Air delivery asked for more than $1,000 one-way, and it was even impossible due to battery issues. After all, it takes 2 months just to send it by shipping. Shh. That's one of the reasons I'm hesitant about getting a onewheel. Aside from how expensive it is, close to €3000 for the GT (Ireland), there is also the issue of what happens if the board breaks. We have the right to repair in Ireland (well, the EU), but if I have to send it back to America for repair, the question is, is it even worth it. Would it cost me just as much to ship it, get it repaired, and then pay for delivery (and likely custom fees) Then it would be to buy the ADV pro. On the other hand, I could buy the GT from an Irish store, but ADV, I need to purchase it from China, pay delivery and whatever import tax/fee customs. And Irish customs love slapping you with massive import fees. For example, I purchased a set of Lego lights from China, the lights, including delivery, cost €110. Custom charged €50 import fee. I can only imagine the field day they would have if I tried getting the ADV.

@@JaTirk They have a lot of practices in place that are pretty anti-consumer. They sue into bankruptcy anything too close to a Onewheel, which makes it harder for third parties to make parts. Want to make different foot pads, you better plan on making the rear only cuz the front sensor is theirs alone. Want to swap out a battery? Good luck if you disconnect that cable you're likely, if not certain to brick your board. Need work done? Sure there might be plenty of shops in your area capable of it, but they want you to spend hundreds of dollars on shipping it to their 1 location in the world that can do it. Shipping is no problem for you? you better hope that there is no sign that you or anyone has touched something in there that they don't like, or else they might just send it back to you without doing any repairs. Future Motion it's the worst company to deal with, especially on the warranty repair, at least in my case, they will try to find any excuse not to fix it, first, they tell me that my GT it's over a year old from the day of purchase and it is out of warranty, I tell them to please check again date of purchase on the original receipt the one I submitted, after that, they replied yes we can fix it, but I would have to pay for shipping cost, if it's a warranty repair why do I have to pay for shipping costs? especially since I'm in the United States, I would understand if I were in a different country, but I never get a straight answer from them about that. You missed some major points. 1- You can disconnect the BMS from the battery and it will not brick the board. Which one does that I wonder! Why are these major "costs of ownership" being glossed over? All those Christmas toys with batteries not included, like WHEN after many miles of use the FM battery only charges to a 5 mile range and you want to replace it, you have to ship it to California, that is insane! 2- Even a two year old can replace the batteries in a toy. Anyone with over a room temperature IQ should have learned by the time they can ride one of these how to replace a battery but FM make that a money grab and ADV just sells you a battery you can replace. 3- Any competent shop on the planet can get ADV parts or use parts you bought and fix your board for you. That would be like any bike shop or garage for any other vehicle you, your parents, your grandparents etc etc owned in the past century. I cannot comprehend the staggering avarice of FM saying I have to ship it only to them to fix and with a blank check. There is me thinking "eat it" meant an ender off the front of the board with chicklets scattered on the sidewalk... Now I have to figure out bitcoin because FM cannot stand competition and Tony has to obfuscate finances to protect the ADV from BS lawsuits. LOVED my Kubota and rued the day of sale but have me a CASE 580 Super E now. NO computer in that 6 ton beast and easy to repair!

I would add that if you live outside of the US and you are able to repair things yourself, the adv is gonna be the better choice I live in Italy, any one wheel would cost me their full price+import taxes+international shipping (which are both A LOT) and if anything brake I would have to pay both TWICE AGAIN to ship the board to repair The ADV for almost half the price has better performances, better tunability and can be repaired with less money Also I see nobody talking about the potential of the cannoncore motor: while I feel like the hypercore motor is reaching its full potential in the GTS, in the future with better batteries and controllers, the cannoncore motor could give so much more, that's why I look forward to see the ADV gen II I think getting a GTS is worth it only if you don't want the hassle of buying with crypto and assembling the board yourself, and still, personally I would be inclined to buy a normal GT; getting a stock GTS in Europe would end up costing me almost 4k, it's just too much....

Great video as always, fair and considered. I love my GT but I spend a good portion of each ride worrying that it's about to die and become a paperweight. I don''t think I'd be too concerned if I had an ADV, knowing that I could fix it myself with parts ordered from FW. I think if you don't happen to live in the US this is a major concern, knowing you'll have to send it back to FM and pay a mystery price for the hopeful fix. I'd much rather keep my broken board and order parts and fit them myself. If you live in the UK and your Onewheel breaks the only sensible (cost) option you have is to sell it for spares or repair. Then buy a new one and repeat the process. With the Floatwheel you could potentially keep the same board for many many years as you repair it yourself as things break over time. I honestly don't think I'd buy the GTS even if it was cheaper than the ADV because I'd still have that worry that it was about to die from some unknown problem and I'd have to give FM yet more money. I don't want to be FM's bitch anymore.

Thank you, great video. I heard something about the first 200 motors on the ATV were a problem. Did your ATV have one of those initial 200 motors or was it a later generation?

