Perhaps wait till DXO updates their software in a few weeks!

@@takebetterphotos8132 I can do that. When is the Release Date; and what are the improvements?
@ianbrowne9304 Жыл бұрын
It always seems like that so I stick with old Lr5

Usually mid October. They don't usually give an early preview unlike ON1 but last release was an improvement in noise (DEEPPRIME XD), ability to rate via color labels, and improvement to their clone brush🙂 Not sure it will be this year.

@@takebetterphotos8132 I checked their website -- there was NO mention of anything forthcoming -- they are selling what they have _NOW_ ! What features are you looking for / hoping for in the 'upcoming' release?

Smart albums and being able to control which folders are managed put ON1 way ahead of DXO. Neither match Lightroom.

ON1 has certainly the more feature filled photo manager. Manages more file types as well.

IMO LR5 is still king , but I have been using lr since Vs 2 so it's very hard to move to another . But Lr can be/IS a mind field :( I did use On1 back in 2017-18 but there were too many little dramas not being addressed ---- they seemed too busy making new bells and whistles before fixing what they had One thing I love about Lr is being able to hit "D" and edit the file . It's just so fast to do first edits Would be great to see similar video for library > edit >library . BTW I use Affinity Photo 2 for advanced editing There gets a time when learning a program is in the "cannot be bothered" box . I have one or two of those boxes

Wow LR5. I actually had to look that up! That was the last one that didn't require a subscription? Did you ever compare LR5 tone adjustments to today's LR. Did it ever change!? The statement "seemed too busy making new bells and whistles before fixing what they had" is exactly true till 2023 but I understand their finally fixing the performance/UI for 2024. We will soon see!

@@takebetterphotos8132 LR 6 was the last before subscription and I'm so glad I don't go down that path . Lr5 does what I need after 50 ++ years of holding a camera . The library section doesn't seem to have been improved/changed a great in recent upgrades . BTW "Better Photos" was my business name years ago
@takebetterphotos8132 Жыл бұрын
Better Photos? Sounds familiar🙂 I supposed you paid $150 for Lightroom? How much they charged now for LR sounds like robbery!🙂 Do you still use it for editing?

@@takebetterphotos8132 Most days yes. Only for personal happy snaps these days . It was considered very good when new . Just because there are more "modern updates" available doesn't make it any less of the good program it was . I would hate lost it and would hate to learn another program . A great deal of my editing is still the old fashion Dodge and Burn I used in the darkroom . Worked back then and still works the same now . Personal ; I think photography has become too reliant on wonderland bell and whistles . When we stop to consider, photography as photography has not really changed . All that has changed are the photography tools . Photography is still about the light , the quality of the light and shadows from the light. Sorry ; getting a bit off topic However , AI totally terrifies me

Other people have told me the same thing, they'd rather not have the AI! 🙂 Guess you are not alone. Personally I just want it for the sharpening and denoise as I have a ton of badly taken/blurred/noisy photos back from my Nikon D70 which I'm glad I didn't delete because AI can now save them. But I get your point. The good photogrpher doesn''t need much editing. Exposure is right when the shot is taken.
