Cursor just released their agent for compose. Feels the same as windsurf - not sure which one you were using in this video

Also, if you wanna do a follow up and tell us which experience you prefer on another tools, you can try aider (cli), cline (vscode), codecompanion (nvim), avante (nvim). There are more but these would be the ones I would like to hear your opinion. Thanks 🙏

Using Cursor is actually a far superior experience - this video totally neglects to mention the autocomplete side of things, where Cursor absolutely shits on Windsurf. That's 95%+ of what I'm actually using the AI stuff for.

If you want better result in any of these LLM, try to be quite specific, like mention the libraries you want to use, the file you want to save your data on, the format of the data, and like the basic logic. Pretty much Gemini, GPT, Claude will nail it at once

I wish someone would build a real thing! Real user auth, real payments for product, real problem solved. Deployed and running. And then disclose how long it took and how much it cost in prompts.

I thought the same thing. Or I'd like to see what most ppl do irl and see how good it is in adding a new feature in an existing codebase filled with tech debt. That would be impressive.

Windsurf also uses its own extension "marketplace", which is subpar at best

I swear every time I refresh my KZbin homepage there's some new AI code editer thing-a-bob... then next week "[Insert editor] is so last season darling💅". I just stick to the best TUI editor: Neovim.

I've been using cursor. Its great for debugging error messages in the terminal, especially if they are not formatted as well as they could be.

Just use Your favorite OG IDE and just run Aider in the terminal window. Trust me.

Windsurf is awesome. I use it and neovim. I pretty much use windsurf for ai coding, its the only ai i pay for and uses codebase as context. Great to teach you whilst u build

Windsurf lacks a lots of extensions because it does not use official Microsoft's extensions store. It is actually unusable for many languages due to that.

You can easily switch to official one. They must do so, because official MS extension store is reserved only to official VSCode if you want to abide by their EULAs :)

Save your career the wasted time and just use an editor without AI. Youre just purposely weakening your skills as a developer. Why are devs hired? To solve problems. Practice solving problems. Any other position is just making excuses for you to eat junk food.

If you're a good dev, there's no way you're going to even double your productivity with this. The only way you're 10x'ing anything is if you're a 0.1 dev to start. People keep saying this but I've yet to even see a single livestream of anyone actually using AI to build anything. It's just hype and exaggeration. a

@@hamm8934 I literally have a live stream on my channel "Build in public #4" where I build an entire app that uses the chatGPT api with AI using cursor for the first time and it only took me 2 hours... And mind you I haven't touched webdev in probably 7 years.
