I ended up getting a lower interior option to get the HTC and the Z51 option which is a must. I will prob wait to let the hype and prices to come down to get the Z06. Most likely they will be sold out for a few years.

That's a super point, which I hadn't actually considered. Good enough that I may just bump up to the 3LZ. Sometimes it's just a matter of reframing your thoughts or looking at things from a different angle. Big thanks for that insight! Have a great day! -Fred

Awww...Yeah...It's Fredday Again...Ha ha ha! Welcome back Fred, yep I figured something went wrong last week. I checked my notification settings, subscription to your channel and your listed video's...ha ha ha, trying to make sure I didn't miss something! Low and behold, KZbin problems. Well, I'll be watching that one next! I have never really considered going the 3LZ route with my interior except for the 70th Ann. C8, because I was thinking of ordering the package. But as of now, it doesn't look like my C8 allocation will fall in the 2023 model year unless it's at the very end of the production year. Otherwise with both of my C8 & Z06 builds, I have always chose the 2LT or LZ packages. What I am really interested in seeing now is if the 2023 Color of "Minted Green" will make a surprise visit to the color pallet since the NFT Auction was a huge disaster! Just think if one person bid the entry amount $250K ish, then that would have been the cheapest 1 of 1 Z06 to date. Honestly, it's was my favorite based on the color alone, but I definitely wasn't trying to figure out NFT's to bid or trying to come up with that $250K entry bid. GM should have stuck with Barrett's Auctions style and went for the win! Now, I hope they don't cancel that amazing color based on poor auction results. Anyway, be well -Shane

Thanks for covering this and glad to see your video show back up in the feed! I’m pretty set on a 3LZ as I want all the carbon fiber I can get inside. I will also track the Z06 about 4-6 times a year but I’m not out to set any records. So I’d rather have the creature comforts and additional interior options. Thanks again. No reply needed 😊

Ditto on not setting records at the track. When I use to run Road Atlanta there were 30 cars on the track, so passing was limited to certain areas to keep everyone safe. Since there were a range of cars and drivers, it is difficult to optimize your car. I will be going to the track as often as possible but I will be putting many more miles driving in the mountains than at the track.

Fred, You had me concerned last Friday. I was OMG is Fred ok??? I was going to reach out but thought that if you could not make the weekly video, you probably don't need me bothering you! Regarding trim pkg: Going through the Z06 build options, the interior that really checks all my boxes for the look I want is the 3LZ. Since the car will be Red Mist HTC w/ Z07, and my favorite interior color is adrenaline red, to off-set the 2 different color reds, the 3LZ with 2-tone GT-2 seats and level 2 carbon fiber leaves just the right amount of interior red that I have the look I want on the inside without conflicting with the red mist exterior. Keep in mind, as the book says, "All Corvettes Are Red." our last Corvette was MagRed. 👍 Sully

