Which Half-Life SMG is better

My guess is that Valve considers the MP7's second barrel as a grenade launcher, just like the shotgun firing from 2 "barrels" in both games

I much prefer the sound, visual design, and feel of the HL1 SMG. And it has an actual grenade tube. Superior to HL2's in every way.

I honestly wish they would have used an MP5 instead of an MP7 when it came to Half Life 2. If I remember correctly, I’m pretty sure an MP5K was planned for the beta but ended up not being used.

I mostly used the HL1 smg for the grenade launcher, and the actual gun for finishing off enemies that didnt die to a double shotgun blast. The HL2 smg always felt like a side-arm, something you wouldn't even think about using until you ran out of pulse rifle and shotgun ammo. But again, the grenade launcher really came in clutch when you had a combine stack coming right for you.

The MP5 felt pretty weak in Half-Life. It was like you were feeding the enemies vitamins instead of shooting them. Interestingly, the M4 in Blue Shift feels stronger and more accurate. The MP7 was a Metrocop slayer, and the grenades were helpful but you only got 3 at a time. In terms of form, the MP5 looks way better. The MP7 doesn't even look like the real thing. But the MP7 is definitely more effective.

the beta smg actually looked closer to what hl2s smg is based off of so now its mostly a fictional gun from what i can tell

Hl2 smg is a real prototype of mp7 if I recall correctly

I like your video, In my opinion the MP5 will be superior until Valve adds a granade launcher to the MP7, so for ever

Both suck hard, but hl1 smg is carried by high movement speed. - At least fun during run&gun. But its accuracy is pure ass randomness.
