Which Fujifilm Camera Is Right For You in 2025?

After a year or so and an X-E4, X-M1 and X-S20 I've settled on the X30 as it appears to combine all that I saw in the others bar the smaller sensor which I'll live with as I like black and white grainy images. The X-E4 is sold, the X-S20 I've still got and the X-M1 is on the shelf as an old favourite. :) I mainly shoot street and life documentary as a hobby.

I own the XT1, XT3, XE2, and XT20, and I would say the XT3 is my favorite.

I switched from the S-X20 to the X-T50 and am so glad I did. I mainly do amateur photography and wanted a bit more crop out of my photos. I loved the S-X20, but am in love with the X-T50. It is light and fun.

Apart from my XT20 I also have an XE2 bought used for about £350 which coupled with the pancake 27mm gives me my ‘X100’ at a fraction of the price. Great little carry around combination and still looks cool. 16 megapixels are perfectly adequate.

I think X-H2S and X-H2 are "pro" just because they have the best specs, larger/brighter EVFs, fastest storage and best ergonomics - especially for larger/longer lenses, battery grips etc. I use the X-H2 and X-H2s to shoot wildlife with the 150-600 and soon the 500mm f5.6. Everything else can be used in "pro" scenarios but you quickly realise you're missing some stuff because they lack some of those features I mentioned earlier.

It's simple. X-H1 (with additional battery of course :) only one love for me. It's robust, versatile, and the cheapest camera on the market.

I just upgraded from X-T3 to X-T4. For 3 main reasons, battery life, ibis and the ability to save whte balance shifts. The X-T4 also has a few other settings to dial in film recipes like color chrome fx blue and clarity which is absent on the X-T3. I also like the fact that the settings for movie and image are seperate. The flip screen can be daunting for some but imo, it's not that bad. I actually prefer it to the tilt screen now that I've used it. Overall, super happy with the upgrade. Glad I managed to track one down in mint condition for around USD 1100 with a 18-55mm lens. Looking to get the 27mm pancake now but the prices seem absurd. Is the gen 1 27mm without WR worth picking up?

Hi, the lens is 23mm, but it's a 35mm full frame equivalent field of view due to crop sensor.

X-T10 - Excellent first camera, to learn exposure, and has auto settings to fall back on and same to say about later revisions of the X-TXX line (and the X-E line, but I prefer the XTXX) the X-T50 can work as a backup body to an X-T5 or X-H2 X-T3 - Great Professional Photography camera, and video if you have a gimbal or shooting from tri-pod - I still use 2 of these for video work X-T4 - Is an X-T3 with IBIS and flip out screen X-T5 - Perfect stills camera, good for video, but better options if video is primary focus X-Pro 1/2/3 It is all about the experience for professional work there are better options now, but can 100% do a job for photography X-H2s Fuji flagship sports and video camera If resolution is more important the XH-2 and X-T5 The X100 VI (I never owned anything prior to the VI) Yes 100% can use it for pro work, Leaf shutter makes High speed flash a joy. Limitations you can only do work that is possible with a 23mm lens (or with the adapters) X-S10/20, I’ve never used but simply they are the more video focused hybrid setups or a second camera to an X-H2s. Now to the Newest camera, the X-M5 this camera to me is underrated as a content creator camera especially if you are doing talking head videos ibis not a big loss. However I think it is also an ideal gimbal camera for student videos, it is cheap (relatively) a gimbal is better than IBIS and has the new processor so benefits from the new autofocus. in all honesty if I didn’t already have 2, X-T3s for video work, I’d get 2 X-M5s as I think they are great to teach video on , once on a tripod, or gimbal the viewfinder is not needed, and neither is IBIS and to the generation that is used to using a mobile phone it is probably no big deal. If they need to do film stills the X-Trans 4 sensor still produces amazing photos. If the budget was bigger of course the X-S20 is the next stepping stone (Same processor/sensor but gain ibis and a viewfinder) I’ve never owned a GFX (but have used), but the image quality is amazing… not sure it will be ever worth the premium and once printed to 20” x 16” can you tell which sensor was used… since the bigger the print the further the viewing distance. Outside of zooming on a computer it is hard to tell. The big thing I took from the GFX was the weight, if you’re used to an X-T series camera, the weight difference is substantial, granted the newer GFX100S does reduce this weight but is still substantially more weight in the body and lenses (unless you are normally walking around with the XF50 F/1)
