Great job at shooting out these petals James! I’ve been using an analog alien rumble seat for the last year or so I absolutely love it but that JHS sounds great too.

I’ll check that one! Nice one Thomas

JHS Milkman! I've probably owned over 50 delay pedals over the years. Most are pretty good for a quick slap and hard to tell apart, but you can tell the difference on slower, longer settings. Only one that ever really grabbed me though, was an Ibanez DDL, Which I still have. Also had many tape echo machines. Copicats, Roland space echos, Korg Stage echo. All good, but high maintenance. JHS Milkman, to me, is just rockabilly in a box. Light as a feather too, so great on the road and I love the boost function. Can't thank you enough for introducing me to it James! And my Vintera tele custom.

Milkman sounds good. I use the Strymon Deco. Some delays are able to emulate tape wear, wow and flutter etc, and will sound dark like worn tape if set that way.

I’ve tried the deco very good pedal

great video! I am looking for a new delay and think the milkman might be the one. I tried an aqua puss recently but it was a bit too underwater sounding for my taste. These are more suited to vintage styles. I have been interested in the nocturne mystery brain also.

Milkman is my favourite personally

I thought the Milkman was great and had a wonderful saturation. The Boss is also great as it's really clean, a high top and pops. I think it's nice to have both clean and saturated.

Good video! Did you get the Dano fixed. I have one that worked fine when I put it away in its box many years ago but now it doesn't.

Nice video. Thank you. I have a MXR Carbon Copy mini that either isn't very good at rockabilly slapback or I am not a very good operator. Would you suggest one of these pedals over it?
@jamesoliverguitar3 жыл бұрын
Ive never used one illl check it out now
@LeviBulger2 жыл бұрын
Not a great slapback on the carbon copy. It's good for longer grainier tones, but I'd recommend something like a Boss analog delay, or even their DD3 has a great slapback setting. If you're looking cheap, danelectro has great sounding slapback delays. If you want the best, nothing tops the old Macon/Ibanez AD80.

James Oliver Guitar Thank you! I just subscribed, so I’ll keep an eye out for it. I can get mine sounding pretty good, but really like how you have it set here.

You’ve sold me the Milkman. It is far superior. The Memphis has a character of its own but too much. I loved your face when you changed the settings of that one.

Years ago, DOD made a KILLER Analog Delay... All the Rockabillies that weren't using a Boss were using a DOD... I haven't seen one in forever, but of course I probably had 100 of them over the years.😬 Ashley Kingman, who plays Takeoff Guitar for in Big Sandy and his Fly Rite Boys, is currently using those cheap little Fender "chicklet" delays to great result.... And I can't even find one of those to save my life. I've had a Danelectro Dan-Echo for about 20 years... I guess it does me OK... But that Milk Man sounds wonderful!

Space echo takes a lot of beating, solidly made, batteries(6AA) last ages 10/10 Marshall echohead eats batteries in 25 mins unless alkaline, an absolute bastard trying to set up again if setting lost 2/10 Watkins copycat good if working Warning early models not earthed require modifcation & trying to find anyone that knows how to repair them or get parts a nightmare !
