Luxardo and Amarena are both very good but I recently found US Peninsula Cherries and they are also very very good.

New subscriber. Costco sells a GIGANTic jar of those Amarena cherries which are also great on vanilla ice cream on those non drinking nights. Luxardo cherries and a little syrup in a good Rye whiskey are also delicious. Enjoyed the video you have good personality for this. Thanks for sharing

I've just recently purchased a jar of Luxardo cherries and would have to say that though the taste and texture are a bit interesting, I was still slightly disappointed. They tasted much more candied than I had expected. The best thing about them is the texture and the crack of the skin. I've never tried the Amarena, but what I have used frequently and still seem to prefer are the Tillen Farms Bada Bing cherries. I'm sure that I'll be scoffed at by many, but to me, they are the best thing to have at the bottom of a Perfect Manhattan.

Fabbri have been my go-to for a few years now. I like a barspoon of the juice in there too. I'll have to try the Luxardos.

Sounds crazy, but the “great value” brand from Walmart, cocktail cherries are amazing! Much better than most of the “premium” cocktail cherries I have tried!

Do you refrigerate your Luxardo...? I'm finding there better when at room temp...

I do refrigerate them, just so I'm sure they won't spoil over the long time it takes me to finish one jar. Still, most bars in Italy used to have these big amarena Fabbri jars on display on shelves. So I'm not so sure refrigeration is an absolute necessity. On the other side, once you drop a refrigerated cherry in a Manhattan, it takes really no time for the cherry to reach the temperature of its surroundings, so I don't see a problem with refrigeration either.

If you read the luxardo label it specifically says NOT to refrigerate. It will cause some of the sugars in the syrup to crystallize. Totally true, as I learned to my distress the hard way a few years ago.

The English label says "do not refrigerate". The Italian label says "Please refrigerate". Back label here www.amazon.it/LUXARDO-ORIGINAL-MARASCHINO-CHERRIES-400/dp/B07PVBKRLC I don't know why the discrepancy, but in my opinion you can just refrigerate for longer shelf life. I refrigerate them and they are fine. Probably the best would be keeping them in a cool cellar.

Wal Mart has their store brand called “premium cocktail cherries” They are more than good enough for me
