Funny, but honestly, a step by step for someone who has never had a pool before, this video is invaluable!! Yes, we likely wouldn’t be silly enough to leave our pool covers on, but including it keeps this video in line with being so simply explained that it’s fool proof!! And I’m prone to being foolish, so hopefully it will keep me safe from myself and my pool! 😂

Just drained my pool because of frogs laying eggs and when I brush the pool there is white debris that I cannot get rid of with chemicals. Once I clean the bottom of the pool of whatever is there, will I be able to just start it up the way you suggest in the video? Also how do I keep frogs out of the pool??

@adhventured3 жыл бұрын
Great and easy instructions! Question: I have been given superblue algaecide (copper sulphite pentahydrate) and told to add it to the pool upon opening it and after balancing the water. Is this useful in any way and would it help with the balancing and sanitising? I have a 4600gallon intex pool which is in the sun for most of the day.

So I am a new Pool owner and had just opened up my pool 2 weeks ago. I still haven’t manage to get pool clear. It’s blue but cloudy I can see bottom of Pool in shallow end. pH is at 7.2 and Total alkalinity was at a 92. I was gonna try to add baking soda to it but wasn’t to sure how much add... Those were the results I got from the pool and spa shop they also told me I needed to add 30 bags of shock to pool but I think it’s a little excessive to add that much. So I added 6 bags of shock and 6 bottles or liquid chlorine. Been skimming pools, brushing and cleaning baskets daily. Thoughts?

Is the shock considered the sanitizer, I'm confused about that part, i try to look up pool sanitizer and it pops up the shocks. Or can I do a liquid chlorine and then shock it with non liquid shock once a week?
@SwimUniversity8 ай бұрын
Chlorine is a sanitizer, and it comes in granules, tablets, or liquid chlorine. Shock is a LARGE dose of chlorine, which can sometimes just be doubling or tripling your dose of liquid chlorine. It can also be sold as cal-hypo or dichlo shock.

Hey I'm thinking about starting a pool cleaning business over the summer. I'd plan to have a job set up as a backup, but do you think the overhead costs will be super high that it wouldn't be worth it?? I've been watching these videos and really think I could handle the cleaning and maintenance aspects, but don't want to invest so much and come in way too far over my head. Thanks for the help!

My advice is go for it, you can figure out which houses have pools and add a flyer your prices. The known pool companies are very high on prices so you should be able to be competitive in that. If all fails you can keep or sell your stuff at half price at worst. And you have gained/schooled the experience or running a small business. In small business it’s typical fail a few times before hitting the right one so go for it.

I just had my pool replastered (13K gallons). I am in the process of balancing out the TA and pH. Once that is done I plan on adding a bottle of conditioner (CYA). Question, once this is all done, can I shock the pool to get the chlorine level up? Or should I just add chlorine tablets to the skimmer?
@SwimUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Add your sanitizer like chlorine and test your chlorine levels to make sure they’re in the proper range before shocking

Absolutely, open your pool, shock it, let it settle then test water 2 days later... from there you add salt 🧂 😉

Can you take off the winter cover and put on the solar cover and open later? It’s currently highs in the mid 40s- lower 50s and lows in the mid 30s. Everything is thawed out and had a bunch of rain so the pool filled back up. I want to take the winter cover off but not necessarily get the filter out and running yet. Thoughts?
@SwimUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Just know that with a solar cover, you're now attracting heat to a pool without the filter running, which makes it an algae incubator. If the temperature is low, algae can't grow. But as long as it's not over 70 degrees, you should be fine. Check out our other video for help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnuxdKiceJuleck

Quest. Why do all the shock bags say that one bag is for 10,000 gallons if you need 2 per every 10,000? If that’s the case that’s mis advertising their product and I’ve been doing it all wrong this whole time. In my first pool, that was 7000 gallons so I just one. Now in my 22foot pool I’ve been using 2, but technically I need 2 and a half to 3 sense my pool is more than 10,000 gallons, like at around 12,000 I think.