The more I think about it, the ZO6 is something I’d like to have, but the practicality and purpose of it’s existence (Track Focused) really doesn’t suit my place in time in my life. I can afford to leave my deposit with MM and will do that, but the odds are greater than 70% I won’t get the car. My age and health is also at question as again to the practicality of ownership. My place in line is over 1650, so I won’t see an allocation for how many years? That will provide the necessary time for evaluation of the car and weigh again the +/- reasons to consider a purchase. My first Corvette was purchased 4/30/1981 for $9,000. It was a 1976 Bright Blue T-Top with 5,000 miles on it. It was on the showroom floor of the local Chevrolet dealership where I had my order placed for a 1981 Z 28. I took the Corvette out for a 3-4 hour test drive (the salesman knew me and said, “just get it back before we close”) and asked when I returned to the dealership, can I cancel my Z28 order and buy the Corvette? As luck would have it, he said “a woman has been asking about ordering a Z28 specked with the options you have for your build”. So the next day, I bought the Corvette. I kept that C3 until May of 2020 when I determined to trade it even up for a much needed $10,000 Toro Zero Turn Mower from a local Lawn Mower Dealership. Reason to sell: The C3 needed a paint job that no one wanted to do, or they wanted between $10,000 to $20,000 to repaint it. It also needed a lot of additional work that a car that old required. Basically a restoration was going to cost more than what the car could ever sell for. It just seemed to be a practical matter to do that and it cut my mowing down to 2 1/2 hours instead of 5-6. I have a beautiful 2009 C6 Z51 2LT Crystal Red Tintcoat with 7,200 miles on it, yes “a Garage Queen” I purchased off the Showroom Floor as a Retirement Present to myself that I wish I had driven more. The wife thinks I should sell it, but I don’t think I would get what I feel it is worth to me, even though the market on cars is way up. I might go around to some dealers to see what they might offer. I probably ran the following by you and possibly all of the above. Just respond so much, I can’t recall them all. Senior Moment I guess? Maybe some of the meds lol? Then in July of 2021, I was fortunate to be the guy that was at the right place at the time! I was the first person to place a $5,000 deposit down for a C8. As you know, I just passed the Break In mileage and have been out a few times, but not in many areas “that I could get on it”! In a few short spirited acceleration pulls, I feel it has more than enough power for my satisfaction…. The ZO6 at 670 would be an animal for sure. I’ve always been more of a straight line person vs track, another Strike Against ZO6 for me. I perhaps might be looking at another C8 or C9 future offering, GS/E-Ray or whatever. My age, 67, and moreover my health (being on chemo, now going into my 4th year) also doesn’t make a lot of sense to be out there in a ZO6! We went down the road before regarding want vs need. Yes, I want the ZO6, but why? Do I need the ZO6? Not really! It’s more about the chase in some ways and yes, maybe bragging rights, going to shows, but that only lasts until something new and better comes out. So, I think the 2022 will do for now. The next vehicle will be to replace my Daily Driver: 2006 Ford Explorer Limited with 152,000 miles. Still going strong and the AC works well. A good vehicle in most respects. PA winters have taken their toll on the frame my Inspection Mechanic has told me. As long as I don’t have any costly repairs it will stay as the DD. I need All Wheel Drive/4 Wheel Drive, so I might use the 2013 low mileage 328 BMW, but from what Scotty says on his channel, I’m wondering if I should try to trade it or drive it? My wife wants me to keep it, but I’m thinking some SUV might be a better selection. Will make that decision once the Explorer is no longer my DD. Fred: Your channel keeps growing, Congratulations! I appreciate the responses I receive from you and see you devote similar responses to others. You can’t get time in your life back. There are things I regret not doing with my son. Once he went off to college 2011, then Med School, then a 3 year residency that he completed in June, then signing a 2 year contract to work in NJ as a Hospitalist, 11 years have passed and there’s been very little contact due to many circumstances. So, if you need to shorten things up, I understand that. I will not be offended. As always, I so much enjoy your Vlogs!!! I wish we lived closer to each other, I could have you take the C8 out from time to time! Even though there’s a pretty good age difference, 67 to yours, it would be fun to hang out at Cars and Coffee and such. Have a great weekend!!! Doug

Hi Travis, I believe that's true about the natural dipped interior. Based on the visualizer, that's what I see. I appreciate the support for 2 vids per week, I wish I could. As it stands I'm so completely flat out that I frequently *barely* get a video out for each Friday. The last couple weeks my videos have been uploading late on Thursday night, and I've been nervous about them processing in time to be ready for 8am. Between work and my personal life, YT takes a back seat to those things, and for now I can't sway too much further towards a more aggressive schedule. I enjoy making videos, but it's really my lack of available time that's the killer. I'm hoping to squeeze in a few "bonus" videos this fall, as my outdoor activities taper off a bit (have been doing a lot of ocean jetskiing recently), so hopefully that will help give you more to enjoy! I appreciate the support though, and over time as the channel gets bigger I hope to do more frequent videos. Have a nice day Travis! -Fred

