I'll have to try the second matching technique you explained. I don't have a stable full of flutes, and don't have flutes that are an octave apart in the same key, so I'll try your second technique using mode 4, and hope for the best! Thanks as always Clint.

If you find a pair that match in the "Mode 4" setup, I think you will have two flutes that work *very* well together!

This could be a great exercise to demonstrate and develop ear training in a flute circle! A fun exercise.

That's **exactly** how we use it at workshops ... players go around "hunting" for another flute that matches the pitch they are looking for ...

Wouldn't it be better if you did not use vibrato to start the first tone?

Yes, well ... it's a habit. Same with ornaments. I have to *really* try to play a tone straight without ornaments or vibrato ...
