There are so many acids out there that it can be tough choosing which one you should be using on your skin. Well, rest assured that even if you chose the “wrong” one, it will still most likely help you with your issues - because really, acids all perform the same task - dissolving the bonds that hold the dead skin to your face.
**I want to mention something here regarding the Fitzpatrick Skin Typing. This is in regards to what color skin you have, how you burn, or freckle in the sun. If you have type 4, 5 or 6
**these are the medium to darker skin types **
then you will almost ALWAYS want to prepare your skin with a melanin inhibitor before applying a higher percentage or a stronger acid. If you are unsure - error on the side of caution. A melanin inhibitor such as our Fade Bright should be applied for at least 2 weeks prior to a peel.
This will help to dramatically lessen the chances that you could get Post inflammatory hyper pigmentation after a peel. ***
Now, let's find out which acid is the best one for your issues.
We can target:
Acne
Fine lines
Deeper lines
Scarring
Hyperpigmentation
Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

I’ve never done a chemical peel in my life and last night I did 3 passes of tca 7% and I am hooked!!! It was so easy, I watched your videos 20 times each probably lol, I knew exactly what to do, everything went great! My skin has never felt so smooth EVER! It tingled a bit but I had no irritation or negative side effects. I’m so excited to continue my peeling/anti-aging journey, thank you Jen!!!!

I absolutely love your content. It's very informative, precise and easy to follow. Unfortunately being in South Africa, we don't have access to your products and have to do with alternatives. The range of acid peels available to buy is very limited, unless if you go to ridiculously overpriced clinics for treatments. Jessners are hard, if not impossible to find. The rest are sold at ridiculously low % (e.g. -TCA 4% and 6%) yet very pricey. Highest Lactic you can get is 40% and salicylic is 30%. On the other hand, you find different % for same quantity of the same peel going for the same price (e.g. 10ml of Lactic 20% is same as 10ml for 40%)🤣! Like, its so ridiculous, I don't even think anyone knows what they are doing!
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 3 жыл бұрын
Well, that can certainly happen. Saliyclic 30% would be VERY strong. The 4 and 6% TCA... yes very low and would require probably about 5-8 layers to get a good peel on the face. We are glad that you found us.

Very informative video! I've struggled with malasma and hyperpigmentation for years and have decided 2020 is when I need to do something about it. I'm approaching my mid 30s with sensitive, dry skin and prone to monthly hormonal breakouts which always leave a scar. I'm currently using the ordinary lactic acid 10% with HA 3x per week. I suspect I may need something stronger but I'm super nervous! I use spf 40 sunscreen. I'm at a loss with my skin. Any Suggestions?

10% lactic is pretty mild. I would suggest starting up with a weekly 50% Lactic peel. Then Fade Bright (or hydroquinone) 2x per day along with SPF 50. Retinoids at night will help the turnover as well. Consider something like our .20% Retinol Molecular Serum.

Hello- I’ve been watching you for sooo long and I just realized that one of my new fave you tubers recommends your products. (Literally just put 2+2 together. So it got me excited). That said, I’m 38 years old and I have Dermal Melasma. I also have acne scarring that was brought on with age. (I always had beautiful skin). Aside from the Melasma and scarring, I’d like to use a peel that will address or help fight fine lines & wrinkles. Also minimize pore size if possible. I know this is a pretty tall order. So my question is this: Should I start with the TCA 13% or are their other products you’d recommend? I’ve never done a peel before. But my skin isn’t super sensitive. Thank you in advance and thank you for always explaining things in laymen’s terms. Love that about you. 💕 Should I start
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 4 жыл бұрын
Oh really? Wonderful to hear that!! Yes... retinol is the KEY for pores. IPL will help as well. You can see the video we have on pores for more information on that. www.platinumskincare.com/what-can-i-do-to-shrink-my-pores-1/ TCA 13 would be perfect for those lines and even melasma. Use Fade Bright 2x per day and also take a quick read on this page here for internal suggestions on melasma: www.platinumskincare.com/blog/face-mapping-to-solve-skin-issues/

@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare Жыл бұрын
I think there is a place for ALL of those amazing goodies out there. Needling, peels, lasers... Peels of course are my favorites.. with professional needling and PRF being a 2nd favorite. If you want to jump to TCA... then there are REALLY some positive changes that can be had - guaranteed. TCA has been proven in studies to stimulate collagen and elastin in the skin. So that is the #1 I recommend for anti-aging. For hanging skin.. or excess skin? That is surgery all the way. Nothing can fix loose skin other than a scalpel.
@clboymom9467
@clboymom9467 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if I’m going to have to go through down time with peeling and flaking, I might as well do the deepest TCA.
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 2 жыл бұрын
Oh... that is not true at all. Don't think for one minute that if you do ONE higher percentage TCA peel you are going to have all of your skin problems solved. Peels don't work that way. No matter what you choose - it is going to be a series of 6-8 peels. TCA is great! But start with the 13% at 1-2 layers and work up to 5 layers* maybe... and then go from there.

