Housing values holding firm. Reality is that the economy has changed post COVID. Boomers retired. Young workers went mobile. Gig economy replacing traditional employment. A few examples of discounts does not mean market is crashing. The dealers could be just trying to draw in buyers to their dealerships and then play the games they usually do.

I got burned by the over. Got a Z06 very early paid $30k over and 10% sales tax. Was going to flip it. Stored it and kept it at5 miles. The GM 6 month hold destroyed the market. Was ready to sell at msrp. Fortunately found a great buyer and only lost $25k on the sale. The Z06 is a great car at MSRP. Not at anything over. PS I bought a car from you at Bachman.

I believe the U.S. market for sports cars is for front engined models, and not the mid or rear engine cars we have on sale today. Further, the Corvette has no exclusive features, whereas customers always want something in a sports car that nobody else's car has. Dave Kindig, of Kindig-It-Cars (and he has a weekly show on the Motor Trend Channel) has built a one-off prototype front engined LS V-12 of 9 liters with over 1000 streetable horsepower. The engine was a custom build by a prototype company in Australia, but GM could build it on a 10,000 unit basis at their foundry for hardly any more than a normal LS V-8. Its just an LS in every respect, but with 4 more cylinders. That was the allure of the Viper, it had an 8-liter V-10 with 650 hp, which was the drawing card to it. If a V-10 was good for the Viper, then a V-12 Corvette would work for Chevy. Offer either a 6-speed Tremec manual or a GM 10-speed auto at no price difference, and price it for an $80.000 absolute max, fully equipped car. Prohibit dealer jacked-up prices. In fact, have Chevy retain ownership of the car and the dealer just gets a commission, so as to avoid dealer added markups. At the $80K max retail price level, GM could sell more than they could possibly produce. Oh, and as to the Kindig designed prototype, GM honchos are prohibited from F*CKING around and adding little touches here and there so as to assuage their oversized egos. No doodling around with cosmetics, up to, and through the GM CEO. There are videos of the Kindig prototype V-12 Corvette Coupe on KZbin, and if you will take the time to watch the video, you will be thunderstruck at the beauty of the car. I believe Kindig made his car's body with Carbon Fiber, but the average retail customers would be happy with fiberglass, if carbon fiber bodies proved to be too expensive to mass produce.

If they got rid of the middleman and sold direct to the public, shrunk dealerships into service centers only and passed the saving onto consumers more people would buy new cars.

I'm confused. If you can now get a brand new C8 for MSRP or under, why are 3-4 year old used C8s with approx 50k miles still $50k-$60k? When will the used market start to reflect the new one?

Been selling sports cars for three decades and the Z06 has gotten out of hand with the price disparity. You’re just not getting that much more over the stingray with this model. I’ve owed 17 over the last two decades and wouldn’t buy the current one when the C8 is so much more reasonable with a time proven engine that relatively inexpensive.

Bro really works at a chevy dealer and said that the 3ray has no purpose or its pointless, brother the eray is meant to the equivilant of a grandsport corvette, it has the same body style as a z06 but without the z06 motor but this time it has way more hp than a regular c8 and it beats a c8 z06 in the quarter mile.