Floatwheel is better than onewheel in everyway. There isnt even really a comparison. When you factor in the price and everything. If you buy Gt-s it just for future motions name

Not a fan of floatwheel yet, but maybe in the next few versions

XR type body, pint weight and watt hours so you can take it on an airplane. Also the bigger footpads. As a size 12, I am *not* a fan of the smaller style/pint like footpads. I'm not a range demon. Make it a pocket rocket, glorified grocery getter / shredder and I'd be all over it. 35 lbs on the GT was already too heavy and the floatwheel just continues the trend of heavyweight boards which is a full stop for me. Also I don't understand the hate for the 6.5" hub. I don't ride trails much but I love the look of the bigger rim + how wide the tires can get. For example the performance tire is even wider than the Vega on the XR and I *love* it. I do appreciate that on the GT-S (which I own) FM went lighter and not heavier. That's how we should be going as an industry IMO.

@@TheFloatLifefor me it’s mostly just them being a newer company still. I didn’t buy OW immediately when it came out either. Let’s see how float wheel behaves over time. I bought meepo a few years ago when they had a similar dynamic to Boosted and I was burned by it. Ecosystem and aesthetic are important to me so I still like OW, but I’m rooting for Float Wheel

Excellent video thank you! 👍👍 How do we program the AdV? Can be done via Android, apple crap wireless? Herd can program it with known program set ups that some like for doing x y or a. How do we find them? Hopefully the aftermarket will follow AdV by next spring when I plan on getting a AdV pro. Would like flight fins or similar,fender with since I've become spoiled with them on my XR

Jeff - thanks for another great video. I’m in the camp of not wanting to give FM another dime after dealing with a repair when the cheap motor cable connector on my GT fried both my controller and motor. That said, I haven’t seen a great video of how the differences in the ADV and the GTS affect the ride. Namely weight, FM vs. VESC software, and the torque curve. Would love to see a video that speaks to some of those differences and how they impact trail riding and pavement riding. Thanks for everything you do!!!

Nice comparison, do you have any experience with onewheel gts max amp charge for "aliexpress" charger? Original hypercharger says 3.5Amps so would it be save to charge at least 4 amps at 113v?

I was looking at GTs but now I want an ADV. A board with electronics to program and replace? That's like a dream fantasy. It's too bad there are none for sale.

For world market outside of USA the shipping costs & times are big issues. Sold up and bought ADVPro for this RtoR.

Several years ago, I was trying to decide between a OW and an Ebike. At the time, the GT had recently come out, and they were having their ghosting issues, and people weren't happy with the new proprietary tire. Decided on the ebike, and never really looked back at OW... Now that some decent people are giving them some competition, I might look back at it a bit.

I've had a onewheels since they came out... I would have preferred to stay a loyal customer but the price does matter these days, adv is a higher performance product, and the gts is overpriced, it should have been in the 2500 range and then it would have been at least a closer call, but when you compare 1800 vs 3400, this isn't even close, sorry onewheel, you no longer have a monopoly and all these lawsuits look weak, just compete like a capitalist and let's get this sport to a new level, competition is good for everyone, let's all get the adv and put onewheel on notice
@GiovanniGiorgo11 ай бұрын
I went ADV, and I’m so glad I did. Crazy power, fair price, unlimited customization and I can fix it myself. The ADV is 100% not for everyone and in many cases the GTS is the better choice. 2 different products for 2 different markets.

With the amount of power now available being pretty much all you could safely hope to harness on a onewheel tyoe platform, it makes me wonder what improvements and variations will happen in the next decade to the platform.

I was quoted 400$ just to send my XR in for a repair, a repair that i'd love to do myself if they'd only sell me the fkn parts. Also its a huge hassle when you live in Europe.

Thanks for being unbiased. One other thing not mentioned was that future motion did not acknowledge issues with their boards for the longest time. Ghosting and footpads activation…. Tony from floatwheel on the other hand, immediately rectified all issues immediately upon identification, let the community know what happens and why, and then sent feee replacements. Did FM do anything like this? Hmmm
@smokeyBJJ Жыл бұрын
I was finished with FM when my GT died with 28% battery left. They wanted me to ship my board from Canada to California and wasn’t going to cover repairs because I had WTF rails. I decided to not send it in, and instead I disabled the “Charge to 90%” feature on the OW app and guess what? My battery now gets the range it’s supposed to. I swear that 90% feature is there to unbalance cells and cause users problems so they have to contact FM. Altho my GT now works properly, I no longer ride it and only ride my ADV now.

Jeff, we all know ADV is the better buy. Higher speed, more range, total software customization. Can repair yourself. Half the price. Be real. Don’t cater to future motion.

I think he presented it fairly, comparing them in categories. Everyone has a different value judgement on a particular category; for example, price might be the main thing, or it might not matter… depends on who you are. Some people love to customize and build, others it’s a nightmare. So it all depends on what you value. But I think FW is giving the community something that they value, which FM fails to recognize or provide for.

He was soft on FM.
@Alex-ge6fo Жыл бұрын
He said all those things - what video did you watch? I see some people have become so polarized against FM, they have lost any sense of balanced viewpoint. To the point of everything FM does/makes is sh*t and FW can do no wrong (even when they do wrong, well it's ok). As we should all expect, Jeff sought to present a fair/balanced viewpoint of these two products and I think he largely succeeded in that. Viewers can watch this and see what is important to them and make their own decisions.
