I was already an adult with Sims came out. Shitty job, shitty apartment, shitty marriage. Then here came this little game where I could make a little me, wear anything I want, build the house of my dreams, get a fantasy job, talk to anyone I wanted to. It was amazing. I did my share of drowning sims that looked a bit like people I knew, but for the most part, I made the happy life I couldn't have at the time. Original Sims will always have a place in my heart for giving that to me.

I was playing sims 2 recently and I told my sim to do something and he refused because he didn't feel like it 🤣 he started yelling at me and it's so creepy and hilarious how they look at you kinda like Sonic would when you take to long. 😂 Sims 2 felt alive. You could play and have some control but not all control which made it fun. Expecting the unexpected.

Sims 2 is peak Sims for me. I love Sims 3's open world, but nothing can compare to the level of detail and personality found in Sims 2. Also it has the best version of university with being able to actually rush sororities and fraternities.

It’s hard to pick a favorite but mine would either be 1 or 3. I never played 2 until last year and I should play more but I just haven’t. I feel like 1 had the most personality, like you said if you left your sims alone for a second, it would just turn to pure chaos. I miss when they had astrological signs and could lose skill points and had all the iconic tacky furniture, it was fun because it was silly. I don’t ever see that happening again for the sims, and that’s sad.

I've been playing since the first one. Personally Sims 3 is hands down my favorite. I literally never get bored. Even if I only had the base game I'd never get bored, but with all the expansions and mods I have, it brings me so much joy and entertainment. I feel like I can play any kind of character, story, and never run out of possibilities. And luckily it runs fine on my computer with smooth patch and the NRAAS suite keeping things in order. And with an extensive library of custom content, I actually prefer the look of Sims 3 to the other games. I get that Sims 4 is technically prettier, but I don't like the more cartoony look, and even with custom content and reshade it still has a stylized cartoony look to me that I can understand the appeal of but I don't like it. Replacing textures and building up a library of cas and buy stuff, hair, etc I like Sims 3 style best, I like the way alpha cc blends in with the world and object styles. Except the toddlers and children, they're ugly in Sims 3 no matter what I do haha. Sims 2 is definitely my second favorite, I play it somewhat regularly and I love it and the characters, lore, everything. I have a giant interconnected uber-mega-hood that I play rotationally and keep track of every character in a giant spreadsheet lol. And the nostalgia hits extremely hard. I guess 1 is 3rd? I don't play it very often though. When I do, I enjoy it for a few hours, but I don't connect to it the way I do with 2 and 3, it's mostly nostalgia. It brings me more joy than 4 does though, I guess, even just based on nostalgia lol. I play 4 occasionally but I usually get bored pretty quickly. Occasionally I'll get into it and play a few hours. I keep trying to get into it, I get excited when a new pack comes out and give it a try, but I just end up bored. It makes me feel disappointed because I want it to be better and I'm sad the Sims series made this turn, I'm really reallyyyy hoping things improve with 5/René. I agree that Castaway is one of the best though. I love both the PC version and the PS2 version, I also love Urbz. I hope they make another of the offshoot, themed games again some day. I think Medieval didn't do great and they kind of stopped. I like Medieval though lol. I guess they're kind of doing it with the packs like Strangerville, I don't hate the scenarios and storied packs like Strangerville, I would enjoy them more if I enjoyed the game itself though lol. I love playing the scenario kind of things like finishing all the tombs in World Adv and doing stuff in the Future in Sims 3 a lot more because I enjoy the game as a whole and feel connected to the game and my sims, vs Strangerville where I kind of feel like I'm just pressing buttons and checking off boxes, even though that's really what the scenarios/guided play in Sims 3 and such were as well lol.

My ranking is the same as yours: 2, 3, 1 and 4. Sims 2 will forever be my favorite due to the liveliness of the Sims and the build buy aesthetic is just the right amount of fancy and functional. Sims 3 bless their heart, improved on a LOT from the Sims 2 but at the same time losing some of it's charm and the graphics aren't the best looking. Sims 1 is an old soul, has it's fun but the basic features and limitations do really showing the game's age. Sims 4? Could never.

You are all talking from a retrospective place. You need to view it in the context as to when these games originally came out. The sims 1 was revolutionary, and the sims 2 took a huge leap from the sims 1 to sims 2, then three went a little further with the open world, then the sims 4 was a massive set back.

