I believe that the idea of older being better is a combination of nostalgia and how technology and viewpoints has changed over time. There are things that legitimately do look and feel better in the past that can’t get the same look and feel in the future. It’s a bit strange to think about.

With all this wholesomeness. Perhaps we should do an NC reaction that is more down-to-earth. Try Cool World, "featuring" its calm and collected director Ralph Bakshi. Also I recommend this because then the one after that could be the Lord of the Rings animated movie review, as that review is a direct sequel to the Cool World review.

As someone who saw 10 Commandments for the first time last week, I safety say… it a fine piece of cinema. For what’s said to be one of the biggest productions of its time, you definitely see and feel it on screen. As an avid film lover, I always admire the creativity that comes with having to make epics like these without the use of CG. The sets, the models, effects, and thousands of extras, there’s a art in having to get all this into film when today you’d just CG all that. Not saying all the effects have aged well (the scenes using 2D animation really stand out), but it always fascinates me to see all the workarounds filmmakers had to go through. One thing that Doug overlooked in the film is that in 10 Commandments and in scripture, Moses was adopted by Pharaoh’s sister, thus it makes sense why he and Ramesses didn’t share any familial bonds. At most, they were brothers by proxy as Pharaoh aided in raising him. It was Prince of Egypt that changed this to focus on that dynamic. Another thing of note is that I’m 10 Commandments is that were rivals for the throne. Ramesses of course feels he should be next in line, but Moses keeps doing many great throughout the beginning that gains favor with Pharaoh. Brokering deals with other nations, giving the Hebrew relief without compromising the workload, and having the heart of the princess. So, with the hearts and minds of the Pharaoh, the people, and the woman whom automatically set to web the future ruler on Moses’ side, is it any wonders why Ramesses hold animosity towards him. Also, not that this a knock against voice actors as it comes with their own set of challenges, but Val Kilmer is not a seasoned Voice Actor. In his whole career, he’s only done voice work for 3 films. Since the 90s, Hollywood opts to get celebrities to voice in big budgeted animated movie while seasoned voice actors are relegated to minor and/or supporting roles if they’re lucky.

The theme that usually plays throughout the video is from Prince of Egypt and the theme is called The Burning Bush. Not only is it one of the most beautiful themes I've heard but it's done by one of the greatest Hollywood composers Hans Zimmer. Who was known for doing The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Rain Man, Inception and Dune. I recommend you listen to it yourself if you haven't had the chance to listen to it.

9:53 that is a reference from the story. God told Moses the final plague will be uttered by the Pharaoh, Ramses was going to do what his father did and kill the first borns. So the last plague was the Pharaohs doing adding more grief to him

Yeah Disney didn't want to do a biblical film and that was part of the reason DreamWorks started. One of the cofounders worked at Disney and wanted to do Prince of Egypt but Disney didn't let him, so he started his own company to do it. I don't know if it was because of that reason specifically, but I did best to my memory.

20:07 - Her name is Nefertari, or Nefertiri as she is referred to in the movie. In the Movie she is also the daughter of Pharaoh Seti, and the younger sister of Ramses. And in the Ten Commandments, Ramses and Moses are Cousins not brothers. As in The Prince Of Egypt. Nefertiri was initially ment to be the wife of Moses, a d they loved each other deeply. But was forced to marry Ramses when his backstory was exposed as a Hebrew and where expelled. And his adoptive mother, the Pharaohs sister was forced into living in poverty as she had brought shame on the family by taking him in and lied. She was later seen walking in the desert alongside Moses at the end of the movie. And even Moses biological mother. The same night the old hebrew died of old age, knowingtagt her son had atleast got some mother's unconditional love. In real life Nefertari and Ramses where not siblings, and they where most certainly very much inlove. Ramses even commissioned for buildings of temple's in her honor, as his equal. Unfortunately she died right before seeing the greatest of them. Ramses where in mourning. She was just a bit over 40. Ramses where to live 42 years more without her. Soon after his second Queen wife, mother of his heir, died. His oldest daughter with Nefertari became his third Queen amd wife. The forth one was his oldest daughter with his second wife. When Ramses II died, at the age of 91 All 8 of his Quuens, 12 Crown Princes and princesses had died. His successor was named Mernephta and was son number 13, and already in his 70s.

I think the only judgment that I would disagree with is the Moses one. I agree with the Nostalgia Critic's analysis, but I think the Prince of Egypt Moses is better because of how well it matches the character of Moses in Scripture. By reputation, Moses is a superhuman, and the later books in the Bible often represent him this way. But Moses as a character was very human. He had anger issues (killing quite a number of people out of rage), was a coward (constantly tried to convince God that he isn't enough or throws himself at the feet of the people), and had a lot of flaws. A superhuman Moses just feels a little weird to me.

My dad (unfortunately RIP) loved "The Ten Commandments". I'm admittedly biased, but "The Prince of Egypt" never reallly hit me as hard as it should have. Yeah "Prince of Egypt" works and NC loves it, but in my mind the story of Moses is truly shown in "The Ten Commandments".

19:03 In the Old Testament it does just say that the Egyptian priests were able to transform their staffs into snakes. But Moses’s snake being a big boi ate them. Long story short in the actual Bible it doesn’t state if the priests’ “miracles” were real or tricks.

This is actually a thing, the Bible even notes that the Magicians were able to duplicate the first few Plagues but when it came to the Plague of Flies and Locusts they couldn’t and started to urge Pharaoh to listen to Moses as his God was more powerful than their’s clearly if Moses’ God was able to not only harm the domains of the Egyptian gods but also proved how much stronger and more powerful He was against them. Also before the Death of the Firstborn, God tells Moses that this is a “judgement against the gods of Egypt”… interesting as you usually don’t judge inanimate objects or fictional beings…

8:10, You want an Adam Sandler movie review from the Nostalgia Critic? I'd say look into "Eight Crazy Nights," but that might be more fitting to do around the week of Hanukkah (this year between December 7 and 15), so if you want to get into one now, "Pixels" and "Jack & Jill" might be the best ones to check out.

Man...imagine if the Mario movie came out many months ago. You'd go into the theatre and sit, then in a little bit you'd go "Wait, Bowser's the bad guy in this movie?" And then every living being in that theater would immediately turn their head toward you in disbelief. Yes, even the bugs.

I've watched both, and while the 10 Commandants goes further into the tale of Moses, I appreciate Prince of Egypt for stopping at the point of when the two brothers' war ends. 10 C goes for the epic, booming story, while Prince goes for the very personal rivalry and I like my stories to be grounded in that kind of struggle, it makes me care about wanting the protagonist to beat the antagonist. That's just my opinion obviously.

After the 100th reaction to Nostalgia Critic's content, you could do reaction to Channel Awesome's movie trilogy: Kickassia, Suburban Knight, and To Boldly Flee. They're movies made by Nostalgia Critic together with all the reviewers from Channel Awesome at the time, they had all left due to certain controversies, some tied to those movies actually, but I think they're still great and funny movies to watch.
