Whitey Tighty is nice because you can compress and blend it other to get great sustain and thickness without crushing your transients. Big fan of that concept

As much as I like the underpants, the other compressor would probably be more useful if I had to pick one.

Very enjoyably demo. Which, in your opinion woukd work best for fast legato playing?

Thanks! I ended up preferring the Keeley, but I don’t mind that it colors my tone a tad more.

You need to crank the blend… as I understand it, it blends the affect with your dry signal… turning it all the way down means all dry… no?
@Hoodrio Жыл бұрын
I don’t remember because I moved that pedal along and kept the Keeley. But whichever way I had it in the video was full compression with no clean signal, because as I think I say in the video, I want a compressor to sound like a compressor and I don’t want any of the clean signal blended in.

The first and best compressor I ever owned was the BBE Orange Squash. Like an idiot, I sold it. I missed having a Compressor and bought the Xotic SP. I liked it a lot, but felt it was a temporary fix until SOMEBODY came out with an FET Comp (NOBODY WAS). Finally, the JHS. I snatched it off the shelf, plugged it in as soon as I got home. Much to my surprise as I kept cross referencing I was forced to accept that the Xotic SP was just better. It was far more transparent even though I had the JHS set to match up w/ my Xotic SP. I would recommend either, but if you ever see an Orange Squash. GRAB IT! Of all the Comp's that I've owned or tried, it's still one that I've always got my eyes peeled for.

Great feedback, thanks! I also regret not buying one of those BBE’s back when they were super affordable. Now people charge more of a premium for them.

I have a Mooer Lite full sized optical that is no longer made. It definitely has more compression than that mini. It will squash the tone really well.

Never heard of it and can't find anything on google

Just out of curiosity, do you think that you would notice the compression more on the jhs pedal if you turned up the blend knob? I am trying to decide which one to get and I’m just wondering if that would make a difference. Good video!
@Hoodrio Жыл бұрын
No, that makes it less noticeable, because you are blending in the uncompressed signal. I’ve actually found that the JHS sounds best with the compression knob between noon and 3 o’clock, but it’s still extremely subtle.

I personally would buy the Keeley, or check out the Wampler mini ego.

So WHY are "We" IGNORING the Electro-Harmonix Pico Platform Compressor?

Well there's more mini comps out there 😅

Never had a compressor pedal, does it really help?
@mrbigg7255 Жыл бұрын
Yes.
@Hoodrio Жыл бұрын
Yes, it evens out the spikes in your playing and can add some body and liveliness to your tone. It also makes any overdrives that come after it smoother.

Nice for my tube amp cleans also tames that heavy pop attack

I can’t play without one. It’s like those dreams when you’re at school in your underwear… ironically. It increases your sustain.