I actually went back to the sims 3 recently (im not playing sims 4 anymore until curse forge supports updating multi file mods) and literally have 1 sim that ive been playing for months now on bridgeport. Theres just s o o o o much more detail and challenge in sims 3 that makes gameplay fun and actually feel meaningful. I especially love how relationships work compared to sims 4. Becoming friends with someone actually takes time and effort: u cant do it in 1 day and u have to maintain them bc of relationship decay. The game also rewards u for having a high charisma skill by making it easier, but the skill alone has its own challenge (u have to have a certain amt of friends and relationships to lvl up). The time and challenge involved actually makes me feel close to the friends my sim has. This plus the open world means my sim is NEVERRR home bc shes always hanging out with them. That said, sims 4 has hella quality of life changes still. Its rly annoying when u cant order anything bc some npc wanted to talk to the mixologist. Multitasking was a godsend.

Becoming friends in The Sims 3 is definitely possible in one day. A sim with enough charisma to give charming introductions can make friends with the introduction alone (at least, in my game). I've successfully asked sims to move in after just having met (without insta-friending through charming introduction). A sim that plays guitar or rhythm-a-con can even make friends without ever socially interacting with them.

@Dreamkid thats y i dont use those introductions bc it takes away the meaningfulness of friendships for me. But either way to even get there u still have to lvl up charisma which is a challenge itself depending on how many friends ur sim has. My sim leveled up very fast bc shes a social butterfly so shes alwaysss talking to ppl to the point where i felt the need to lvl her down a few. But ik for most sims its not like that.

I consider what happens in a day a summary of months of events considering pregnancy lasts just three days, so making friends in a single day isn't necessarily unrealistic depending on how one chooses to view it ;)

I barely played it for a year up until 2019/2020 (console) when the world went on lockdown I was playing it constantly. Then I got a taste of sims 2 and I was obsessed.. I would stay up all night on the computer with my back hurting nd everything LOVED IT.. then it got on my nerves bc of how easily it was to get kids taken away so I just went back to sims 4. My list from worst to best is TS4, TS1, TS2, then TS3. I just like the personalities of the sims in TS3 the best. Sims 2 sims could feel too similar after a while since it was a sliding scale of a handful of personalities but actual personality traits changed everything for me.

Yas, this - the Sims 3 personalities are definitely the best. Trait interaction is always interesting, and sometimes surprising; even when I’ve used the exact same traits in two sims, if I send them off to do different things, they’ll get different interests and then the same traits may cause different behaviors. It’s like they’re growing and changing and definitely makes them feel alive!

Sims 2 and 3 will always be best for me (unless Sims 5 prove me wrong). As a child, Sims 3 never gave us any issues, we never had any lags but then again my brother is a tech genius and built his own cpu to run any games so that might explain a lot. Sims 4 can never live up to the previous games, even with more packs. The code was broken from the beginning and they haven't made any effort in fixing which is why any new pack just breaks the game.

As a young whippersnapper who plays the sims a lot I can confirm that it can be stressful and it is NOT a game you can leave unpaused for more than a few seconds. Funny story, my little cousin had a vampire sim but because he had the loves the outdoors trait it caused issues, we went to go get a snack, came back, and he burned outside! They should make the sims 5 to have: - The sims 2 cutscenes and extra characteristics for each sim including how traits affects skills. - sims 3 open world and storylines, in addition to the varieties in build mode and design. And the laundry stuff - sims 4 graphics and moodlets.

Objectively: the sims 2 is the most advanced and most realistic therefore is the best. The Sims 3 ties with the The Sims 2 with its immersive and endless customization. The Sims 4 is better than the first sim game but it is embarrassing how the 4th installment is only a tad better than the first one💀. My favorites will always be Sims 3 and Sims 4. writing this before watching the vid. to me personally its sims3 and thats why i also play it even to this day. second goes to sims 2 to me cause that was the one i initially grew up with (actually played sims1, leave me alone i am old) but sims 2 was the first i actually played for a long time, that one sims 2 pack where you could open up your own restaurant (and other stores) ist still the very best sims addon overall to me. and then back when sims 3 came out it felt so unreal... my pc might have been a bit bad so it wasnt great performance wise but having that open world was such a game changer, suddenly having an entire city to run around in... holy moly...

I lived with all of the sims and I loved sims 2 and sims 3 at the time but.. the sims 4 (with most of the packs and cc) is better in my opinion. Whenever i try going back to playing the older games it’s fun for a bit but as an “aesthetic” gamer and builder/decorator the sims 4 just works better. Also even though the sims 4 has less gameplay due to probably the closed world system which i hate, the game still runs better than other games, better graphics and i like that you can create your own storylines unlike older games. Older games have a more linear gameplay experience where you have to follow the options that are available. In the sims 4 due to the lack of gameplay mechanics you have to create your own storyline to make it more fun which is fun to me

For me, The Sims 3 was top dog, it was my whole teen life, the way I could bulldoze an entire neighbourhood and rebuild it my own way was special, I love the Sims 4 and play it most because you can run businesses through some of the expansion packs, I've built a restaurant empire and though it isn't without it's faults, this is precisely the type of gameplay I always hoped the Sims 3 would get but never did, being able to own a chain of "food pubs' as I treat them using mods that let customers order at the bar as you would in most UK food establishments has given me hours of fun but the open world creativity and story progression of The Sims 3 is unmatched, I can only pray The Sims 5 gives us a blend of both open creativity like in S3 and the ability to grow your Sim from a regular person to a business tycoon like in S4.

