I personally think that 1 should pick fedora with kde for future and second thing is instead of manjaro I suggest to use cachyos for a few reasons like manjaro community has agreed that manjaro is not arch because manjaro is unstable and instead of using pacman it uses pamac which is weird

Just polish up a version of Android x86 enough, to download the needed drivers off the web ☺️. I think it's safe to suspect PC Linux is purposely being gate kept by such ridiculous complications, like having to copy off random web sites command lines, to paste in the terminal, with unknown results, when everywhere else it's a matter of clicking a few buttons to fix much more complex problems.

a couple of notes: while most distros will have a certain desktop environment preinstalled, you can install any desktop on any distro. even if you keep the same one, most desktops have insane customisabilty when compared to windows so you can change the way they look drastically just from the settings gui. don't let the way a a distro looks influence your choice also, dont pick some super obscure distro that no one's heard about as your first daily driver. make sure to pick something well documented so you can find help if you need it. I would personally recommend something debian based for first distro. debian and all its derivatives are well documented and well talked about. lastly, a tip I have is if you have picked something debian based (ubuntu, mint, PopOS, kali, parrot, etc) and you run into the problem, fixes for any of these other distros will likely work for you too. I daily drive debian and usually find more help from ask ubuntu threads than I do the actual docs. oh wait one final point. you don't have to go arch based if you want a rolling release distro. debian has an unstable branch called sid. its almost impossible to find the ISO on their website though

Thank you so much for your content! When starting in Linux there’s always a lack of content specifically aimed at new comers. I remember watching videos where they would try and help newcomers but wouldn’t go in to details about what a package manager or a desktop environment are. And honestly, when you come from win/mac, just knowing what a desktop environment is can help a lot.

Tbh for the end user, Debian isn't a great choice. Having good apps pre installed is what most people expect. Distros like endeavor for arch and mint for Debian are the best for less technical people imo
@yadpreet7454
@yadpreet7454 3 ай бұрын
@@spoobspoob2270 Disagree with endeavor, I believe you shouldn't try to use arch until you actually understand your system, as it doesn't hold your hand like Debian or mint, endeavor tries to do that but, fails, since most people are going to run into an issue and break their system, if that's by installing a lot of packages from the AUR, in mint this process is a lot more unavoidable, it's better for newer users to use mint and load up a vm and use arch, and slowly learn it from there.

@@spoobspoob2270 Yeah, that's also a big thing to consider. That's one of the reason why i moved to Solus instead of staying on Zorin/Mint that are often recommended to beginner (for good reason). They are really stable but not really up to date (can't have everything). Solus is semi-rolling release which mean they cherry-pick to avoid the typical "new update broke everything and you have to fix it". I think it's a good compromise. Maybe one day i'll move to Arch-based distro (Cachy OS seems pretty interesting) but i'm not ready and not confident enough + learning how your machine work takes time i don't currently have.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

I'm a weird case. Ubuntu on 2011 or 12 then back to windows. This year back to Linux in this order. Vanilla Arch + KDE. (Yup. I know, but I did it anyway) Fedora + KDE. Debian and Ubuntu on all desktop flavors. Mint, Zorin, and Pop OS included. This is where I said no to gnome and cinnamon. Void Linux + KDE. Tumbleweed + KDE. Back to vanilla Arch + KDE. Haven't moved now. Arch works incredible well for me. Kinda wanna try more, but at the same time I'm learning to settle down for now. I know how to fix things better on Arch than other distros, plus it's easier for me to know which apps and what package manager to use. I could achieve the same on Tumpleweed and Void, if I need to give em another try. Fedora is ok, but in the long run I'm not entirely sold for it. As for the Debian forks, I don't trust the snaps in the future. Don't wanna commit if things are going to be like the Ubuntu way of doing things.

Things would act differently or weird despite there having been no update, and often that would result in things like no sound, being booted back to the GRUB rescue shell, or garbled graphics. Ngl, you should've recommended CachyOS over Garuda, it's better for the purpose of gaming and up-to-date hardware.

Mint. Boring, but works out of the box and has far fewer headaches. Conda works right, (Steam) games work right. For anyone else, keep looking that suits you best.

i borked my windows when trying to rebuild a boot drive to recover my data, but it didn't quite complete for some reason, so it fucked up my main windows aswell. I managed to fix that after hours of hair pulling, but now it won't update, and i really don't want to reinstall it all over again, so i might be switching to Linux soon... iwas eyeing Garuda for a while now, how good is it? Also, i don't have good wifi right now, will Linux recognize the games that are installed on my harddrives? i don't wanna have to redownload everything, especially genshin...

Arch Linux is the best! If you can read and understand English, you should be able to install and use it daily. Seriously, you'd have to be completely clueless not to nail it!

Dude rolling releases != Arch Linux. You cant just list all bad things of rolling releases and are actually talking about issues with Arch Linux specifically in the end.

there's a thing that everybody says about linux "its to hard" or "its to confusing" well of course linux has a little bump on the learning spectrum but the only thing hard is not the distros or linux's fault its just not for u (only the terminal and maybe the installation is a bit hard )
