My suggestion for a brand to give attention to is Altra. Mostly, if not all, zero drop, and they have room for your toes. I have the Escalante 4 and the Lone Peak 7.

Word of caution to anyone buying Rebel v4's online without trying them on: my experience with mine was that they are both shorter and wider than other shoes in the New Balance line. I ended up having to return my usual size for a half size larger and lacing them tighter to account for the wider toe box. After doing that though, they've been great daily trainers for me!

Great tip! We would always recommend trying running shoes on in a store to make sure they fit right

I wore the SC Elite v4 on Sunday for Auckland Marathon - maybe not the crazy violent speed of other super-shoes, but they were still super comfortable even after 42.2km .... ...and the 1080's are unrivaled in their softness for daily trainer/recovery runs! Awesome shoes!!!!

Could you create a video on how to maximize performance during downhill sections of a race? I often see plenty of tips on tackling uphill challenges, but not much focus on descending. It would be fantastic to learn about the physics of the best form for downhill running, especially how to maintain speed while minimizing impact on the knees. Thanks for all the great content you provide!

👟 loved this video! I recently got my first pair of new balances the sc v3s and have been really pleased with them. I was worried about venturing away from my usual altras with their wide toe box and zero drop, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Buying running shoes..firstly comfort is priority..so ,toe box volume, width of midfoot and stability in the heel plus heel to toe drop are the main considerations...everything else after that is minor and the more smoke and mirrors you want the more you will pay...New Balance like most manufacturers make decent shoes...i do find i generally have to go a full size up with NB...interesting video

I'm really baffled how pretty much all of the New Balance line up videos don't even mention the EVOZ in this lineup. They are a bit of a mix between a 1080 and an 880, also with Fresh Foam X, and comes in around £20-£30 cheaper. I think they are at a more affordable price bracket for most runners and they are a more realistic entry point for beginner runners or those who have a tighter budget, while still being every bit as good as an 880 or 1080.

@michaelcannon64Ай бұрын
They are not worth the money because due to the design of the sole I didn't do 1 run that I didn't get stones lodged in the sole of the shoes. Probably be okay if you just stick to the track but if your paying big money for a shoe & can't change up your route then I don't think it's worth it & I know plenty of others that have experienced the same problem.

Thanks for your message Andy - this is a fully editorial piece that we weren’t paid to create, and a format we’re hoping to repeat for other brands’ ranges to help give a good understanding and insight into the different shoes/brands out there, and what may suit different runners best. We would always do our best to stick to our editorial policy, including clearly tagging every piece of content which is part of a paid partnership.
