I picked the 350h premium with 14 inch screen. The price worked for me. I am averaging 43.7 mpg over the 7500 miles I have had this NX and very happy overall. For you 450h owners be sure to use the gas up and do not let it sit in your tank for months.

Absolutely, I have talked about this in my channel and advise other who subscribe to my channel. I am on my 3rd tank of gas and on my 5th month soon. Current tank is about 2 months old, but it is gasoline with no ethanol. It's great that the 350h with the 14" screen works for you. I was thinking of the 350h, but unfortunately they did not offer FSport in North America. So I went to the 450h+ and experience a transition to EV.

Yet again another great owner-experience-video LSFT! I Had the same conclusions for someone with a daily drive within 37 miles, but take long road trips every so often/don't want to deal with charging network/road anxiety, and want a comfortable drive.

I've seen a lot of people saying the PHEV is dead weight, but looking at the efficiency, it's not that bad. In long trips, I do think that driving EV in city driving and HV in freeway/highway driving is the best option. The Auto EV/HV still prioritize EV too much.

We considered the plug in hybrids by BMW, Volvo, GM and Toyota. I think the NX had the most luxury, tech , range and great looks. Our last car was a Highlander Hybrid and considering how much Carmax gave us for that car, the choice of getting the top trim Lexus NX was simple. Paying over MSRP was painful but I guess it is what it is, if we wanted it, we had to pay it. We also didnt want the range anxiety of a full electric. Most days, the Car goes less then 37mi so we have not used much gas since we got the car in May. We have spent 21 gallons of fuel and have 2210mi on the odometer. I guess you can avg that to 100+ mpge? We just got a level 2 charge outlet in our garage and we are happy about our choice we made with the car. Thanks for another great video!

I have to agree with your conclusions. I bought the 450h+ F-Sport in the UK and just about always achieve over 40 miles of EV range - my best being 47 miles. Before buying I calculated that at the advertised 40 miles of EV range would cover in the region of 80% of my return journeys and so it's proved; for me the 450h+ was the perfect choice. One added bonus is that my office and local supermarket have free EV charging points. After 20 years of buying BMWs this was something of a leap of faith for me but four months into my Lexus journey I remain delighted with my NX.

That's absolutely good to hear that you are taking advantage of PHEV and that your office and local supermarket offers free charging. This video was just for potential buyers that want a hybrid and didn't know what to get. If wait times were not an issues, the 450h+ is definitely my choice and it was my choice. The monthly payments is much higher than my previous 18 NX300, but I accounted for the gasoline cost savings to the payments which made it feel more worth the extra in payments.

Great review, well done! For us, we chose the 350H for the pano roof and the Mark Levinson sound system. We said that if it came on the 450, we wouId have gotten that. We’re lucky here in Australia as we could option the F-Sport on the Hybrid and that’s what we did.
@lsft
@lsft 2 жыл бұрын
Originally, I wanted to have the ML and pano roof, but unlike Australia, the 350H did not offer F-Sport. So I had to weigh on the non F-Sport vs the more expensive 450h+ FSport. After giving it some thought, I was like.. I typically listen to streaming music or radio talk shows while driving and I don't sit in the back to enjoy the extra light of the pano roof. Then I was thinking of the transition to an EV, so I decided to go the extra mile and get the 450H+. My conclusion - I do not regret making this decision. The PHEV has helped me ride over the high gas prices which already accounts for some of the extra payments I am making when I compared to the 350H. Paying $10 on gas to drive 100km vs paying $4.5 on gas and electricity to drive 100km is very different.

LSFT wow another great informative video keep them coming. Now for I travel about 140km a day with my ICE Petrol guzzling Lexus car and I am in the market for a PHEV or EV , Here in South Africa there are few options for EV’s but most are Germans , Swedish and British brands so was hoping Lexus would bring the UX300e as entry level EV into the country. But to answer the question the NX450H + is more appealing as a transitions from a ICE to PHEV to Full EV. F-sport trim also part of my required specification so it’s a must I think my decision would final be based on cost between the NX350h F sport , NX450h F- sport or RZ450e and RX450h+ so will wait until Lexus SA make the official EV launching announcement for 2023.

