Keep the rod high when dropshotting Jonny gove the reel a turn and leave it for a bit and just give it a wiggle then give it a turn. Normally works so so well does dropshotting

Right idea on the drop shotting but the rod is far to heavy for it. Also the lead isn't quite right. The rod should be held over your hand so your holding the rod with you index finger and thumb. Also try a worm rather than a soft lure

The best way I've found is to go and take a big torch at night and a net on you local canal as they rest at the side at night time shine your light into the water and when you see them at the side scoop them up in your net , I've had some massive ones with that technique trust me on it , no rod needed