Agreed Sims 2 forever! The Sims of Sims 2 were smart! They never got out of bed to collapse from fatigue, they didn't have bladder failure (with autonomy ON) simply because they were talking to someone or because the player forgot to tell them to go to a toilet. When the Sims 2 needs became urgent or they were uncomfortable they said uh-uh and no suggestion was going to make them forget how uncomfortable they were. You could leave them alone and they had a higher chance of actually surviving, making friends (or enemies) picking up their favourite hobby which was different for each sim or doing something that needed to be done. They had moods, they had uneven relationships, they had personality! Meanwhile Sims in 4 will do push ups or play the computer regardless of their likes, dislikes, traits etc. They are shallow and the same. Plus it's lost the charm previous iterations had because it focuses too much on being a life simulator of our current times/world and not enough on being the world of the Sims and their simmish culture and crazy ways for us to learn about and explore.

It's so hard to rank them because they all have their pros and cons. Ts1 got me hooked but I remember how exciting ts2 was since it improved so much from 1, but the open world of ts3 was mind blowing, and the gameplay was so immersive with amazing packs. The Sims 2 is my favorite for many reasons, including genetics, aspirations, and one-household-at-a-time progression (which for me is a feature, not a bug). Ultimately, though, I think what keeps me coming back to the game is not just the lore, but it's *interpretability.* Interpretability was something I think really got lost in the transition from personality sliders to personality traits. In The Sims 2, the personality sliders and lore gave you all you needed to interpret a living, breathing character from your Sim, whether custom or premade. Is this Neat Sim very organized, a control freak, or a hypochondriac? Is this Lazy Sim actually lazy or are they a hard worker as long as the job doesn't involve physical activity? Is this Shy and Grouchy Sim antisocial, or suffering from crippling social anxiety? This interpretability and the player participation inherent in it is probably why the premade characters of The Sims 2 are so iconic. Because the player puts a little bit of their own interpretation, a little bit of *themself,* into the character, there's a real connection there beyond the connection to a simple favorite entirely created by someone else. The Sims 2 premades are premade characters, but they are also, in a very meaningful way, *each Simmer's characters.* Traits really don't let you do that. They just say, "this is how the character is" and drop it on you in a wet flop, no interactivity required. It's especially frustrating when applied to iconic interpretable characters from previous games. My go-to example for this is Lilith Pleasant. In The SIms 2, you can interpret her as anything from a straight-up problem child to a tragic figure who's been neglected and is lashing out. In The Sims 4, they just flat-out gave her the Evil trait. Goodbye dark storyline about a Golden Child and Scapegoat family dynamic and the negative effects it has on both children, hello dime-a-dozen "good twin evil twin" setup. I absolutely hate what they did with my girl Lilith in The Sims 4.

Interesting opinion, I used to play the sims 4 a lot as well, however even with expansions I'd get bored, which lead me to try the sims 3 and I really enjoyed it, same thing with the sims 2 I could have tons of fun with both those games never played the sims 1. However I respect your opinion and keep playing the game if it's your favorite even if others say you should play sims 2 or 3.

I would definitely say Sims have evolved with graphics and build mode, but definitely devolved in many other ways with Sims4

The sims 4. Without mods is definitely lacking in gameplay even with lots of expansions and packs. I would get bored fairly quickly. Just seems lacking. But since growing together pack and update it definitely was more fun. I really enjoyed the infants and the family dynamics.I found I enjoyed it more. Must have pack growing together In my opinion. The sims 4 graphics abd build and buy mode is amazing. But since I started mods and cc omg sims 4 is like a new game lol 😂 I am completely addicted to it now a bit like when I was a teenager I was addicted to sims 2. Thankgod for mods it literally saved sims 4 for me. The sims 2 will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was amazing. I hated sims 3. I bought the game when it came out. But it didn’t feel like the sims to me. I hated the open world personally, I hated the graphics and the way the sims looked errgh lol I literally binned the disk and went back to sims 2. But I do like sims 4 now I love it actually thanks to the mods x

Sims 2 is my all time favourite. It’s alive, it’s vibrant and the Sims are just amazing 😊I love the way they look at you and won’t do something if they aren’t in the mood and even the chaos - the random fun that can ensue 😂

Mine would be: The Sims 3, The Sims 2, The Sims, and The Sims 4. I was still a little too young to fully appreciate The Sims 2 and the original, but I did play them. In fact, I used to run home from school just to play Sims 2! I absolutely love The Sims 3. Especially with NRAAS Mods. The freedom and the open world is incredible, and perfect for legacies and making stories up. I also have a proper gaming PC with a 3070ti and my fans still go crazy whenever I play it lol.

