I went with these on my 4 Runner, here in BC Canada we are required to have winter tires for a few months a year and these tires are not only off road capable, they are 3 peak snow rated as well. Nice choice.

I Had the AT3s on my 2017 Ram 3500 and they were hands down the best Snow/Ice tire i've had. I now have a Ram Dually and was planning on putting AT3s on that when ready. The main reason for this tire is handling on snow and Ice,

This video was right on time for me. I’ve had my ‘22 Ram 2500, which came with Firestones, for just over a year now. Just over 30k miles and even after some tire rotations I’m seeing uneven wear, especially on the front. Have actually decided on the Wildpeaks as well (I’ve previously been a Nitto Terragrappler fan). Now I know I’ll be needing regular alignments.

I have a 2018 RAM 3500 DRW and flipped from the OEM tires to the Nitto Grapples with 3 mountain snowflakes on my 20K mile mark. It seems to be common with the more aggressive tread to see the outside wear creep up on the fronts while the backs run great. To me, this is just normal due to the turning we do in tighter spots....very commonly seen in state & national parks. I do know that i do not rotate my tires correctly but I'm not fond of pulling the tires off the rims any more than needed. What i do is just move the "lefts" over to the right side and vice-versa on the rights. (I rotate every 5K miles) I've been able to get 45K miles on my backs but i do buy new tires for the fronts around the 20K mark and am getting ready to buy a full new set (6) here in a few weeks. I too like the idea of an all terrain type tire over a more "highway" type. I will give a prediction; you will still see outer tread wear on the fronts but not like what you saw on your prior tires. This time you'll start seeing a wear pattern on "every other lug". I only do alignment checks when i buy new tires but maybe on this bext set I'll bump that up to once a year just to see the outcome.

Really good video. I am going with BF Goodrich KO2s on my rig. I have had them on previous vehicles including my previous Ram 3500. They are great in snow, dirt, sand and pavement. Food for thought for next time

I have a Ram 3500 SRW HO. I’ve looked at these tires and they are pretty nice. I think I’m going to try the TOYO AT3 this go around. I heard they are a great road tire and do well in snow. I live in Colorado so that’s a huge plus for me. Appreciate the video and the overall breakdown.

I have toyo at3 295/65r20 on my stock unleveled 2020 Ram 3500 ho srw as well in Northern bc Canada and run them year round. Wearing well and even and they do well in all conditions. They are just slightly taller 35", I believe 35.1×11.8 wide I get a slight rub at full lock on sway bar and radius arm but not enough to feel it.

@@briang7870 That’s good to hear. I’ve been thinking about the 296/60/20 for mine but I have the factory air and I would like to get a new spring and shock package. It doesn’t even have to be lifted or leveled, I just would like to soften the ride by 30%. If I can do that and run the 295’s I would be happy. Would love the have it where it won’t rub for sure. I’m looking at the Bilstien 5100 shocks with a Thuren spring but I’m absolutely no expert. Thanks for the info on the TOYO’s.

@David Brown I hear ya on the ride. I have the factory air as well. Not the easiest to level. I have a rough country level kit I would probably use but I'd also have to lift the rear as well and use air bag spacers. I'm not to keen on putting lift blocks in the rear as the axle wrap under acceleration when passing is already bad enough.

@@briang7870 I hear ya. CJC off-road makes a few spring and shock packages that are anywhere from 1/2 inch to 3.25 for air ride truck. Thuren also makes some of the leveling link extenders (not sure how else to say that) that will keep the air ride rake on the back. I just want slightly better ride as I pull my camper. Other than that, the Cummins has been solid.

Your front tire wear is a camber problem. No camber adjustment . If you need this adjustment, offset upper ball joints are available. I had the same problem.

I do my oil,fuel filter, tire rotation all at the same time saves time and money in the long run. no problems with tires.

Have a 2020 Ram Dually and had the same issue, replaced all the tires and had an alignment done. The front tires started to wear on the outer edge on the new ones.Went back to the dealer and had a re alignment done. I did contact Ram corporate about the issue. They replaced the steering box and re aligned the truck and they replaced the front tires. That solved the problem. I have no idea why that correct the issue but it did. My dealer is awesome.

Both My front NEXENS separated at about 8K on my 2015 3500 Dually. Fortunately it happened just miles from the house on the return trip from Mobile for the Mopar's at the Battleship car show!. I took the truck to the dealer a week later for its third oil change, and they agreed both were separated! They marked the separated areas, I had to pay full price to replace them and send the tires to California to NEXEN. NEXEN declined warranty and said neither were separated! They said you are not driving the truck enough! WTF they were egg shaped! As I just purchased two new tires I stayed with them. The rears have worn great and no issues. I put Uniroyal tires on my last Dually and they had 50K on them and were still great when I traded it in!! I will look at the FALKEN when I change these NEXENS.

