I am a cheapskate.... I mean budget guy when it comes to packs and I have 2 of the Alps packs. One is called the traverse which is a big day pack with a middle extension to slide meat in between your pack and internal frame. The other Alpz I use is a 90 liter (maybe called the Cascade) intended for backpacking but works great for a spike camp with room to haul some meat. I live in Colorado and get to hunt in some amazing and wild places. In the mountains for elk, foothills for deer and the plains for pronghorn. The only thing I have never considered is a tree stand so it is enlightening to hear from you guys that hunt that style.

I picked up the pop up 28 on sale from Go Hunt last year. I love it, easily hauled a quartered up doe with it last December.

Another pack I’ll throw in there is the Mystery Ranch Sawtooth 45, it’s a full frame pack so you can swap out the bags if you go out west I like the bag layout with extra pockets and the straps are perfect for holding sticks and a platform. Got mine second hand on a forum brand new with tags for $225. Only downside is the material is a little crunchy for a whitetail pack and it’s more difficult to climb with the pack on due to the frame, but after a little bit I forgot I had the pack on, I just loosen the hip belt and attach my sticks to the hip belt with carabiners and zip ties on the skeletors so it’s all one hand going up the tree

I'd love to see a review of actual budget backpacks.

I have searched high and low for budget pack packs that are able to haul meat and I have not found one. There was one made by Tidewe that was discontinued. In my opinion, if you are not hauling meat, any old Walmart backpack will do for saddle hunting.

First, I looked high and low for a budget backpack that would meet the qualifications laid out in this video. There are tons of budget backpacks that work for hunting, but not so many that work well for hunting and hauling meat. I found one made by Tidewe that fit the budget category, but when it has since been discontinued and there is no point in reviewing a product that isn’t available. I was as diss appointed as you are to not be able to provide a budget option. Second, please watch this video to understand my feelings on what Budget means and what my channel stands for. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bouxcoB8iNWmd7M

@@TheBudgetSportsman I completely understand when there are no options, and I understand the channel. Sometimes we have to use top tier gear. I've been a subscriber since you got your budget boat. That was a great example of a budget setup. Frame packs are pretty much non-existent anymore, so if you need to pack out a quarter, it can be tough finding something that works.

I just got rid of a backpack that I used to use for years. I dumped a bottle of deer pee in it by mistake so left it in my storage unit. I am done hunting now so this morning I left it outside
