Nikon F flange to film plane is 46.5 mm, the m42 is 45.46mm you need to mount the lens 1.04 mm closer to the film to work properly. But with a mirror in the way, the pin sticking out and a lens opening about the same size that is not possible. Thus the lens addition to push out the focus plane of a M42 to over 46.5 mm will fix the focus problem The added mount treads was designed for the proper distance knowing most m42 have the A / M switch The cardboard was a good idea but you might want a dark color to prevent adding light refection.

I am having trouble finding adapters for my Pro Tessar lenses. Do they even exist? Is something like that even possible??
@LukeofAllTrades. Жыл бұрын
It's a good question, but unfortunately I don't know anything about Pro Tessar lenses. Good luck in your search!

there are m42 to Ni adapters with infinity glass on them on ali expresses, generic ones, and the picture is bad out of them. is this any better > ?>
@LukeofAllTrades.2 жыл бұрын
I think they're pretty good, but a lot of it depends on the camera lens you're connecting it to. There's some comparison footage at the end of the video, you can see how it compares between the adapter without a lens, and the one with a lens in it.

@@LukeofAllTrades. 👍🏻. I will still give it a shot. I see one on Ali express. It's the same pixco m42-Ni

@@saadomar1101how can you assume something is bad without trying?The camera lens itself contains so many internal lenses already.

Did you find there was any degradation/loss of optical quality using the adapter with a glass element? I saw on a different review there was a significant loss in IQ. Maybe it was just his specific lens/adapter? Thanks
@LukeofAllTrades.2 ай бұрын
I'm sure there was some loss in quality, but it didn't seem real significant to me. Everyone has a different definition of what is significant. I'm sure there are higher quality versions, but I wouldn't count on something being better just because it's more expensive. The section at the end of the video with the sample footage hopefully gives you an idea of the quality, it seems good enough to me!

M42 thread lenght did not alter ..Your new adapter is longer to make it focus at infinity with the new lens adapter.
@LukeofAllTrades.2 жыл бұрын
Very likely it helps, not sure how much the lens in the adapter plays a role too. I would have to take the lens out to really know for sure, but I don't want to tear it up just to test.
