows cost and if I saved money doing it this way.

Nice bunch of stock cows. I hope when You buy some replacement bulls they are not sway back, pot bellied, short tailed, with their tail head higher than their forehead, overfat, rinky dinks. I was a Registered Angus Breeder for 23yrs and some of these so called carcass bulls make me sick to look at. It takes more than high marbeling, big ribeyed bulls with a crest as a yearling as big as 4 year old to make a good set of cows. I would think that You would want a bull that would breed cattle built like the ones You bought. Look forward to Your video's each week.
