Which car to get? Traxxas 4-tec 2.0 Ford GT Mustang or 3.0 Corvette or Supra GT4 3.0

You touched on it a bit, but very important to know the 2.0 is the standard 200m width and 256m wheelbase which is the universal 1/10 scale. There are 100's of bodies you can get that fit those exact dimension, where as the 4tec 3.'0's you are limited to just the bodies Traxxas offers.

It's a good thing you bring it up. A lot of people what to turn these into speed demons. The body aero makes or breaks the car. The Corvette body... not the best for high speed. Hopefully more people read your comment for this reason.

I have a stang 2.0 and Vette 3.0 you are spot on with driving abilities. Both are currently getting swapped to brushless. Not going for max speed, but for diving enjoyment. That Supra is hot, would like to add to the lineup

Which 4tec would you advise for a hoon build? Looking to slide around a corner but still be able to take off like a demon after said corner… much like how the new XO-1 can slide into controlled drifts but still grip-n-rip. The corvette 3.0 is hard to get to slide I’ve heard but man I love the looks! If I could get it handling more like the new XO-1 I’d be so happy

I would go with the Corvette 3.0. The smallest hoon tires I am familiar with are about 89mm. So they would look better on the longer chassis. Unless you got the hoonitruck tires. Then the 2.0 would be great. But those are not as cool tires are the larger hoons. Although, the 2.0 out of the box is fun to power slide as is.

Out of curiosity, I am looking to pick up and build a more casual "basher" 2.0. How would the 2400kv hobbywing compare to the 4000k in the 2.0? If I don't want more than about 40mph, am I better off getting the 2400kv for better battery life and running it on 2s, or should I get the 4000kv motor still, run it on 3s and just gear it down? I'm honestly not sure what motor to go with since I don't want the speed, and don't need the torque. I just want a fun car to slide around in the street or do casual laps on a grip track.

The brushed is fun enough. But, if you are building it, say you have a roller, I would probably go with the HW 3200Kv 3660 SCT system. It is good all around. Good speed on 2s, good torque, and good battery run time. The 4-Tec line does not handle heavy batteries well. So try to keep them under 300g. The Gens Ace Redline 8200mAh battery is probably the heaviest I would go with.

One feature the Ford GT comes with is TSM, I don’t think the Mustang has it and the Corvette isn’t advertised with it as well.

The Corvette just comes with a TQ... so no TSM. The early Mustang's also had a TQ. The last one I bout has a TQi. But that is a very good point for those who like TSM. 👍

Not just TSM, but ALL the great features of a TQi radio come only with the Ford GT rtr.

2.0... It uses a 200mm body. So any 200mm body fits it if you eventually need a new body (I have a 60's Mustang for example). You can also remove the brake calipers and fit standard TC wheels for better traction and less drifting. But I like the way it drive out of the box. Keep in mind the 4-Tec 2.0 is my favorite "bashing" car. If you are doing a stock 4-Tec... 2.0. The 2.0 is lighter and handles better.

@@Gooche Supra is way better than the Corvette. But it is still heavier than a 2.0 and used the same motor, esc, and differentials are the same. Most important, the 2.0 used body clips. My nephew used my 3.0 Corvette to enter in Rookie. The body kept flying off every time he hit something. I guess you could tape the Supra body to the chassis from the sides. But if you want a Supra, get a Supra. It is way better than the Corvette. Especially the out of the box tire.

@@telecomandorc I think the brushless 2.0 roller had some adjustable turnbuckles too. My LHS has a 2.0 VXL in stock and fits standard bodies which I hadn’t considered so I might grab. Traxxas getting pricey in 🇨🇦

@@RCPMK It is pricey here as well. The Mustang GT use to be $260. Not it is $310. A Slash use to be $190 and now they are $220 at the shops or $230 from Traxxas. All since summer. The VXL chassis is $380. That use to be the price of the VXL Ford GT back when they offered it. Then again... everything has gone up here... you should see our food prices. 😕

2.0 because you can find really good belted tires and bodies. I am using Sweeps but there are others. The 3.0's issue is tires.

You can make some holes for the body post to fit in. The inside of the tires would just rub parts of the body so you would have to do some trimming. I guess you could make it "fit" but you would have to either lift the body up from the tires of cut out quite a bit of the sides to prevent rubbing during steering.

Speaking about motors... We use to be able to get LRP Dynamite 10L (I believe that was the model). They were 36x70mm cans and they would scream. I had a 3500kv and they used to make a 4700kv, I believe, that was 3s capable. By the time I decided to get one about 3 years ago, they were no longer available.
