Which heroes to focus on? My 4 recommendations for Puzzles and Survival

With so many heroes to choose from and so many things to worry about levelling up how do you as a player decide what to focus on? This video covers the 4 main heroes that you should choose from to build your troop specialization and main hero lineup around. Of course there are many options and a variety of ways to approach this topic. However, if you are unsure try to pick one of these heroes and see how it works for you. Great video, as per usual. I have been spreading up hero upgrades out everywhere until like month ago, when I realized it simply isn't feasible to go strong on every ground (unless you have a really really deep pocket, which I do not). I decided to go shooter-focused with rider as my secondary. I chose shooter-focused, as it was least common in my alliance (although going rider strong is easiest imo).

I think it can be easier to be rider focused based on heroes for sure. I think its cool you chose to diversify your alliance strengths by going shooter main. Absolutely! I have an ongoing list for things I want to cover. I always go back to that list when there isnt a more urgent suggestion or something I can throw together quickly. I also try to balance the list between newer players and tips and tricks for the more seasoned players. I'm trying to work my way up to a video every day or two. Sometimes time is not on my side lol. But please any suggestions are welcome! The more I hear a specific suggestion the more likely it jumps to the top of the list.

Early on focus on heroes that will help you in Arena and campaign, if you are in a good Alliance you won't be running Lairs, you can just join stronger Alliance members lair runs and do pretty well from that. Once you are doing well in campaign then you can start focusing on Troop specific heroes based on what you like to run with, and the 4 mentioned in this video would be great ones to focus on. I personally didn't know my direction until I was around HQ15, but had built up a pretty solid team that was getting me through Campaign and doing well in Arena and Challenge which nets you a lot of resources. My only addition to the 4 mentioned, which admittedly are more mid game heroes due to the work needed to get them, would be Agent X. Her Toxin Bomb removes 99% HP from 1 opponent, and she does this from the beginning. If you get lucky in the Joy 3 game you can have her early on and she will win you a lot of Match 3 games. As great as Mantis is late game, their skill early on they don't really help you like Agent X does. (There is debate to whether they are male or female!) Great points! And agent x is a great hero to have. Her skill isnt so much level dependent so not as critical to really level her up and she doesnt provide too many troop benefits.i really wanted to focus on heroes that were somewhat easy to obtain and had benefits for match 3 gameplay as well as military. And then use those heroes as a guide for how to develop your troops around them. Thanx as always for your great feedback!

So here's how I break it down for my alliance. Tutorial beginning upto HQ 15, early game play HQ 16-25, middle game play begins with 1st wasteland; and late game is once Sanctuary build is complete, currently HQ infrastructure is level 35. So during the Tutorial phase, focus is building your 4☆ and below Heroes. Especially the economy type Heroes as you're unable to participate in Alliance events Reservoir Wars, and Nukaland. Focus here should be Kento, Xavis, Anahita, Chester, Flint, Dr. J, Marshall, Otto, and Varvana. This will provide boost to Sanctuary development, Cmdr EXP, and allow you to focus on Military Heroes in the next phase. During early game play, your strongest combat heroes will be 4 ☆ heroes that are enhanced. This is where you want to promote your troops to the highest tier available and begin your troop specializing, which will be dependent on the heroes acquired and their enhancement level. Here I recommend the focus be on the troop heroes ( Devana, Marlowe, Mars, Meyers, and Requiem) as most will still be focus on Sanctuary development and not been able to train multiple full marches of any troop type, and will serve as Wall Defense heroes in the later phases. Middle game is where you should really begin be selective on where you focus on acquiring your combat heroes and doing training runs of your troop specialty. This is where your game budget, strategy, and game time will really determine which heroes you will be able to aquire and continue enhancing.

I dont see any major issues with it although I dont necessarily agree with all of it, but I think it's just a different perspective, not wrong. I really appreciate you sharing it. I sold all my non 4* frags so I could buy Fox frags .. no ragrats because I ended up with 5 and then there was an event that gave me five 5* frags so now I have Fox. I also hit the 30-frag first try on the Joy Coin wheel and did Agent X (because she's the best? ) and the rest I put on Mantis (+1). So because I got a bit lucky I focused on my 5* heroes exclusively not understanding the diversity of skills id get leveling up the rest to at least 31 and enhancing them. I've only been playing for about a week though

thanks, I am newish and i find this very confusing. I have managed to get Fox, Meyers, Ulrik and Eve (via Ruins) and of course Requim. These are all between lvl 211 and 280 and i have not managed to evolve them past 1 or 2 yet. as a non spender this seems to always be an issue. i am really struggling in arena though, and it is driving me nuts. I even lose to lower level players, especially if they have heroes like zephyr, scarlett and those guys. after this global commander i will have obsidian, which i am looking forward to. bt again, he will not be enhanced for a very long time. I would love to do better in arena, so will re-watch the arena vid, see what it is i am missing. my alliance is super helpful, but i do get conflicting advice sometimes, so these vids will definitely help.

