Next time do a test from 30 yards away and put 1/2 inch plywood then milk jug, then 1/2 plywood, make like a ice cream sandwich. Then shoot that will be more realistic Good video 👍

Great video! The reason you saw different results between the milk jugs and the 2 liters is because the stiffer plastic of the 2 liters allowed the plastic to go back to its original shape and effectively make a “valve” much like the valve we see in ketchup bottles. The milk jugs however, just stay open and allow water to freely pour.

These are always fun test even if infield results on animals doesn’t mirror the findings here. One thing I noticed and should point out in the aspect of the penetration portion of the test specifically on the G5 M3 was the most probable reason for the lesser penetration was bc the feral of the broadhead was smaller then the insert/arrow shaft resulting in a major pinch factor and essentially putting the brakes on the arrow. Maybe something to consider when testing so as to not have the result skewed as well as show people the importance of properly sizing arrows and or broadheads to on another. .

The deer I have shot with Ramcats lost blades in the scapula. Not the thicker part but the thin portion of the scapula. Then it turned into a field tip.
@TechnicallyOutdoors715 Жыл бұрын
That’s interesting, I have seen ramcats kill lots of critters without any big problem! Did you recover your deer?
@tray22 Жыл бұрын
@TechnicallyOutdoors715 Recovered the deer and both halves of my arrow. The blades didn't make it to the lungs. I had very little blood. The arrow sections helped find the deer. I gave up on all broadheads that come apart. Never had a problem with montec g5 but I went to cutthroats to get premium steel.
@TechnicallyOutdoors715 Жыл бұрын
G5 montecs make a great head! Im going to keep reviewing broadheads you all killed this video!
@tray22 Жыл бұрын
@TechnicallyOutdoors715 After the ramcat experience, I decided to judge all broadheads by the KISS method, and knowing they are flying knives, I want knife steel. Not injection molded that is more difficult to keep sharp. I, however, kill three deer in a single season with the same arrow and the same g5 montec head. Only on the third one, I buried the arrow on exit into a creek bed and blunted the tip on a rock. They are nearly bullet-proof heads.

Ramcats Hydroshock are NOT going to pivot around bone. That's not how the design works - it just pivots to rotate back when pulling out of a target or animal to make it non barbed and legal in all states.
@TechnicallyOutdoors715 Жыл бұрын
Ive had ramcats be pushed up against something hard and pivot/flip up around them. They are double sided so you still get a cut.

Cool video but you know what I never understood is people talk alot abut Durability in broadheads, but they'll spend the same amount on an arrow and nobody thinks twice if it gets snapped when they hit a deer... So for me if the Broadhead goes all the way through. I don't care if it's trashed as long as it put them down Just buy replacement blades..
@TechnicallyOutdoors715 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree arrow’s durability is just as important. However I do believe a broadhead should be durable enough to go through a deer without breaking. My next video is going to be on amazon broadheads!

It's not gonna go through if it's too damaged before it gets past the first set of ribs or wherever you hit. Most of the time if you're shooting a broadhead with replaceable blades, that weak aluminum ferrule is gonna be destroyed anyways

I’ve never seen any tests this hilariously ridiculous in my life. Water jugs and 3/4” plywood. Any head can be destroyed if used on materials NOT DESIGNED to use on.

The plywood is to simulate a shoulder blade of an animal , as they are both extremely dense material!