I agree about the cash grabbiness of Sims 4. They should at least give people the option to earn packs through gameplay adventures. For example, to get aliens we’d have to max out rocket science skill and be in the astronaut career. On our first trip as a fully fledged astronaut we stumble on to a family of aliens that are stranded and they need a rocket to get them to a new planet. So we have to save up our money and build them a UFO rocket. Now that they have a rocket they can go anywhere! from then on we have access to the Aliens pack, a new UFO style rocket and the alien family in our household library (ready to move in). As another example, to earn the vampire pack you must have a sim complete a ritual. Maybe your sim meets a new friend that happen to be homesick. The friends say they can only see their family again if your sims give permission for the family to visit. Once the vampires are officially welcomed into this world, by your gullible sims, we then gain access to vampire pack and the family of vamps we invited into our household. Vamps brave enough to live in Oasis spring should have a tense moodle. Maybe it says: “sunburned”, or “fear or desert sun”. Maybe other creatures should have unique moodles like that to? Aliens could just be itchy when they shower in water. Maybe they have to use chalk to clean themselves or can only bathe in the “dreaming of water” purple pool liquid.🤷🏻‍♀️🤔 But I digress, these are just some ideas I had while watching the intro to your most recent video. I decided to move my comment to this video’s comment section since the title seemed more relevant to the topic. Maybe the sims 4 creators will add some of these ideas into the game for free.

I think the problem with the sims 4 is that it is literally a dollhouse game. The sims, the 'dolls', have no personality because you are playing with dolls and you have to fill in everything in your head. This makes it much less fun. In sims 1 your sims would straight up refuse to do anything bc they were slightly upset, in sims 2 the other sims would react in such a way as to completely derail story-lines in hilarious ways, and sims 3 was very similar to 2 but added the open world so the background stories happen too

I really don't think 4 has better graphics than 3 (or even 2), it just has more of a cheap mobile art-style. Most of the new features they introduced in 4 are all flash with no substance.

I agree 💯% with your order of rating. However, Sims 4 still does not offer the most content, and also offers the least gameplay (it seems like more, but it is repetitive quantity, not actual unique gameplay features). As a matter of fact, even the graphics engine is lacking, 3d cartoonish characters, using the original Sims 2d background (unplayable, and unusable). While building and CAS are the best, Sims 4 has yet to offer a tool to build neighborhoods or worlds, and each area is so limited, unlike its predecessors. Sims 1 is not only the most nostalgic for me, but it is the Souls-like game of the entire franchise. It's 2d graphics, at the time were ahead of its its time, and it offered the absolute best magic system. The downside of 7 day workweeks/school days, the lack of aging or genetics, the overall difficulty, etc., could all be overlooked with all the content and gameplay elements, at a time whereby EA wasn't calling all the shots. In essence, it was not a cash grab. Sims 3, with its open world, took the franchise to a whole new level. Unfortunately, to actually be able to play the game, one needs to invest in a high end gaming PC. But I have to say, EVERY expansion pack (including the base game and the store worlds) was jammed packed with content and gameplay elements, that the entire Sims 4 franchise cannot offer. While, Sims 3 might have seemed like the biggest cash grab to date, I, like so many others was able to get the entire store (aside from 2 worlds, and their bonus content), for FREE, just by watching ads and using the rotational sales. I even was able to accumulate so many additional SimPoints to gift countless others. The downside was all the lag, and the need for mods to work out the glitches, gameplay and routing issues. Thank you NRaas❣ That brings us to the best for gameplay mechanics, chemistry, best supernatural (aside from aliens and vampires), as well as the most Lore and 4th wall breaking. As in Sims 3, mods are needed, but not for the same reason, just to help ease corruption. Even adding in graphic mods, the Sims 2 is actually the most beautiful and detailed, with the best physics and overall replayability. And while Sims 3 gave us the World tool, it never left the beta stage, so Sims 2 built in create a neighborhood, is by far, the chef's 💋❣

For me it’s sims 2 & sims 4. Sims 2 for good graphics and great details compare to sims 1. Sims 1 is just nostalgia. I pick sims 4 because it’s the only game I can play on my laptop since sims 3 I can’t even play because it would be laggy since my laptop sucks.
