If I am shooting a crop sensor camera, my favorite lens for dogs is the 28-75mm f/2.8 Tamron. If I am using a full frame camera, my go-to lens is the 70-200mm f/4 (the 70-200mm f/2.8 version is great but, it is larger and heavier than the f/4 lens)... I detest wide angle lenses for dogs because these lenses tend to exagerate the length of the dog's snout! I photographed hundreds of dogs for our Maltese Rescue California organization. Originally, I shot with Canon DSLR cameras but switched to Sony mirrorless. I especially enjoy the animal eye autofocus on the Sony cameras.

Very informative vid! Been using 50mm but I can't get close to the dog enough with this, will have to try 35mm now. Do you use AI servo for focusing?

I am using 35mm until I get a better zoom lens. It is MUCH better than the 50mm. I can get pretty close.

I have a A6300 and use a sigma 16mm 1.4... it's a landscape lens but what you think for dogs? I also have a 50mm vintage lens I rarely use

F stop is a property of your lens and not the camera unless you're using a non interchangeable lens camera.

Ok, Canon R6. That'd be a yes then. I'm on fuji xt3 Co converting focal length to 1.5 crop factor. My 10-24mm wouldn't be far away.