Wow, back in 2009, I went to pick my son up at a party he attended. I was in my C6 that was just a week old from when I purchased it on 5/5/2009. The father of the kid, hosting the end of school party came out to see the car. After he saw my car, he invited me into his garage. In there was a 2005 Ford GT! It was blue with white stripes. He was a home construction builder and his house was one of the nicer ones in our area. I didn’t have the opportunity to go inside, but my son described it as over the top. (I know 2008 & 2009 was a bad time for the Stock Market, but I don’t recall the housing market). He knew my wife was a doctor and I guess he thought we must have a lot of money because he said if we were interested in buying his house, he was selling it for $2,300,000 and the Ford GT was up for sale. He didn’t give me a price on the Ford GT as I recall, but we didn’t have the kind of money he thought we had. We’re just regular people, some doctors don’t make as much as people think. They do well, but some live/spend from paycheck to paycheck just like a lot of other people. Had I known back in 2009, the Ford GT would be such a collectible vehicle, I might have tried to find a way to purchase that car. But $140,000 to $150,000 for a car was/is still a lot of money (2023 ZO6 money)!!! LOL, I had a better shot of getting a Ford GT than of getting 2023 ZO6! Which one would you choose if you had the opportunity? To get a Ford GT today for a regular car enthusiast is unrealistic/impossible….. I don’t recall what criteria you had to have back in the first years of production other than a large bank account. I do recall our local Ford dealership had a Ford GT in their showroom, but I never stopped to see it. I was a Corvette guy. I’d stop at the Chevy dealerships to look at the Corvette(s) and drool over them. Would have, could have, should have!!!

Aero pkg for the z07 look is a must for me with the batwing and dive planes and splitter for sheer meaness and to match the boomerang better as have a problem with it on base z06 look. Hope I have the full bank to back 3lz for the stitching and carbon 2 pkg to make it truly feel exotic on inside but also want engine appearance pkg and if have to go z07 for spoiler, splitter and dive planes then the ceramics will also cost me so really topping the high end of budget for the build before pricing has officially released cause I've taken a massive bath in the stock market. In a twist of fate Canada only gets 1000 c8's a year so z06 allocations will be sparse. So maybe my holdings bounce back so I have more to draw down on to pay for the full dream build....cause I'm probably 2024 at the very least.

I wanted the carbon fiber steering wheel and better material and leather plus I was interested in the carbon fiber 2 option and the dipped natural interior. Not sure about that color now as I understand that there is glare onto the windshield. With a partial natural or red interior, the carbon fiber 2 option displaces much of the color except the seats. Be nice if the build your own website was all inclusive with such details so you could look at that. I figure that maybe I could hope to see cars with various options before I actually get to order a car. I'm not real concerned about saving money at the expense level we are at anyway. What I never understood, was a expensive sound system in a performance car. What sense does that make. If your thing is music get an electric car that is silent rather than a car designed to sound great at idle or high RPMs. The previous generation of Ford GTs had an option of a Macintosh radio for $4000. I also recall long past ads for Alpine Radio that showed a Lamborghini Countach as that is what they put in those cars stock.

