I opted for a standard visa, which means that it will take four weeks to get a response on my visa application. I recently heard that the rules have changed and after 11th March, healthcare workers cannot bring their dependents with them. My question is, if I receive my visa after 11th March, will I be able to bring my dependent in the future? Also, if I will get my visa decision after 11th March and I will be unable to bring my dependent, can I change my application from standard to priority so that I can get a decision before 11th March?

@@111badminton well this is a very tricky situation as the main applicant is becoming a dependent. I recommend doing everything to get a visa before 11 march to be on the safer side.

Drear Dr. sab.. the second factsheet is a blog and not immigration rules site. So its not creadible. If you read new rules that are published on 19 February, its cleared that students cannot stay with or bring over dependents. Please read immigration rules changes published on 19 February..

I have checked the document explaining rules published on 19 Feb and it does not negate any of the statements made earlier by home office neither did it particularly mention that those on students visa staying in uk with dependents will not be allowed to live with dependents on care visa. Secondly, the students CAN stay with dependents but cannot bring dependents after 1 Jan 2024 (except some Msc and Phd students).

Hello Dr. sab, here is the exact wording I copied from explanatory memorandum to the statement of changes… “Remove the provision for dependants to accompany or join workers sponsored in these occupation codes (other than providing for children born in the UK to regularise their stay).” I hope it will help..

@@noorcs22 As a student of law, I still believe that this only relates to 1) those outside UK that they won’t be able to ACCOMPANY dependents at the time of coming to UK and 2) those inside UK without dependents that they won’t be able to BRING dependents (AFTER 11Mar)

Please ask some immigration lawyer to clarify.. They did not mention student or any other route in this document. They only talk about care visa. In paragraph 5.14, they have made transitional arrangements only for care workers. They did not mentioned any transitional arrangement for any other route.
