@@Alan_Marin torterra's typing is ground, grass, hence flare blitz will not one hit him in either way, and a single earthquake from a torterra will one hit ko a recoil weakened infernape, while i love infernape, any pokemon who can withstand one atk from it can one hit him due to low defense, similar to blaziken, but blaziken + speedboost + protect + mega makes him a hundred times better than an infernape in any setup

Venusoar wins in kanto not in kalos, charizard beats venusoar easily as it has a WAY better mega and it gives you an easy flyer so you don’t have to catch a trash and unusable talonflame just because you need a flyer and fire type, just get a charizard. Need a flyer, get charizard. Need a fire type, get charizard. Need a powerful mega. Get charizard. Need flexible type coverage over all gyms and elite four members, get charizard. Charizard easily wins in the kalos playthrough Charizard is also trash in a kanto playthrough as it gets DESTROYED by brock, misty, and many others

In generation 6, Blastoise gets Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Water Pulse and Aura Sphere and combine that with it's Mega's amazing ability and you have something very, very strong.

Yeah but they're not STAB attacks and you don't get to use the mega stone until gym 3/4 until you get to evolve it to its last form. Also it's monotype which holds it back in general.

@Tr Uz Ice Beam Tm is not until after gym 6 so you can't use it in the grass gym, it's only useful in the Dragon type elite four member. Type weaknesses don't matter for ingame playthroughs since if your fast enough and you overlevel (which is likely) you can just OHKO everything and Blastoise STATS are defensively leanign so it's not gonna OHKO bulky opponents.

I'm not sure that Charizard is the best starter in the competitive part, becuse although you can't know which mega evolution Charizard will evolve to, both megas are weak to rock type, so stone edge/rock slide/ any other decent rock move will shut the mega charizard (both x and y)

The upside to Y is that it gets a huge amount of Sp Attack and Drought to boost fire type moves and instant Solar Beams, which comes in handy because Solar Beam covers literally all of Charizard’s weaknesses, and Dragon Pulse because you might see a Mega X.

Megazard Y is neat because he destroys two of the types he's weak against with Drought + Solarbeam. Rock types aren't usually the best when it comes to special defense or speed, making them prime targets for Solarbeam, and water types have the power of their water type moves cut in half. Sure, Stealth Rock is a big problem, but that problem is somewhat mitigated by using Megazard Y as a lead, or having a rapid spinner on your team.

I agree with everything except the competitive usage part. In Ultra Sun/Moon OU Charizard Y usage is close to zero, so all the Charizards you see are almost guaranteed to be X. Additionally, it's not really that hard to guess what Charizard your opponent has if you inspect team preview carefully. Charizard Y is pretty terrible in the current meta and Charizard X is about as good as Mega Venusaur, so Venusaur would win for competitive usage IMO. In the final tally that would put Charizard and Venusaur in a tie for first place with 9 points each and Blastoise last with 6 points.

Wipper Snapper, OU players rarely use BL pokemon because most of the time they're not the best option for your team and are outclassed by pokemon that are actually in OU. Pokemon in the borderline tiers (BL, BL2, BL3, and BL4) always get shafted every generation because they're too good for the tier under them but terrible in the tier above them. A good example is Staraptor.

The Smogon stats are a bit outdated as Mega Charizard Y has fallen to BL, which to those who don't know is when an OU Pokemon isn't used enough for OU but is deemed too powerful to fall to UU. Also poor Blastoise fell to RU even in it's Mega form.

First of all, Mega Venusaur gets Thick Fat ability reducing its two weaknesses and Charizard and Mega Charizard Y gets 4x weakness to rock so if Stealth Rocks are set up they are gonna make its HP 49% or half where as Mega Charizard X can also be damaged leaving it to 79% or 78% whereas Mega Venusaur with Thick Fat can withstand a fire move if the opponent don't know it's ability then Venusaur gets a chance to set Toxic and .......... Oh! U know it OKAY So the winner should be Venusaur (Venusaur has one of the best mega in competitive said by aDrive)

The crooked eye Drought boosts the power of fire type moves by 50% which would negate the Thick Fat boost, and even then Charizard gets Air Slash, which is both super effective and not reduced by Thick Fat anyway, as well as all forms of Charizard having access to Roost.

GotNoClue Venusaur also gets access to Synthesis which also heals very high hp in drought so that is also a point. And the concept of the Thick Fat reduction u said is not applied Charizard X (only for M Charizard Y) and it also gets access to Leech Seed and Poison Powder whereas Charizard only gets access to Will-O-Wisp which reduces hp every turn and cuts my attack (hp reduction will covered by Synthesis and cutting of attack but Venusaur is a special attacker) another point. Third point- it gets access to Amnesia with raises Sp.Def and M Charizard Y is a Special attacker

Also in red and blue blastoise only is useful for brock and struggles with misty and Lt surge and Erika elimante blastoise and dose good with blane and giavionna but venasuar is way better he kills brock misty resist Lt surge and erika gose even with koika and struggles with sebrina and blane but those are late in the game that you will have pokemon to cover it and venasuar is pretty good with the elite 4 it destroys loirel kills brunos onix and is good with blues rhydon so pretty much i proved my point. True, he's pretty bulky and could easily lead yourself to victory. It's a great bulky pokemon with decent special attack. And Generation 6 above, it's Mega wipes the floor. He defeats Brock, Misty, Electric isn't effective a you can tank/use other moves that aren't grass or poison for Erika. Koga is, sure, hard with a Venusaur. Same goes for Sabrina, Blaine could be okay if you can tank enough and have Earthquake. And Giovanni yeah.

There is in all this hides bulbasaur doom - spearow... what makes training bulbasaur extremely difficult. This is why although charmander is weaker agains brock training it way easier to the level that is sufficient to challenge brock and squirtle is bulkier than bulbasaur and more effective than charmander.

@@randolphmartin6788 i did research AND tests... and what they say isnt accurate as all people count major battles which is minority of the game. I didnt find one person who would actually include all possible trainer battles. Only that would be semi accurate as there are as well wild encounters. Bulbasaur line doesnt have reliable recovery till late or bulk but has the most weaknesses of all starters. On top of that it doesnt have very rich movepool and for long time relies on vine whip. Hell Pikachu is much better starter. (Light ball or not)

Blastoise should've been a steel type in Gen 2, like it went from a wise turtle to a tank-tortose fusion, it's shell and cannons are inorganic, clearly metal, also moves like Flash Cannon would make sense for it. It also has similiar stats to a steel-type. If Blastoise was half-steel, it would be so much better since steel is probably the best type as of now, and the steel-water combo is great as it gets rid of steel's 2 weaknesses, and even though it gans an extra weakness, it gets a ton of resistances and an immunity

I've done my research as well, and while your research is also good, but I have a counter argument. First of all, the Competitive Category. While Venasaur has always been good, Charizard was always not very good in competitive, only becoming good recently because of the megas. Secondly, the Kalos category. Really, how good the Pokemon is shouldn't be based on which version you pick. You gotta have it be good in whatever version you have, therefor making Venasaur the better one in that category as well. Therefore, making Venasaur the best starter with my research. Don't get me wrong, I have no bias towards Venasaur. I love venasaur much more than Charizard, but for this I have no bias. I just did research.
