The Sryp app is pretty good and reliable however the update process has issues. Out of nowhere the update has issues AND the biggest issue is that once it detects it needs an update it doesn’t allow you to move forward until you complete the update.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Yes I heard about that, basically you are stuck till the update is done.. that’s not good.. 😬
@matt.pereira3 жыл бұрын
Yep - I had worse than this - brand new SYRP Pan/Tilt head, needed an update - and the update failed half way through, leaving the unit stuck in factory mode - I had to wait nearly two months for a replacement under warranty ... but what if it had been outside that one year ?? I hate to think ...
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Oh no! That sucks! Stuff like that really pull me off from Syrp products. I heard story like yours so many times. No good for a 3000 € slider. Have you had other issues after the replacement?
@matt.pereira3 жыл бұрын
@@MattiaBicchi Thankfully no. But I had a big timelapse shoot last week and as I was checking everything out the day before, both the pan/tilt and the Linear II needed a firmware update! I was very, very nervous to do this so close to a paid shoot, but thankfully they both went through without any problems. But that’s the problem, isn’t it? You need to be able to have 100% confidence in your kit, and unfortunately I don’t have confidence in the updates!
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Yep, that’s definitely a problem, you have to trust your kit 100%

Ciao Mattia! Conosci qualche slider che si possa allungare con le prolunghe? C'è quello della Syrp che è 60cm +60cm, ma costa 700€! Esiste qualcosa di più abbordabile? Grazie mille 🙏🏻
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Ciao Leonardo! Al momento gli unici che conosco sono Dynamic perception e Syrp, sono anche io alla ricerca di un nuovo sistema, ma sfortunatamente non ho trovato altre aziende che fanno slider modulari.
@Leonardo.Ciace_Films3 жыл бұрын
@@MattiaBicchi Grazie mille per la risposta! 🙏🏻 Capisco. Allora inizierò con uno slider classico. Secondo te 60 cm sono sufficienti per avere un buon effetto di parallasse? Vorrei contenere gli ingombri per poterlo caricare sullo zaino
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Eheh ti capisco! Anche per me avere un slider che posso mettere nello zaino è essenziale! Cmq si, 60cm già dovresti vedere un buon parallasse con oggetti vicini alla macchina.

I would be interested in which you think is the most stable in windy conditions. I still mostly use my own designs to minimize camera shake.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Anthony! Syrp, Kessler and Edelkron seems the less stable in the wind, if you are using the 3 axis motor as well.. the are too high in my opinion. The DP that I have, is pretty stable I have to say, I think is because it’s kind of heavy.. 😊 between all of them I think Rhino is the best balanced.. but I would need to test to be sure.. btw, I love your work! 😊

Is Dynamic Perception still in business? They don't have a youtube channel, and their vimeo channel has 29 videos, but the newest one is over 5 years old. They haven't updated their website or added any new content or updates to it in the last 3 years that I know of, how long it's been since they updated it before I first looked at it I don't know, maybe it hasn't been updated in over 5 years too.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe! I think they are still in business and they are still selling their slider, but they might have some issues and they might shutdown in the future. Nothing public, so I don’t know for sure..

@@MattiaBicchi Thanks for the reply and info. That's too bad, their equipment looks really good and it would be a shame if they went under and stopped making it.

I can't wait the day where I will be able to control the exposure of my Sony camera with the Syrp system. For now I hold my breath every time I adjust my settings during an holy grail ! And than pan tilt head is soooo expensive... I am using a genie mini II with the genie linear and I can confirm that the Genie II is bad for video shooting with slow pan movment.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, would be nice to have a complete system that can manage the Holy Grail as well. If I shoot sunset or sunrise with a slider on my Sony, I usually shoot in Av mode, Sony is very good to ramp the exposure, even without using the internal intervalometer. Syrp is very pricy indeed, which is another thing that pulls me off a bit from this system. Thank you for confirming about the Genie II video capability. :-)

Being an amateur at best, I have a ratrig slider. Costs about 225 eu, motorized. But no controls whatsoever. You turn a dail to make it go, turning the dail more makes it go faster 🤣🤣. Doesnt stop by itself either, you have to keep an eye on it or it reaches the end and the motor might burn out. Works like a charm though. No way my wife would agree on me spending 2500 on a slider 😁. This I made with the ratrig slider: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYjTfWVsoalpo8k
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Ahh I didn't know that brand, well the timelapse is pretty smooth! so it does the job! :) My first slider didn't stop either eheh, I had to be careful all the time to not burn out the motors! If you are happy with it, that's the most important thing!