thanks Fred, how much over MSRP would you tell your subs to pay, disregarding their financial status.
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tweety Bird, I'll do my best to give an honest answer, but there will be a few caveats. Some of the variables at play here: - How much someone wants the car, and what their situation is (are they retired, still working, getting older and maybe don't have a lifetime ahead of them to enjoy it, etc... - As much as you said to disregard the financial side, it does come into play, and what feels "comfortable" for me, won't feel the same way for someone else, and so on. - What the pricing comes out to for the desired build (and the car/options in general). Here's what I'd say (and I promise I'm not hedging): Spend as much as you believe the car is WORTH (critically) *TO YOU*. Let me explain. If you want the car at MSRP, you can get it. Dealerships out there, like MacMulkin has been (not sure if they're still taking deposits), are willing to do MSRP. The catch is, you'll be quite a few years back in line (in most cases). I've been on enough forums, facebook groups, and message boards to see that there still are some smaller dealerships out there without a high number of reservations, who will do MSRP. It's a bit of a hunt, but they are out there. Which gets to my opening point up above: How much do you want the car? If you can't get it first year (or second, third, or fourth), do you still want it? A lot of people on lists (heck, myself included) are doing mental math of what other cars would they consider for similar (or maybe less) money. Here's myself doing that same mental math: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6KugqKBicaHqbs Truth be told, the Z06 will be awesome, but far from the only awesome car out there. Within a couple years, a low miles used one will be available probably no matter where you live in the country. If you really want the car, you'll be able to get one, even if it has a few miles on it (which let's be honest) is what you're hopefully going to do with the car. To elaborate on that last bit. Money plays a big factor for me (as I'm sure it does for many). I have enough to buy the car outright (if I trade in my C7 GS too), or take a small loan if I want, based on what I expect the pricing to be +/- about 10k. However, what if the pricing is significantly different. What if the base car is $100k even, instead of around 90k (my guess/hope). What if just a few options (2lz, HTC, etc...) push you into the $130k range. As much as I love the Z06, and think it'll be amazing, it's amazing to me for a certain range of money. Stray too far from that range, and other options compete with it. Sure the Z may be faster than anything up till well into the $200k range, BUT (and it's a big but for me), speed isn't the thing that interests me most about the car. The sound, the engagement, and the fun of driving is. My manual C7 GS is without a doubt one of the best cars I've ever driven, wrapped in among the best styling of any car I've ever seen, and.....it's fully paid off. To me at a certain point, perhaps double the MSRP of my C7, I don't think I'd go beyond that for the C8 Z. If money is no object, there'll be a way to get the car first year. There are plenty of dealerships with low reservation lists because of high markup. If the car means a lot to you, then I'd say pay what you think the car is worth to you. If it's already a pricey car, and pushing the limits of a responsible budget (not impacting any of your other expenses), then I'd suggest considering a regular C8, or a C7, or heck maybe something from another maker. The car bubble is starting to break, used cars are not fetching prices they were a couple months ago, and the new car market is starting to follow as well. Fast forward to early next year, and I think the landscape will be a bit of a different place, and it won't be nearly as common to see big markups on most cars. So bringing it back to your original question, I'd say think a bit about what matters most for you for a car, and see if the Z checks all the right boxes. If not, it doesn't mean that the Z is a bad car, or that there's a problem, it may just mean there are other cars out there that fit your life better, that you may have more fun with. Life's too short to have too large a chunk of money tied up on one thing (unless you have tons of money, or it's maybe your only hobby/interest). Hope this somehow helps, sorry if it's rambling a bit. Have a nice day, and thanks for reaching out! -Fred

So if I was getting 2LZ, after tax and other fees, it would be around 136k… it’s insane for a blue collar working man like me. I don’t really need all the tech which came with the 2LZ package!!

Hi Slapsilly, The Stingray is a great car, and incredibly capable, go for it! Do you have a Corvette now, or will this be your first? -Fred

None. No one can Afford the car.

Hi Gabe, Not quite sure what you're getting at, as plenty of people can afford the car. It's certainly expensive, but not impossible. Have a nice day, -Fred

@@FredsFullThrottle just making a comment on these cars. While I understand the car still represents a value compared to exotics. A well optioned z06 will be 160k after taxes. To truly afford the car you would have to be worth 2 to 3 million dollars and a decent income. The percentage of people in the USA that have that type of worth is about 5 percent of households. Even at the level to put almost 10 percent of your worth into a toy is stretching it. Sure alot more can gain financing. But that doesn’t mean the person can afford it

@@Philippinesbound42 thanks for clarifying a bit. I don't think all/most buyers will be getting a fully loaded car (I know I won't for example). Also, a person exercising *good judgement* about IF they can really afford the car, isn't at all a requirement to buy the car. I get your point and agree that people shouldn't be impacting their other finances or over extending to buy the car, but I will also say that someone who saves up for years to buy the car (such as I did for my C7 and for this one), very well can afford it, even if their income doesn't align with what you've outlined above. There are many ways to make it happen, which come back to how much someone wants it, how much of a priority cars are in their life. Have a nice evening, -Fred
