In USA RL Seale 10 yr is bottled at 43% $32.99 and a Total Wine (multi state chain) exclusive. Thanks for comparison!

I like the plantation petty pineapple rum but you are right that it is sweet. Was amazing in an old Cuban cocktail.

The RL Seale 10 is only $30 here locally. I had kinda written off Barbados after Doorly 12. I guess I’ll have to try the RL Seale now.

RL Seale's 10 Year is significantly cheaper in the US compared to the Plantation ($32usd vs $55+) so based on that alone I'd go with the Seale's. Gonna have to do a comparison between the 10 year and the doorlys 12 though

Just bought 2 on sale for 55$ in Miami. It is only 43% here. 12 year old is 46%. The last time I tried it years ago, I did not like it. See if my palate changed.

RL Seals 10 year is $27.99 all day long in Texas where the Plantation is around $59.99. RL Seals is the best bang for your dollar at this time between the two!

The prices in the US are dramatically different. Plantations XO is $55. RL Seal 10 is $30. As a bourbon drinker, I really like Doorly’s 12. I tried the Plantation XO as a birthday present. Absolutely delicious. I’ve never tried the RL Seal but it’s now my next buy. At almost half the price of the Plantation XO. BTW Doorly’s 12 is $28. The price of it is what caused me to try it.

So have done a little bit of digging. There are some 43% in the UK. But it’s not what is imported properly. It’s the Barbados/US stuff. The Export Strength at 46% is the one wholesalers should be selling. (That said, now duty has gone up, it wouldn’t surprise me if lower ABV stuff became more the norm 😇)

Wow prices are way different here in Arizona. The seale here is 36$ and the xo is 70$

I’ve actually transitioned to RL 10 from XO but both are good. I actually recommend XO to folks that want a better alternative to Captain Morgan/Bumbu

Here you are Steve, with my favourite one (one of.those..) on your left. As to Plantation X0 -I ain't cracked it open yet, I'm afraid that might be not for me (20g sugar per litre) and I recon it could've been way too sweet for me. Maybe I should exchange it for something of my palate with a friend of mine who is a sweet tooth. Need your advice on that matter-is it worth trying ? (I know all is worth trying but...) P.S. You don't necessarily answer me, cause having watched this video to the very end, I already got the answer and I think I will leave the Plantation X0 for myself👌

I’ll answer you! Try the XO. It’s worth it. Too many people whinge about Sugar. But they’ll have Sugar in other stuff quite happily. Fact it it’s nowhere near as sweet as some rum…and it tastes bloody delicious!

Nope Kevin. Same liquid to my knowledge. But at 20g per litre, it’s not as sweet as your Diplomatico, Abuelo, and many others for example. And it doesn’t actually taste like 20g per litre either. Also in the UK, many would actually compare this to the likes of Bumbu. And I dare many many in the US too. So in relation to those, nope, it ain’t that sweet.

LOLS, it always cracks me up when people get so transfixed by this kinda stuff. Yes some Rums brands don't add anything. Yes, some Rum brands add a little. Some Brands add a lot. In the grand scheme of things, 20g/litre is about the average amount once you take the likes of Appleton, Worthy, Foursquare, Mount Gay etc. And this only applies to the small teeny tiny percentage of the market who drink Rum neat. (Less than 10% of the Market in the UK). But look lets get real for a second. 20g/litre sounds a lot. But if we're talking 25ml UK measures, thats less than 0.5g per shot! HALF a gram. it's a tiny amount and nothing really to get worked up about. And thats without the whole Cocktail convo. If you're using Plantation XO in an Old Fashioned for example... just add 1-2ml of sugar less than you normally would... simples! 😂😂

@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews Respectfully, my ire for this expression (and the "Barbados 5") is in large part because of how Barbados rum typically doesn't contain the sugar/additives of those Spanish heritage countries where that sort of this is expected.

I think the 12 is way above the 10yo. It's smoother, a little sweeter, more complexed. What do you love about the 10yo. I just dont get it it.

Everyone has their own palate. I obvs can’t comment on the 12. But hopefully you understood my palate from the other videos. I think Barbados Rum isn’t as good for me as Jamaican or St Lucia. RLSeale 10, and Plantation XO are the best of the bunch.
