In my personal opinion y'all should do the same exact test with 4 brand new engines to eliminate the engine assembly discrepancy factor. There could be engine assembly discrepancies as a factor, because some engines are put together better than others even though it's the same engine, different torque specs etc during the assembly process. But if the next test comes back as the same results, then you know without a doubt that it's the oil additives that contributed to the extended performance.

Next, to what extent does Prolube or any additive for that matter change the chemical composition, that is changing let's say the levels of zddp , calcium, detergent etc. ? See, this is where people are DUMB AF. "Don't run an engine without oil." Well no Sh^t, Dumb F*ck. Let's say, your oil pump siezes going down the road, or simply functions sub par. Or let's say, you devolop a horrible gasket leak at 100k (happened to me a few weeks ago) and don't know it. Additives MIGHT just buy you some time until you figure that out and save your A$# from a new engine. OR, by the time you realize you have no oil for some time, you're boned any way. Now, those that say," run all long term, do a tear down and show wear, "sure. That would be 100% ideal. But videos like this DO prove something that can and does happen (to the unlucky ones) from time to time likely stand to gain from certain additives in said case. They also lead us to conclude (educated of course) that certain additives MAY offer some benefit indeed. Now, to be 100% fair, we would need to do a LONG term with oil control as well with additves, a complete tear down, bearing wear AND sludge and valve guide clog test without draining lubricant to be sure. However we CAN and if you're not thinking based with emotion, HAVE learned something here that very well could be of potential benefit to all of us.

This is an advertisement on how not to use oil additives. They're not formulated to be used with new engines. They're formulated to be used with older engines, usually with 75,000+ miles. The length of time each engine gave up at. That's luck of the draw on the engine itself. The additives have almost no bearing on this, as lubricity and viscosity are not part of the additive package. That's base oil only. If you want to learn more about this kind of thing. I suggest going over to the Motor Oil Geek's youtube channel.

The test conditions here are pretty lame. It would have been better to run the engines for a day then check compression and cylinder heads/valves of each one. Then run each one of the oil additive mixtures to see if they do what they say. Most of them claim to clean and increase compression. Keep in mind modern oils already have detergents and depending on which ones you get are long life high temp. BMW and other german cars recommend only long life "EURO CAR" blends because they have higher specifications. Whenever possible use a "EURO car" formula in your 4 strokes as they are much better oils with better high temp wear. They are designed for twin turbo engines.
