The 💤 icon on the unclaimed lands means that they can’t attack, defend, puppet, invade, etc in the actions when you click on a nation you can click “disable nation ai” and that’s how you do it.

Too be clear, The Kalmar union or "Kalmar Unionen" in Swedish, was mostly Denmark just with control over Sweden and Norway, but when the Swedes fought back and got independent in 1520 (in 1523 the new king Gustav Vasa was crowned on the 6th of June thereby the Swedish national day) the union broke and Denmark took Norway leading too "Denmark-Norway kingdom" or smth like that. :D
