I loved the way each area of Arkham Knight's Gotham was different, made it much easier to travel as the roads and building all felt unique

That's a poorly bad excuse. They could have taken as inspiration this design and still create uniqueness within each territory. I wish the map would have been based on the official map of Gotham. Not these "Miagani" names bullshit.

Gotham in Arkham Knight is so well designed, moving around while gliding with Batman and with the Batmobile is so satisfying. Some games forget that even if they have great movement, if you don't have the map then it's useless. Gotham succeeded with 2 very different means of transportation.

I think Miagani Island was kind of the closest thing we got to the City skyline, regardless what people forget is that AK had an improved grapnel boost so odds are the traversal would have been kinda potentially underwhelming regardless since we were expecting a crazy tall city from City.

All of the buildings in Arkham city look pretty much the same because they are designed to be just background elements. Taking that design philosophy and trying to make it an open world environment wouldn’t have worked out so it’s for the best that they reimagined Gotham in Arkham knight. (and this isn’t an inconsistency since that’s more of an artistic liberty that they took.)

Rocksteady planned on making Gotham much bigger but consoles couldn’t handle it. Man I kinda wish that Arkham knight was a pc exclusive we could had gotten a much bigger better experience

I love the AC ones because it’s gothic and dark deco too like yeh animated series I heard they tried implement it in the game but couldn’t due to technology at the time but what I think would’ve been great is mix the neon colors with Gotham in this game :D

I just figured that City was the mainland part of Gotham, Knight takes place on separate islands, hence making them both cannon/not a redesign

Design of Gothom in AC is more classic and gothic... In AK it's more modern and technological... As a game player, i prefer the AK's one to free roam and discovering amazing details... But as a batman comic fan, i see more the classic cold and dark Gotham in AC's one

Yeah I imagine adding some detail referencing stuff from the Batman lore might stick out like a sore thumb too much around samey structures. Also, I don't think it would be as enjoyable to traverse in the air

Idk why but the Gotham in Knight always felt too empty to me, architecture wise anyways The towers in City are massive and make you feel tiny in comparison Now imagine scaling and gliding between those buildings in knights beautiful engine That would have HIT as a child

Yeah i prefer what they ended up doing with gotham city, you can tell with how it was designed in asylum they were trying to do something more vibrant and as u said more gothic with city. Knight is a sort of mix between the two

@@daph0307 Batman feels too op in the game. If he was more limited like in the others, I'd have enjoyed it more. The hard mode of Arkham Knight is easier than Asylums easy mode.