Best of luck with your falcon wild peak tires. I had them on my 2014 ram 3500 dually had to replace them at 45,000 miles. Around 35k-40k miles I started having tread chunking problems. Chunks of the tread were flying off of the tire. You could use your finger nail and peel the tread from the tire as well. This particular truck is used for towing anywhere between 16 to 24,000 pounds on a regular basis. Other than that they were good tires and provided great traction in all weather. I ended up replacing them with the Michelin‘s that you showed in your video.

I was having the same issue burning front tires off in less than 15k miles. I upgraded to amercian force 19.5" rims which look simular to stock but with commercial tires. Well I use the same tires on my dump trailer which, I thrash those tires going on 8 years pulling 20k LBS of weight at least 20k miles a year.

I know this vid is over a year old, but just wanted to chime in with my experience on dually tires. I have a '15 Ram 3500 DRW MegaCab 4x4 so just a bit shorter overall than your truck, but very similar. Stock suspension except for Bilstein 4600 shocks up front and dual Bilstein 5100s for steering stabilizer. New OEM rear shocks. Anyway, I went with a slight up size... 255/80 17 (stock 17x6 Alcoas) which I assume you have in black? I have the Toyo RT Trail on the rear duals and I really like them so far. One thing is they are a higher rated weight capacity (3415 lbs vs. 3195) at least in my size. I do tow a fairly heavy 5th wheel. So slightly wider than stock and a bit taller. I REALLY do not care for the rear duals sticking out so I didn't want to use spacers or change wheels etc. and this size is really the biggest (IMO) that you can fit with no issues. The fronts are older Toyo AT III and will need replacing soon with the same RT Trails that I have on the rear. Yes, they are wearing on the edges...very common on these trucks. FYI, I see that Mickey Thompson now has a 255/85 17 that should fit on the stock wheel and is taller at around 34.5" or so.

With a new truck with only 15k on it I would have made RAM pay for the alignment and give a credit on the poor tire wear. I have been a mechanic and tire dealer for over 30 years and the solid axle front ends are very tough and will not go out of alignment easily. If there wasn't a part that was worn and needed to be replaced, it wasn't properly aligned from the factory! Ram has had issues in the past with track arm bushings wearing out quickly, but that won't affect tire wear, just handling. The factory typically sets the toe in with too much posative toe in which can cause wear on the outside of the front tires. The camber on your solid front axle is not adjustable without replacing ball joints with adjustable ball joints. All that can really be adjusted is Caster and toe in and Caster is associated with death wobble, but it is usually not adjusted on solid front axle trucks unless there is a driveability issue. That leaves toe it, which won't change unless you hit something hard enough to bend the tie rod, which I doubt you have done because the tie rod is very beefy. Ram does tend to have issues with ball joints wearing out, but in my experience that doesn't usually happen until 70k or more. It would be helpful to see what your beginning alignment numbers were and what the corrected numbers were. Usually you can get a print out from the alignment machine if you ask for it. Bottom line is that on a solid front axle truck an alignment can be done with a couple of straight edges and a tape measure. My dad taught me how to do that 50 years ago and things haven't changed. As far as your tire choice the Falkens have been doing a good job lately and people have been happy with them. I have sold a few sets recently and the customers like them. I would have to say that 15k out of the Nexens is pretty disappointing. Ram used to install Michelins for a long time and they were usually good for 50-70k. Nexen is a pretty low end tire and obviously a cost saving measure for the factory.

I've got 300k on my 2014 3500srw and I've towed (off-road) over 30k# on a bumper hitch on mountainous terrain and less than ideal roads. I have 60k miles on my latest set of 295r18 Toyo OC AT3's and still 5/16 left. I rotate every 10 to 15k and re-balance for free at DiscTire. Key is to not accelerate around corners and never zero speed turning. These tires have been over 100mph (off-road) lots of times making time. I haven't used nitrogen and keep the fronts at 76psi cold and 66psi cold unloaded, 80 psi loaded. Tires are rated at 4080#. 34.3 inches tall and snow flake rated which is required if travelling in mountains in a lot of jurisdictions. Most other tires are garbage if hauling.

