Thank you for teaching and not just showing us all the combos. Love to learn the chemistry behind all the glazes.

Thank you so much for this info. My class did not allow for info on glazes just applying them. This is great.

Could you talk/make a video about the process of how you come up with and create recipes for your own glazes? I love watching your videos, they are really informative and you're just a wonderful person.

Hi Jessica. The clear glaze you use….2167…is that the only clear you use in your studio that seems to work with everything, or do you have a handful of clear glazes? Mostly wondering if it works on all the different brands of underglazes that you use, and on any applicable commercial glazes you buy that may need clear on top.

So happy to watch this. Please do think about us poor hobby potters with kilns that only go to cone 04!

Great informative videos, thank you. Question: Is there a way to prevent the mold or discoloration on the bottom of my mugs and bowls? No one ever mentions the condition of their pottery after a number of uses.. Mine gets so dirty or moldy I need to sand it off with my diamond sanding sponges every so often. Thanks

If the clay is molding or discoloring it means that your pottery is not vitrified and this happens a lot. You can try firing hotter so the clay vitrifies or switch to another clay that will work better for you. I fire to cone 5 with Laguna Bmix 5 clay and never have any issues with mold. If you are using low fire clay then it will not vitrify but you can try glazing the bottoms and firing the pieces on stilts. I hope this helps.☺️

@@JessicaPutnamPhillips Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I fire at cone 6 and use Amaco 38 white clay which has no grog and is a cone 6 clay. I will try a different clay. Good ideas. Thanks again. Have a blessed day.

Hi, I have been using black underglaze with clear over it. I have a big problem with it coming out very cloudy. What causes that and how can I remedy it.

I am in a community ceramics class where we can only fire up to Cone 06. Do you have any videos on what kind of glaze effects we can get with that situation?

I have moved from earthenware to stoneware... can I use my earthenware glazes on the stoneware and at which cone...5?. I'm just a home potter.

You can, but they may change color. Check your supplier - many have samples of cone 6 firings.

I do a local pottery class and all my pieces have small cracks all over the clear glaze, what causes this or is it normal?

That is crazing. Your glaze is not adhering properly to the clay body. Might be unloading when too hot, or might be a chemistry issue. You can refire to try to remedy.
