Its great as usual. Only one comment: some speedlight hot shoe flashes can be used from ac power too, Tronix SpeedFire. (I dont use it, just good to know that this is possible) :)

I like near light, because I specialize in chiaroscuro portraits, and I like the high contrast it offers. The Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT is about $500. I hear great things about Godox, but I haven't tried them yet. If they make one compatible with Canon's radio system, I'll give them a try, when I have a flash break down. Beautiful Haylynn is adorable. Just because she was so cute when she asked, I unsubscribed and re-subscribed so she could get credit for it. I just watched your new Premium Course: Video Resolution. It was very interesting. Adding to your sentiment about 1080P and 4K, I don't see 8K as useful, other than allowing more options in post-production. Whatever happened to the fun of getting it right in camera?

Godox TT685C are $99 each and Godox XProC trigger is $69, so for the price of your 600EX II-RT you can have 4 flashes AND a trigger :)

I only have a V860II, but it's more than enough for me. The battery is enough to last a whole party firing at 1/2 or even full power. My brother has a trigger and a Godox strobe, and they both work fine. So far nothing to complain for lighting on a budget.

Using near light at full power would probably blind a model temporarily. Not a good idea.

Wrong right off the bat. Speedlights are more powerful than you say, and some have modeling lights They are sometimes powered by AA batteries. Some have much better batteries. I use mine with umbrellas, softboxes, strip boxes, and beauty dishes. I also have barndoors and grids for my speedlights. The only advantange to studio lights is power.
