Toughbuilt over any other knee pad any day. I have been plumbing for over four decades, so my knees have really taken a beating from my younger years when I thought my knees would never be a problem. I purchased so many different styles of pads, and nothing was good enough…until I found Toughbuilt. I can wear them all day long and they don’t bother me one bit. I couldn’t work without them. I even forget I am wearing them and find myself still wearing them on my drive home from work. I couldn’t work without them, and I have no problems with them at all. They are a life saver as well as a knee saver.

This was a really helpful review on knee pads! I’ve been looking at the toughbuilts for a while now. Might invest in the non-marring ones

Are the Milwaukee ones any good ?
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
@@jamielong9963 If you're moving about on your knees without getting up then they're great, but if you get up and walk around, then I find that the do slip down, also not good when wearing shorts, I find the straps cut in the the back of my legs because I have them so tight, but this goes for all knee pads. For some strange reason, them manufactures must think that all trade people are large. I dread to think how the female trades cope.

the tough built ones to my knowledge come in 4 sizes S,M,L,XL (i have XL, and in the video you show L at 3:20 )

Appreciate the detailed review! Can I ask what boots you’re wearing here?
@ChampionsOfTheTrade7 ай бұрын
Thank you. The boots are Solid Gear (manufactured by Snickers), they have a ratchet system instead of laces and a carbon fiber toe cap. Possibly the most comfortable boots I've ever worn.

i bought some Rexbetty... I been wearing the for years, but they slide down and they have velcro straps, they do the job but could be better but i refuse to spend 50 bucks on something that looks to be better but are actually junk..I guess I will use what i have for the rest of my life

A good wholesaler should allow you to try them on in the store.

I use the knee pad more often because the pair that straps on rubs the skin where the knee bends.

Sorry mate but im pretty sure that the first pads You putting inside the pockets face backward. Ive got the similar by dassy. On my ones thete is a sign that says " knee this side".
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you are saying, I have had several cheap knee pads in the past that say that, and I think they feel wrong putting them in the way the label says. How ever in the case of this video, the Scruffs pads that I inserted into the trousers do have a printing that says 'Inside', so in this case, they are the correct way round. Good spot though 👍, thanks for watching.

Regarding the 2nd knee pad, the does the hinged feature keep the knee pad from sliding down? Because the top section secures well above the knee? I noticed some knee pads have the hinge feature so I wondered if it would hold the knee pad in place. The knee pads I wear are hard shelled and I end up kneeling on the top edge of the knee pad because of slippage.
@ChampionsOfTheTrade5 ай бұрын
@@jodie1424Hi Jodie. Unfortunately not, I have yet to find a pair that does not slide, except perhaps the ProKnee (check out more recent videos). You will pay a lot for it, but they're measured to fit each individual.
@ChampionsOfTheTrade5 ай бұрын
@@jodie1424 actually the only pads that don't slide are the ones you insert into the trousers, McAlpine do a great version of this, you can see them in my latest Installer video. All the best. Please let me know how you get on.

What would be the best option for when you're constantly kneeling down and walking? My current knee pads always slip down, I'm looking for ones that won't fall down when walking and constantly getting up and down (I'm an electrician and work on big condo buildings, so I've got lot of electrical boxes and receptacle to install across all the units of a floor)
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I'm yet to find the perfect knee pads, they all slip to some extent. The Tough built ones are my favorite, but more often than not, I tend to use a good kneel pad, it's the trade off of another thing to carry/move versus having to pull them back up every 10 minutes.
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
If you can, find a good wholesaler that'll let you try some on. Let me know how you get on.

@@ChampionsOfTheTrade does the hinge design of the Toughbuilt help keeping the kneepad into place? I would think it's less prone to slippage when walking, but I might be wrong
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
@@HCkev I find them a little too big so they do slip on me, the braces, I think are more for support and prevent twisting. Another option, but one I personally don't like, is using the pads that slide into the pockets on your trousers, they're cheap as chips, but make your knees sweat, and don't offer the same protection as the others.

My biggest problem with knee pads is that I have chicken legs. i usually fix it by straping the knee pads to my belt with a bungie cord. It works well, but i plan to make something better some time.
