Whey is the greenish colored water left over during cheese production. In addition to having a rich content, it also creates an opportunity for us to obtain some plant protection products that we can use in our garden. Only by adding any of the sugar sources to whey can we make a product that will provide some benefit. However, if we put it into fermentation with various herbs, we will obtain a final product with a very rich content and incorporating many different benefits.
Whey powder is a product obtained by evaporation of the liquid part of the whey. You can use both. If you are going to use the powder, I will give you the measurements soon. If you are going to use the water directly, you can use the water we use during fertilizer production at the rate you want, not less than half of it. But the best result is to use whole whey.
In just 10 grams of whey powder, apart from carbohydrates, vitamins and protein, there are sodium salts, 230 mg of Potassium and 205 mg of Calcium.
It doesn't matter which herbs we will use, you can also use the herbs in your garden, you can also use the leaves and stems of various flowers such as nettle, celandine, vinegar and marigold, or you can use wild herbs that all have different characteristics. If your garden has grasses, you will have a chance to make a transformation in the garden, since you have taken from your soil and given it to the soil. In a fertilizer that we want rich content, if you use little by little from every weed you can find, you will get a product with a high plant nutrient content.
However, our aim here is not only to obtain plant nutrients. The nutrients that will come from the content of the herbs we use will be the plus part of the work. The most important part for us is that the lactic acid bacteria in the whey produce lactic acid and the bifidobacteria produce lactic and antibacterial compounds that can increase the immunity of the plants. With this kind of fertilizer preparation, we will kill many birds with one stone.
For its production, we will use 10 liters of water or whey, and if we use powder, we will use around 350 milligrams of whey powder and herbs. The bacteria in the whey will consume the nutrients in the whey in an oxygen-free environment. However, if we want, we can dissolve 100 milligrams of molasses or molasses in water and mix it into the medium. In this way, the content can be made stronger.
Fill the herbs in a bowl, sprinkle the powder on it and fill the water. Close your mouth and leave for 15 days. During this process, you can use an airlock if you wish. In a tightly closed container, the lid does not open easily. Even if it is opened, close it again and continue the process. If there is a lot of gas accumulation in the container, open the lid for 5 10 seconds, the gas will be discharged.
At the end of the process, you can filter it if you want to store it, or you can use it directly if you want to use it immediately. Mix 1 liter of this fertilizer with 9 liters of clean water and give it to your vegetables every 15 days.
If you used grass-style grasses, it can continue until the end of the season, if you used nitrogen-heavy grasses, use it every 20 days until the first harvest, and every 10 days with the harvest. Towards the end of the season, you can dilute 1 in 10, like 1 in 7, and add 500 milliliters of fertilizer sherbet for rejuvenation fertilization.
