My brother went to the cottonfield fieldtrip (we're white) and yeah they made everyone do it. I was sent to the mines but like an outdoor safe one that showed how gold was sifted. We used some smaller pickaxe on clay at the time. It thankfully wasn't racist and showed what the labor was like. Thinking back on it I can see how that looks not so great though lmao. This was the early 2000s I was 6 and he was 8 if I remember right.
