Great knowledge share. Always jealous of the time you have to hike.

Great video! Got the opportunity to visit the BWCA and hike the Border Route Trail in October. One of my all time favorites! Timing is everything on avoiding insects and the fall colors.

THE best online introduction to hiking in the BWCA. Many thanks for the good work that you put into making this invaluable resource available.

Your videos may be the best advertisement for the BCWA. It's a long way from Connecticut, so I have never hiked it. From your videos, I like the Border Route Trail the best. Keep up the good work!

Great info. The BWCA is on our list for both a hiking and canoeing adventure. Hopefully we’ll get up there sooner than later. Nice job. Thanks for the info

Good list, I agree with #1 and #2 rankings. I would drop the Kek and replace the Caribou/Moss loop into the list. Good stuff!
@MidwestBackpacker Жыл бұрын
How long is the loop you mentioned?
@petescharber8567 Жыл бұрын
@@MidwestBackpacker I think it is about 16 mile loop. The Rose Cliffs loop combines and uses parts or all of 4 different trails (Moss Lake Trail, South/Partridge Lake trail, BRT, and Caribou Rock Trail.

@@petescharber8567I looked into this new loop a few years ago when I read about it somewhere but information was hard to find. Did a brief look just now and did find a map on All Trails but nothing else. Do you know where to get detailed information about this loop? I did the in and out Caribou Rock Trail 6 or 7 years ago as it was ranked the hardest day hike trail in the state in one of my guidebooks... and I agree with that assessment.

any suggestions on what trail offers best campsites with fishing ability from them, or even access to areas on shorelines that offer fishing opportunities? Great run down of these trails. I've only ever paddled the bwca over the last 25 years, never have done a hiking focused trip so your info is invaluable!

I am not the guy to ask about fishing. Sorry.

If you camp on any large lake you'll compete for campsites with canoers. Good campsite, good lake= canoers.

Last I checked the BWCA is administered by the Forest Service, part of the Superior National Forest, and is bordered by Voyageurs National Park. It was actually protected as a roadless area as early as 1902. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boundary_Waters_Canoe_Area_Wilderness
