Is Silicone better for the environment than plastic?
If silicone is disposed properly at a landfill for incineration, the silicone (unlike plastic) is converted back into inorganic, harmless ingredients like amorphous silica, carbon dioxide, and water vapour.
When plastic, an organic material made from petroleum, is lost in the environment, it breaks down into micro-fragments which contaminate our lands, oceans and the animals.
Silicone is more durable than plastic which means it can be re-used for longer compared to plastic.
Silicone may not be a 100% perfect zero waste solution, but it’s a step in the right direction.

The energy of this video was so immensely positive! I have been using stainless steel for a long time and I noticed that it always holds onto the taste of my dish soap! I will definitely be buying a glass water bottle soon. Thanks for the info!

That's one of the reasons why I prefer to drink out of glass. But as a tip, you can use other things than soap to clean bottles. Personally I like to use salt and white vinegar. Works great, and it rinses out much better.

This video is so so good ~~ I didnt know there were glass bottles in the market that they sell like those! At the moment I just use Voss’s bottle which can carry close to a liter of water. It’s pretty good it’s toppled over a few times but no damage. It is quite sensitive to temperatures though and I’ve had two break on me before because I forgot quick changes in temperature break glass. Lasts a long time I suppose of course given good care, it isn’t plastic free though as the cap’s completely plastic ~

I love your video and the music. What is the name of the band/music in your video? I have had my Life Factory water bottle for at least 10 years with the same cap as yours and after all these years it has done the same thing as what you showed in your video. I like how you showed that it most likely could have been prevented if we pulled on the back of the lid like you did. Now I have to order a new lid.

I've spent whole 3 days on the nets trying to find the best glass water, and after checking around 30 of them I would have to agree that nr 3 is Life Factory, nr 2 Contigo and nr 1 Fcsdetail (which I guess is an european version of Origin). I have found also GoGlass Terra borosilicate glass water, which is plastic free like Contigo, but I couldn't buy it in Europe. I know that plastic free is better, but I would need to get used to the metal on glass sound, and start to have a positive experience with it ('till now the metal on glass sound was for me always connected with a taste of a bad metal afterwards, drinking from non reusable glass bottles with a not stainless steel top bought in supermarkets) I don't know if you know what I mean. Anyway, thank you!

Hey I'm glad you were able to get some information and it's cool to see that Fcsdetail looks so similar to origin..maybe it's the same brand. For me the metal taste that comes from stainless steel water bottles I definitely don't like but when hiking and traveling I use a Hydroflask. It still gives that metal taste but way less than cheap brands.

no not really. You would have to get a stainless steel bottle like a HydroFlask :)

I am using BKR water bottle. I like it i got the 500 ml size and now i want the 1 litre. The problem is it’s way too expensive and im having second thoughts now

That was my same thought! I really thought it looked good but I didn't want to spend the money. I do like the origin water bottle the best like i said in my video but sometimes it is a little big for me so I have been using the Contigo when I want something lighter.

Interesting....doesnt seem like to much has changed since I was in school, but I have to say that Hydro Flask water bottles are actually really good for when your on the go and traveling compared to glass water bottles. So I can see why lots of people have them :)
