📢 If you’re in the market for a new, furry addition to the family, odds are the Goldendoodle has crossed your mind. The poodle-golden retriever hybrid is known for its loyalty, intelligence, and its non-shedding hypo-allergenic nature, making it a favorite for many. The breed has become tremendously popular in the last few years and comes in a variety of sizes, but that also brings up an important question for dog owners; what is the ideal sized golden doodle for me?

🐶 Mini
Starting off we have the mini Goldendoodle size, which is any doodle under 30 pounds. Most commonly, though the mini is around 25 pounds and has a height of 16 inches when it's done growing.
🐶 Teacup
It’s hard to believe, but the Mini Goldendoodle can actually get even smaller! Within the mini category are two unofficial sub-categories; the smallest is called the “Teacup Goldendoodle”. So how small is it? Try 11 inches tall and less than 13 pounds!
🐶 Toy
Slightly larger than the Teacup doodle is the Toy Goldendoodle, which weighs about 20 pounds and stands at a height of about 14 inches.
🐶 Medium
As the name implies, the medium Goldendoodles are the sweet spot in terms of size, and as a result, are the most common version of the ultra-popular pet. This type stands at around 16 to 20 inches in height, and about 30 to 40 pounds.
🐶 Standard
The standard Goldendoodle is the biggest version of the dog, but for some, that just means there is more to love! While by definition a standard doodle is anything over 40 pounds, you’re most likely looking at a dog that is going to be anywhere from 50 to 60 pounds and 22 inches tall.

We rescued what was what we were advised would be a mini as the mother was 20# and father was 18# Golden Doodles. Well now that Bentley is seven months old he has become a standard. Wow. Our first golden doodle was diffidently a large standard but passed after a stroke at the age of 13 almost two yrs. ago.

I've noticed that size is hard to predict when it's the first generation of a Golden Retriever and poodle mix. When breeders mix two goldendoodles together the size is much more predictable. My dog was two mini goldendoodles bred together and he was the exact same size as his 20 pound parents

Mine is also F1. They told me to expect 30, but he could get to 40 because he is a first generation. At 7 months, he's just under 20 and my vet says he's very healthy. I'm so thankful he's in my life. He's got the natural good traits of both breeds to build on.

Go for it! My Goldendoodle's best friend is an Aussiedoodle. You can't really go wrong with either. I would just suggest that you try to match them in size. One dog that is bigger can play rougher with a smaller dog.

This video should also state that doodles require regular (monthly) grooming and for people to check grooming prices to make sure they consider that expense when choosing what size doodle is best for them. The bigger the dog the more a groomer charges.

F1B is a generation of Goldendoodle. Typically, an F1 Goldendoodle backcrossed to a Poodle is an F1B. The size of a Goldendoodle (i.e. Medium) has nothing to do with the generation! I hope that helped!

Some breeders will call a toy Goldendoodle if it’s bred with a toy Poodle and a very small Golden Retriever. I would be hesitant if they were an F1 since it will be larger than you expect.

I have one of my stud dogs puppies that is 5 months old and 40 pounds already. His dad which I own is 24 inches tall and 50 pounds. The mom is 45 pounds. I don’t know how he can get soo much bigger than either parent but it looks like he will be around 65-70 pounds full grown.

I also have a mini labradoodle that the breeder said would be 30 pounds. The mom is 38 and the dad is 22 pounds. She is 1 year old and 22 pounds 17.5 inches tall. It’s weird because some other doodles her height are 30-35 pounds. I guess it depends on the muscle mass and bone density that adds the extra weight.

Yes, but I think it highly depends on the lineage and how well you are able to train them. Poodles are one of the smartest dog breeds. Retrievers have one of the best temperaments. Combined, they make for a good trained service dog, but it's alot of arduous training.

We generally suggest you exercise a medium to standard size at least 1 hour per day. A miniature could do 45 minutes. Goldendoodles have a ton of energy so exercise is very important!

@@terrybrewer3162 yup just a 20lb beautiful, happy go lucky, barkymcbarkface, bestest boy of a mutt! No shedding and no allergies or asthma for me! pure breds are just not worth the cost IMHO