I ran the Toyo AT-II's until they upgraded to the 3's. I wanted to move up to the 3's but the "supply chain" kept them from me. I went to the Cooper Discoverer AT Maxx in a 255/80-17. Not many tire manufacturers offer that size so I am limited. These tires are pretty aggressive as an all terrain but they do work well. I don't think they will last as long as the AT3's but we'll see. On another note, having a size like this is ok until you need a replacement right away. It doesn't come standard on any vehicles so they always have to be ordered and there's always a day or so wait.

Those are really good looking new tires you purchased. Just wondering why you wanted the all terrain tires for pulling your 5ver , other than they look great ? The Michelin you mentioned I believe would have quite a bit more load carrying capacity.

Thank you. Yes, I do a lot of State Parks with unpaved roads and inclines, so the all terrain tread gives me a bit more confidence especially with slow maneuvers and backing in when it is wet or damp. Otherwise I probably would have gone with the Michelins. Even though it's a dually since it's a 3500, the applicable tire size is technically still "light truck" tires in the load E range, so all just north of 3K pounds ea and same as OEM Nexen ATs.

No drama to report so far. Only have about 7K miles. They have worn evenly though. I don't have anything negative to say about them in terms of traction, road noise, mpg diff, towing stability, ride quality, etc ...I bought largely based on the sheer volume of positive reviews for an all terrain tire. They seem to be a solid choice if you're looking for a bit more aggressive pattern.

ive always gone with the cooper discoverer at3 xlt tires they are great looking and they last so so long for me and i tow quite often but also drive normally a lot too ive always loved them. i dont know if you looked into these tires but look into them i wanna hear your opinion on them.

It may shock a lot of folks to hear this, but when I took delivery of my custom ordered truck, RAM themselves put wheel weights on the outside of all my wheels from day one, direct from the factory. There's a lot of discussion about this online, but sometimes in order to achieve the perfect tire balance, wheel weights have to go on the inside and outside of the clip ring. Lots of opinions obviously, but for the record, RAM puts wheel weights on the outside (and inside) of their rims from the factory on all their dually trucks. Otherwise, if it's a single rear wheel truck, the rims don't have a clip ring on the outside and so adhesive weights are used on the inside of the rims.

@@AdventureRocks I can see it being okay as long as it doesn’t gouge or damage the wheel face. As long as the clip weights are meant for aluminum wheels, I see no real issue as long as there is no damage to be seen when rebalancing later. No one wants a crappy looking wheel because of balancing. There is a difference between clip ons for steel and aluminum so let’s hope they used the correct ones. These are factory wheels, so you can get away with alittle more things like weights on the face if you chose too, but If this was a set of aftermarket wheels and a shop did this, that shop would be replacing the wheels they did this to on their insurance.

Why didn’t you go a tad bigger? LT255/80R17 I have the same truck with 4.10 gears and was considering the LT255/80R17 . I’m sure you considered this size, why did you keep them stock?

I like the visual appearance of a slightly taller tire on the truck itself, but I was concerned about my towing height with fifth wheel as I'm already nose high a bit even with the air suspension set to the lower "alt height" when towing. So that's pretty much only reason I stayed stock size. Otherwise I like the look of that 255/80R17... Probably more proportional with truck heft too!

I notice that the weights are on the outside. Not a good look with the black wheels. Did you ask about putting the weights on the inside so you don't see them? They could have at least painted the weights black.

Yes, surprisingly the weights on wheels came that way from factory with the OEM Nexens. I'm not a tire expert, but I think on the dually rims they are limited with the old-fashioned clip on weights vs the adhesive weights that are hidden. I believe the weights sometimes have to go on outside ring, sometimes inside ring depending on the balance to get it right. I noticed from the RAM factory with the Nexen tires, the weights were all on outside originally, but with new Falkens, some of the weights are outside, some inside. I agree they stand out on black wheels, but I got used to the look since it came that way from factory. Maybe there's a more advanced way to get them balanced and conceal the weights better, just not sure. Have had some recommend concentric balancers (Centramatic) for the dually, but for now keeping it old-school with traditional weights.

Only 14k miles and the front tires are like that? Shame on Ram. Unless you like to run head-on into curbs or do rock climbing, front suspension alignment does not "go out". Alignment from the factory should be perfect - be assured, yours was not. The need for alignment should only be required when parts bend or wear, or when parts are replaced. I have 225k on my dually and I have had it aligned exactly once - after I replaced ball joints.

Everyone I know with a one ton daully ram has that same problem. They destroy front tires. Maybe it's because the rear is so wide? The back is crazy wide on those trucks