In France, for a long term rent as a company car, this is a no brainer. The 450H+ rent is lower (at comparable trim level), the insurance premium are low considering the price and the powertrain and your company is almost totally exempted of any eco taxes....at a point the cost per kilometer of a 450H+ is lower than a diesel non premium SUV. Thanks for your reviews. QUESTION: what you have experienced on longer trips as regards availability of electric power (and whether you have taken special steps to conserve the electric power) BACKGROUND: I live in GTA and am trying to decide between the 350h / 450h+, and the extra performance from the 450h+ is very enticing. However, I am unclear what happens on longer trips as the battery gets used up. {My understanding with the 350h is that the engine/braking can recharge the battery as the car continues with the trip.} However, with the 450h+ it is unclear to me whether any 'battery recharge' is available from operating the car (a la 350h) - this feature certainly seemed to be referred to when the 450h+ was initially launched, but my local dealer advised that the only way to recharge the battery is by plugging in.
@lsft
@lsft Жыл бұрын
The charging infrastructure in Ontario is still not that convenient like I drove to a cottage over the long weekend and in the small town where I stayed, there was only 1 charging station at the fire station. It just didn't make sense to drive there charge and then drive back to the cottage. In fact, I brought my charger and charged at the cottage. If I would be going on longer trips ( beyond the estimate range in EV ), I would then drive locally in EV mode and drive HV when driving on highway speeds. That way I can get the most efficiency of both powertrains. Driving EV on highway does not give you much regen power, so you will use the battery much faster. There is a feature called Charge Mode and that will charge the battery up to 80% using the gas engine. I won't suggest that since it's not the most efficient way to charge the battery. What you describe is that the 350h has regenerative braking that will recharge the car battery. The 450h+ has the same feature, but definitely it will not recharge the full battery as it has a much larger battery. The 450h+ is essentially a 350h with a much larger battery. 450h+ does the same things the 350h does when it's in HV mode. The biggest difference of the 450h+ is that it can drive in EV mode without the gas engine running until it battery is depleted or if it gets too cold and you need heat.
@petermiddleton5788
@petermiddleton5788 Жыл бұрын
@@lsft Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I agree that 'plugging-in' is the most efficient way to recharge the 450h+. REQUST: Can you please confirm that my following interpretation is correct? It is very interesting to me that you refer to a 'Charge-Mode' for the 450h+ that will use the engine to partially (upto 80%) charge the battery - that is an important detail for me as it means one need never get 'range anxiety' about losing the extra power provided by the electric motor. [I realise one never loses all power, as the gas engine is always available, but using gas engine only is not particularly powerful]
@lsft
@lsft Жыл бұрын
@@petermiddleton5788 Charge Mode is different from the regenerative braking. You will never have range anxiety in the 450h+. Although, the car says there is no EV range left, it reserves 30% battery for HV mode, which is similar to what the 350H has. So the engine will never run by itself with no electric engine to support. In HV mode, you will get the full 300hp power. In EV, you only get the power from the electric engines which I find powerful enough.

My concern with the 450+ version is how the cold weather affects both the charging time and range of the EV capabilities. I’ve been following the tesla chats over the past couple of years and their range is affected anywhere from 25-50% range loss. I really would like to see the real world range on your 450+ during the winter season.
@lsft
@lsft 2 жыл бұрын
I will be able to tell you when winter comes. At this point the rated 61km seems to be a very good average. I have been able to drive 70-80km in the summer months. The max I have achieved to date is 84.1km which is about 52 miles. Assuming in the winter months we will be seeing < 61km maybe only 50km range. But then when you average out the year, it is still good. Even with a NX350h, we will have similar issue as the engine will need to warm up longer and use more gasoline. So the difference between the two wouldn't be that significantly different. I will be doing more winter driving when it comes and watch out for my videos when it's cold in Canada.

@lsft

It says in the manual that premium is recommended. For some reason, there are Lexus buyers who can afford a premium vehicle still want to use regular fuel.