I plan on doing another video on arena so maybe that will help when it comes out. But for now just focus on 5 heroes that are a good lineup for you and try to work exclusively on one at a time to get them to +5. Arena is a "global" event. If you have moved states at all or are completely f2p then arena will be tough until you have a strong lineup and hopefully a few alternates. Good luck In the meantime

I got apex McCarty gun, and the bonuses are so good that i want to make him +4 above all else at this point... And he is currently my substitute for Phoenix, the skill is similar with burn effect

Absolutely! So you bring up a good point I didnt clarify in the video. I always make a plan on what I'm doing based on what I'm trying to accomplish but when things change in game for me I adjust my tactics and decisions for each situation. If I got an exclusive nanoweapon for a hero (Apex specifically) then I would pour everything I had to get the hero where they needed to be to reap the benefits of that weapon because the boosts are so worth it. It might not be part of my original plan but would be more beneficial than my original plan. Therefore it is smart to focus on that hero. So yes. Get McCarty at least to +4. I'd almost focus on him to +6 because apex is the only weapon with a bonus at +6. And like you said. McCarty is a good sub for Phoenix especially after he gets red star. His jump from +4 to red star is huge.

I'm a few weeks in and almost at HQ15, I have Requiem and Ephraim that I obtained via challenges and chests, and so I've naturally gravitated toward Shooter-focused. I should also say that I'm attempting to play free, however I'm not opposed to putting money into the game. I have 20 5* frag choice chests and wanted your thoughts on who I should pick. Ulrik, Fox, Marlowe, Meyers, Mars, and McCarty are available, and based on this video, shall I select Ulrik and Fox? Or shall I save them for when other heroes are available? Thanks in advance!

I would grab meyers and fox. Meyers and fox as a team are very formidable and will play well with requiem and ephraim. Ulrik is another good option but I like meyers and fox together better. Especially early on. Ulrik is great later in game but I find his skill can be harmful in the early stages.

Just 2 quick follow up questions, and please let me know if you have videos addressing them, but 1) Your suggestions bring up a question I had with myself, is it bad having heroes of the same color in your group? (Or is that only an issue in arena and campaign) and 2) with a lineup of Meyers, Fox, Requiem, and Ephraim, who would be a good 4* to round out the squad? I currently have Sanguine, Griffin, Devana, and Hartwell at 130 to swap in. Or is there another I should grab with my choice chests? Thanks again for the awesome content?

Assuming you don't have eve yet (should could be helpful there) I'd recommend hartwell. Of course if you get ulrik that would potentially be better. You may have to try a couple lineups and see how they play and which works best for you. Same colors arent necessarily a bad thing. It boosts the damage of those color tiles but also means there are tiles on the board that will only do 1 damage.

Absolutely! Meyers and ulrik are more support heroes than anything, but I have to say Meyers is probably my favorite hero overall. I have used him constantly since the beginning. And eventually you are going to want and need all the heroes unlocked and at high levels. Meyers and ulrik with fox and a strong red hero can do wonders in many events and hero dual survival.

I think mantis is an important hero especially later in game. I think unlocking all the heroes is extremely important. I think some players over emphasize mantis. I dont think shes as powerful as others do but I have seen many players use her very effectively. She is crucial for some special use circumstances as well especially in ultimate challenge.

Maxed is +8! That's awesome if that is the case. Thats a lot of frags. I dont know when exactly. It is time based. So based on the age of the state. I know I had obsidian to +4 or +5 before atropos was released. So it does take quite a few GAC's before you can obtain her. I would imagine you guys are close.

Requiem is definitely a strong hero. And actually she was my favorite for a long time. She may not be overpowered but she is extremely useful and is a good hero for arena survival and glory. I definitely recommend levelling her up if possible. You want them all up eventually but as a shooter main she is a good place to start. good luck!

