Maybe because of the rocky launch state, worse story than city (not bad but didn't maintain the extremely high quality I'd say), and people's concerns over the batmobile. @@NikTek Wtf are you writing. AK is a single player and does not need to run on servers or on a netcode with different hardware, SS does need to do all of it. Multiplayer games have to have less cpu overload then sp games, meaning less destruction, less physics etc by the number of npc's alone in the game the cpu side of things is already doing a lot putting in more could be a problem. I mean, you don't need any effort to make Suicide Squad look worse than Arkham Knight, but I do find it weird how the last example is a barren and uninteresting road in SS and the single most destroyed and detailed road in AK. Likewise, AK suffers from occasional pop-in and stuttering, and I can't tell if SS does so too, because noone ever compares these aspects. I'm not saying that SS is better than AK, I'm not blind and stupid. But I can't shave off the feeling that some of these comparisons are kinfd of rigged in AK's favor

Batman AM was ahead of its time. As time progressed, game graphics got better, but years later in 2019 and 2020 games started looking hyper realistic. I think some people are confusing graphics with game design/stylization. Arkham Knight clearly had more direction and development in those areas, and actually aimed at realistic graphics. But looking at the graphics engine itself, Suicide Squad does have better graphics. It's just difficult to tell because this game is all over the place. Vegetation, texture quality, anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering is where you're gonna notice the improvements. It all comes down to the art direction though, SS went for a much more 'arcade' look, while Arkham created a dark and realistic setting. That's why it looks better.

You’re exactly right. Arkham knight also had baked lighting aswell as only taking place at night. When the game showed daytime with Gordon it looked horrible because the poor texture work and saturation was highlighted. Fog,filters, road textures etc. ss also has day night cycle.

Arkham Knight had an unmatched feeling of recent occupation by regular people. I think it was roughly 12 hours before the start of the game the entire city was evacuated and then quarantined so the only people actually running around were thugs but it made it seem so alive because just a day earlier, people were shopping, walking the streets, hailing cabs, driving around. Trash and detritus litter the streets because everyone had to quite literally drop what they were doing and leave 5 minutes ago.

It's fascinating that Arkham Knight was made using Unreal Engine 3 and SSKTJL is a Unreal Engine 4 game, it clearly shows that technology is not the bottleneck here, if you have talented artists and devs then you can make a 9 year old game look like next gen.

rocksteady's developers, the original ones, all left when Arkham knight came out and was replaced with a more "woke" developer team as the internet likes to call it but I don't care what they call it what's more prevalent is that the newer team is more out of touch with the Arkham games.

This pretty much sums up everything that's wrong with GaaS. In the crunch to pump out more content, devs brush over the little things that enhance immersion, instead opting for generic placeholders to do the job. Sad to see what Rocksteady have become. The arkham trilogy was something else

Somewhere between Knight and Squad, the new kids at Rocksteady lost the knowledge of how to make a sleek user interface. Look at Knight, THREE things in the corners of the screen, and look at that mess of the Squad shooting in the hover car. It's like I should be waiting for a casino slot machine to say JACKPOT in a few seconds.
