According to Elon Musk", Since I’ve been asked a lot: I will always advise, we buy stock in several companies that make products & services that you believe in. Only sell if you think their products & services are trending worse. Don’t panic when the market does. This will serve you well in the long-term.

The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading

If I'm looking to buy spy or splg, it is for long term retirement. So I'm not looking to do any trading with that stock. I can't afford 100 shares of spy to start doing covered calls, so that isn't an option to consider. So the only difference is 1/3rd the expense ratio with splg? If I am only dca'ing why would I not do it at a cheap price and lower expense? SPLG seems to be the winner, no? Is it advantageous to also hold other SPDR ETFs such as XLR and XLE?

The way you are comparing the options does not seem very fair or accurate. Current price 419, strike price 450 -> that's a 7.4% increase Current price 49.23, strike price 57 -> that's a 15.8% increase Plus you are also not considering the size of the premium in proportion to the price of the etf Current price 419, premium of 1 -> that's 0.24% return For that same return, the premium for the Current Price 49.23 would be 0.12 Love your videos but there was clearly an over simplification here :D

Obviously great advice and not arguing with ur general premise here. But, if you are increasing the savings from $3,000 by 5% every year then by year 65 this will mean that u aren’t just putting away $3,000 into savings for your kid but $71,519 per year. That’s a lot of money. Am I missing something here?

It's a valid point, but if you look at the table again it assumes he stops contributing at the age of 65. The last year's contributions was $56k, which is high, but not unreasonable depending on your career path. It's probably best to assume a lower growth rate in case the son doesn't go into a high paying field. Honestly 0.5% probably makes more sense because he's starting so young.

When you look at the returns over the past 100 years and say "no reason why this will change" I immediately remember Ray Dalio's Big Cycle and his last book and think "100 years is not so long term in the big cycle and there are many reasons to suspect that 9.9% will change". That's why I diversify my ETF strategy and distribute across various major economies - not just the US - based on macro assessments (Dalio's model and numbers).

Mutual funds come with a lot of fees that eat into your profits over the years. ETF's aren't actively managed by an advisor. So the fees are much cheaper but just as stable as a mutual fund! Over the years you'll pay a lot of money in fees that aren't required in an ETF.

Now you are telling me there is a value in buying SPLG at a cheaper price per share then SPY? Seems like you guys are contradicting each other. Obviously there is a pretty basic reason why a lower share price can help. If you don’t have fractional shares or want to participate in options without an amount that is more then average investor has or wants to allocate….again another example of the tesla bias on this channel….let’s always be negative with tesla…

The comparison he makes for options prices is idiotic. Of course SPY gives you more premiums, the stock is several times more expensive. In order to get that 70 cent premium, you need to own 41,900 worth of stock. To get that 1 cent premium, you only need to own 4,923 worth of stock. Also, he picks a strike price for SPY that is about 8% higher than the current price, but he picks a strike price for SPLG that is over 15% higher than the current share price. Of course the option that is more out of the money is going to give you lower premium. When you account for share price and strike price, both options will pay roughly the same amount of premium. Otherwise there is an arbitrage opportunity. I'm not a day trader so I don't listen to Mo, but if this is the type of guidance he's giving, I would hesitate to trust anything he says.

Thanks for sharing! VOO has the same goals, has a slightly better return over 10 years, and expense ratio is 3 bps vs 9 bps for SPY. Might not seem like a lot, but it equates into thousands of $$$ over 30 years.

I like Vanguard Total Stock Market VTI for covering the entire domestic stocks. Not just the 500 stocks. VTI for more diversification.

With VTI you add in all the crap stocks, IPOs and Spacs that don't make any profits. At least with VOO or SPY you are filtering out a lot of that crap and getting the 500 best companies.

@@kevinlue4756 with VTI you will own large/Small/ Mid stocks. Not all 500 stocks are the best. The first 10 largest companies are controlling the S&P 500. So you will own crap companies in the S&P too.

Swppx from Schwab you can set it up on auto investing with a fixed amount since it’s a mutual fund. And it’s still low cost.

No you wrong you are confusing splg with spyg ,so splg is a normal sp 500 like spy just cheaper ,spyg is the growth version that you can compare it to other growth funds like schg rpg vug
