James you made a video that directly applies to me. I will too confirm the JoeTotisserie does fit and works well in my Large Green Egg. After seeing your video where you tested the slowroller vs two defectors and couldn't taste the difference I bought a Spider rack and another pizza stone to place under my Eggspander. This has worked great in increasing the fire temperature and smoke taste along with protecting the protein from burning on the bottom. I been using my Green Egg since 2012 and still use the daisy wheel. I have several pieces of cast iron grates and pans along with steel woks that work great in the Egg.

Great video James! I’ve been on team green for a while. Last week I used a slo roller classic in my Large BGE and it was a game changer for my beef ribs. I placed a spider above the fire, sat a pizza stone over it then I installed the slo roller similar to a double indirect.

Good stuff! I am working on my double indirect setup for the egg to give you some more options

Haven't watched one of your videos in a while. Will be looking at some other ones now that I am here. I have been using the BGE's for roughly 20 years. If not for the competition, I do not think the accessory list would have grown.
@SmokingDadBBQ2 ай бұрын
welcome back. i do agree that it benefits consumers and i am glad to see BGE responding... for a long time it felt different when i first owned on and was watching others push the new stuff

Many also fit the Weber Summit Kamado.

Thanks for doing this video! However, I just got the hardest side-eye from my wife when I asked if we could get a joetisserie…might have to to put a pin in it until the Super Bowl. I have kind of an anti-accessories request but with Thanksgiving coming up, it would be super cool to see you do a back-to-the-basics kamado turkey cook without all the fancy (expensive) gadgets. For example, is spatchcocking still the best alternative to rotisserie? Thanks SDBBQ, you’re the best!

***I ended up getting the Joetisserie for my Gen 1 BGE and the joetisserie doesn't quite fit perfectly due to the older hinge design. There are small air gaps on the front and rear of lid when closed on the joetisserie, thinking about putting some spare felt gasket on the joetisserie ans see of I can close the gap.

Looking for a Kamado to transition from Weber summit , my wife prefers the green egg to the red Joe, I told her smoking dad says Joe all the way! But now this vid just in time to see the accessories options, maybe an egg will be the right choice, thank you!

my wife likes green more than red if she had her pick of paint jobs too

James, if you still have the Golden’s Cast Iron Kamado, can you tell me what accessories fit in it? I’d REALLY like to know. Thanks!
@SmokingDadBBQ2 ай бұрын
the goldens is 20 so you can't use any big joe accessories and the KJ classic are just under sized .... the half moon grids can obviously sit on top of the goldens cast iron grids. I will see if i can find a classic joetissiere and rack around to test fit

A great video @SmokingDadBBQ ! Love the grill comparisons for each accessory. Personally, I'm Team Red. But I can see how this would benefit the BGE group. My brother was given a Vision ceramic grill. Hard time trying to figure out what fits the grill and what doesn't.

I have a Vision Classic B. Have him look up the Ceramic Grill Store. They have many accessories for double indirect grilling.

Sorry, this doesn’t apply to the video. But thought you would find this worth looking into. I’ve had a kamado Joe for years. Love it and hate it sometimes. However I’ve found the perfect solution to a long smoke. I bought wood pellets, and rake my charcoal from the last cook to the outside so then sprinkle in the pellets through out. Dump my chimney in the middle, then throw a handful on top (it’ll smoke hard till the grill comes up to temperature then blue smoke). Then I put a single layer in the ash dump like with wood chips. The benefits are what the pellets you can get. I got buy one get one free competition blend ( maple, oak, hickory and cherry) 40lbs for $11.00

Does this also work vice versa? Will the BGE rack system work in a KJ

I can't find a rotisserie unit for my Grilla Grill 24 inch that I bought years ago. I got it cause of the price at the time was half the price of a Green Egg. And, I did not know about Kamado Joe at the time. Do you think the Joe Rotisserie would fit my Kamado grill? If I have to, I would get a Big Joe.
@SmokingDadBBQ2 ай бұрын
I don’t have one to confirm for you I’m afraid
@billystpaul89072 ай бұрын
@@SmokingDadBBQ And, Grilla has no plans to offer one either. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get a Big Joe. Is the series 2 enough of a grill to get? The 3 is kind of like the one I have now.
@jimalafogianis95132 ай бұрын
The doe Joe in my opinion is a waste of money. Use the heat deflectors and some 10mm nuts for separation and buy a $20 pizza stone. Works perfectly each time. Spend the money on your ingredients. Even the joetiserie. I made my own out of an old Webber kettle lid. Had an old rotisserie motor and there you go. Not perfect but does the job. I mean if money is no object go ahead but get a soapstone or cast iron griddle instead.

What type of cheese was used with the prosciutto wrapped asparagus?
@SmokingDadBBQ2 ай бұрын
That was mozzarella. The asparagus was blanched in boiling salt water for 40 seconds. Dried and wrapped. Drizzle some balsamic vinegar reduction glaze over the top to serve. So good

I want to know what accessories fits in a round primo
@SmokingDadBBQ2 ай бұрын
My primo is the oval so I can’t confirm exactly … the grids are usually a 100% it’s the rotisserie and pizza rings that would be risky. Most everything else I showed here should in theory fit
@ErnieDebets-yk7vn2 ай бұрын
Just get a KJ to start with. They are clearly a better design to start with. Every BGE owner I know has a cracked firebox
@SmokingDadBBQ2 ай бұрын
the KJ system does solve the fire ring and box... but the base that they sit on is one piece and both of mine are cracked along with everyone else's so this still is an opportunity for a brand to do better IMO
@ErnieDebets-yk7vn2 ай бұрын
@ I’ve had my classic 3 for over 3 years now and use it several times a week and don’t see any cracking. Having said that I also don’t cook to the extreme temperatures that you do.

For sure the half moon grids and cast iron and racks etc. the soapstone surface is unique, the additional carbon steel I showed and in the us the rotisserie from BGE is no longer for sale so the rotisserie functionality at time of recording is also unique. Outside the US some markets have access to the BGE rotisserie