I have a question jennifer. I am black and have acne scarring on my back and shoulder. I prepped my skin with fade bright and melanin inhibitor for six weeks. I also washed my skin with soap and water and then cleaned it with alcohol. I did not spot treat, I applied the skin peel 50 percent on my right deltoid (shoulder area). I waited a few days and saw no frosting and no peeling. I felt a slight tingling/warming sensation when I applied but just the area closest to the arm pit got dry and flaked a little. No peeling. Did I do something wrong? What would you recommend?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 2 жыл бұрын
Hello. You applied a 50% what? Glycolic? TCA? We do not manufacture a 50% TCA... so I can not help you with that. What is normal though on the body... is a peel taking 30 days to exfoliate. Don't expect to see anything for a good 10-14 days.

Hi! This video was very informative and I'm so glad I found this company. I want to do a chemical peel on my feet to reduce wrinkles and soften my feet and my knees to remove hyperpigmentation and even out my skin. I was thinking of using the 20% TCA since I have Type 5 skin type. What are your suggestions? What's a good pairing with TCA? The vitamin A peel or the fusion A luminosity method?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 6 ай бұрын
Caution with darker skin types. I suggest Fade Bright and Triple Treat 25% Body Lotion as a daily treatment. After 4 weeks, if you wish to do a peel, then the TCA 20% is an option. See here: www.platinumskincare.com/body-peels-which-acid-what-percentage-fitzpatrick/

Hello and thank you for your videos. A few years ago I used the Obagi system for about a week. I did this on two separate occasions. I have thin skin on my forehead and although there are no deep wrinkles I have plenty of small fine lines. I was concerned these treatments were making my already thin skin even thinner. I did wear an SPF 50 but I still developed dark patches on my forehead and also my cheek bones around the eye area and now the side of my face by my temples looks crepey. I’m nearly 49 and I never had these patches before. I should mention, I am mixed race black Caribbean and white English. I recently found an inexpensive glycolic serum which is only 4% in strength, I’ve been using it night and day and I have to say my skin looks brighter after only 1 week of use. I’m interested in trying your products but am not sure where to start, I don’t want to damage skin that is already thin but would like to combat the signs of ageing. What would you recommend? Do these peels make thin skin thicker? Thanks for a great video and any help in advance.
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 5 жыл бұрын
We generally recommend the Retinol .20% for evening use. It will help to thin the DEAD buildup of skin and will also help to stimulate collagen in the deeper layers. This is good for smoothing the look of lines. www.platinumskincare.com/retinol-molecular-serums-10-20-30/ We have a nice 10% Acid cleanser called our Revitalizing Cleanser here: www.platinumskincare.com/revitalizing-glycolic-cleanser-10/ that will help to gently exfoliate daily. And, to target pigmentation, apply the Fade Bright 2x per day to clean skin *prior to any other serums, creams or oils. This will help to turn down the melanin production in your skin and help to fade back that sun damage that has made its way to the surface of your face. www.platinumskincare.com/fade-bright-lightening/

If you are dealing with acne: Salicylic 15% is a great place to start. Mandelic 40% would be another option that is a bit less "harsh". These are each a peel you can do 1x every 7-10 days. ... So about 3-4x per month. A stronger option would be Jessners. That can be applied 1x per month and is layerable.

¥oshi Xo hello. I recommend Fade Bright 2x per day then your bio oil and spf. Evenings Retinol .20 molecular serum. Either continue on with your glycolic peels (30% or move up to 50%) and keep going. It takes time to reverse damages. That’s perfectly normal. Do at least 8 peels at 1x every 2 weeks. If you want to alternate acids, Lactic 50 is another one that is great with pigmentation issues.

PIH is common with any form of trauma to the skin. You should begin using a melanin inhibitor and a retinol every day. Fade Bright or hydroquinone will be excellent choices. Retinol .20 at night and of course, SPF 50 every day you head out. If you want to add a peel to this, I suggest the Mandelic 40 1x a week for 6-8 weeks.

A melain inhibitor is generally only needed on those with ethnic skin tones. Most with very white skin have quite a low chance of getting PIH *though they still can. Now that being said there are many that have had good luck in NOT getting PIH... but that is really just that... "luck". And never forget that you can do 50 peels in a row that go great...but that next one might be different. It is always easier to prep properly than to deal with a negative outcome.

Hmmmm. Glycolic can sometimes cause irritations like that. Are you using other products that would make you more sensitive? Retinoids, acid serums?? Medications?? YOu may need to space out your peels more to give your skin a break -- or have them switch to a milder acid so you don't deal with that.

Yes, if your skin is on the dry side. Yes, Lactic can leave the skin feeling a bit more moisturized than mandelic post peel. Both are great peels. You can certainly move up to TCA 13 after your series. Yes, start with TCA 13, 1-2 layers...you can do your next peel in about 2-3 weeks depending on how your skin reacts. If you are applying more layers.....ie. 3-4 layers....a good rule of thumb is to space the peels out by 1 month.