I've went fighter but it's definitely a struggle I'm at lvl 24 but getting the frags for heros is really hard and I got alot of Ulrick frags early, and got luckily I got zepher Red weapon any tips on heros for fighters

Focus on Zephyr as hes probably the hardest to get up for fighters. Other then that fighters are probably the hardest heroes to get all levelled up. So good luck! Its gonna take time.

Well Doc Grey is good and then just look at their troop stats. All of the 3 star heroes that boost a specific troop atk def and HP are all good (like Noct) but 2 things I'll say. Usually within the first 2-3 weeks you will start getting 4* and hopefully at least one 5* hero. All heroes can be obtained eventually for free without paying a penny except Scarlett. But it may take longer. Noah's tavern will give you some good heroes and there are other places to get 4 and 5 star heroes quickly and easily. But keep at it! If you have any questions let me know! Congrats! I would use 10 drags each and get mantis agent x and chia hao. Once unlocked you can use perfect frags to evolve so it's best to unlock all of them as soon as possible. If you already have one of them then unlock the 4th. Good luck!

Annoyingly I have an Apex weapon for Phoenix but I don't have her, and no clue how to get her either as google didn't help. So I have the gun on Ephraim for the time being, but my main focus is fighters, with shooters a close second waiting for whenever Phoenix appears in my inventory.

Phoenix is a time restricted hero meaning your state has to be established for long enough before they release her in your state. She will be a choice on the same epic hero choice card as zephyr and lady m. So the week in between Global Ace Commander has events such as hero upgrade day, new development, etc. Where you can win her. Good luck and congrats! Any apex is good. It works just like an apex radar until you get the exclusive hero so still useful. Work on levelling it up. Once you have phoenix you'll be very happy. Of course some of the boosts wont apply until she is +2, +4 and +6 respectively.

I have levelled the Incinerator somewhat as it's at +8, I started this game only a couple months ago so struggling to catch up to others in here, mine is only hq 27, would be higher but realised like you mentioned in your vids that I've made some mistakes that cost me, so fixing them takes its toll.

Yes it's easy to go the wrong direction when first starting out. The good news is all directions are good eventually lol but there are definitely ways to maximize your game play. That's what my videos are for and I hope they help!

I need phoenix so bad i stacked up 100 coins at the taravan to open for the hero event to get phoenix but daammn those weren't enough to cross me even 7th stage.....not sure how long do i need to stack coins to het her....any other trick to get her a little easily...is there any other event i can het her from

The get heroes event is probably the hardest event to win the hero frags from since most people save for it. Used to be easier a while ago. There are other event on the off GAC week that can grant her frags. If save for those. For instance promote ii choice boxes are good to save and then use for either gear, chip or module upgrade day. I’m a shooter based my hero bard is turning out to be more effective at +5 in comparison to Phoenix +3… lair 31 with bard equipped gives 50% and with Phoenix on its 44%… why is that so as per stats it’s 25% vs 48%…

I'm not sure. Sometimes the calculations dont jive. But I would definitely go with what works better.

I think it's because of the firs heroes troop skill, which is common for every hero. +5 heroes deal 500% of troop atk and +3 heroes deal 200% of troop atk.

Save everything for the non global Ace Commander weekly events. The weeks in-between global Ace Commander have events every day that are similar to GAC events that will grant epic hero choice cards. I have a playlist called "Get Week" that covers most of the events. Hope that helps!

Does order of death mean that shooters are harder to kill than riders and fighters.

Yes and no. So in theory fighters die first then shooters. But there is a certain amount of calculations done that equals troops being "killed" or wounded. So technically troops can die or be wounded or passed over completely as part of that calculation. So you wont have total fighter loss before seeing shooter loss etc. But if you have weak fighters then the shooters are gotten to more quickly if that makes sense.

So Lady M can be won from the Joy Coin event. The good news is you can save joy coins between events. Save up 50 coins and you can get the guaranteed win good luck!

Phoenix is released after a few months of a new state opening up. So if you have been playing less than 90 days she probably isn't available yet.

@@ValenceRing For nova's antivirus. It said "Hunt lvl6 zombies to active Chester" I already hunt lvl6 zombies so many time but still it's not accepted. Why is that?

Not sure some things have been added or changed since I started playing. I recommend going up a level to 7 and see if that works. If you are just trying to get Chester frags it's a random drop and not guaranteed. I do believe beating a level 6 zombie will give 1 Chester frag as a reward but you still need 9 more.
