The Sharks are not relocating lol. How you could even suggest it is beyond me. Yes they’re experiencing bad attendance, but have you seen them play the last few years? They’re about halfway through a rebuild and good times will return. Hasso Plattner is the second richest owner in the league and he is not afraid to hand out cash, or at least he gave Doug Wilson the keys to the bank whenever he wanted. He’s so rich that he gave his own company the arena naming rights. The only way they relocate is if he sells the team or they lose money for 15 years.

Before the NHL returned to Winnipeg, the city had the CFL, AHL and Independent baseball. The market was balanced and all three teams drew comparable numbers over the course of their respective seasons, around 250,000 per team. The moment the NHL returned to Winnipeg, it became a CLEARLY over-saturated market. Winnipeg has since got a new basketball team in the CEBL - which plays in the Jets' home building - and actually set attendance records for their league in the team's inaugural season. It also has a new CPL soccer team which, given the folding of the franchise in Edmonton, I just don't see the league surviving long-term. If you compare what Winnipeg has compared to the likes of Quebec City and Hamilton, it's plain to see that Winnipeg has more than its fair share of sports teams. Nowhere in Canada is the competition for the sports entertainment dollar more fierce than in it is in Winnipeg, and with post-Covid inflation taking its toll on people's finances, it's going to be a struggle for the market to keep all those franchises profitable. Here's a rough estimation of the total fans required by sports teams in Winnipeg in order to break even in a typical year: Jets: 600,000 Blue Bombers: 250,000 Moose (AHL): 200,000 Goldeyes (AAIB): 200,000 Sea Bears (CEBL): 50,000 Total: 1.3 million fans in a market of 835,000

This is probably the worst researched video I’ve seen The Sharks are actually one of two teams in San Jose. They have an MLS team, The Earthquakes, and the 49ers play in Santa Clara the city adjacent to it, the team’s owner is the second wealthiest in the league and has stated on record the team would never leave San Jose, and the city you refer to as “quirky” is the 3rd largest city in California and the 12th largest city in the United States….

If Anaheim ever moves, they will more than likely move down to San Diego because San Diego is one of the biggest and most untapped markets in North American sports without an NHL team right next to Orange County, as well as the fact that it's a huge hockey market. Their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, is consistently near the top of AHL attendance.

The Panthers arena is clearly getting old at like 31 years old but they're in a pretty busy area in the western Broward suburbs,just across the street from the arena is Sawgrass Mills an outlet mall that rivals Disney World in how many people go there yearly so the location is good but if they were to rebuild the arena there would they share the Heat arena during construction,theyve played so long in western Broward it would be weird to see them back in Miami,or maybe they could just do a refurb of the arena.

This man just doesn't understand. I'm sure he has never been to San Jose-with what's going on right now there'll be BART coming to the nearby San Jose Diridon Station (SJC), and there's of course, Amtrak, Caltrain and even Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), so strategically there can be fans from Stockton and Merced too. (Let's not forget the VERY SLOW build of the high-speed rail being built in California- San Jose will be its stop when completed, and some will say that Diridon will be the Grand Central Station of the West.) I know, it is a few years of rebuilding and it's the most horrific record ever for the franchise winning only 19 games, but they do have lots of potential and with the current TV right of NBC Sports California what would be a megapolis of San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose-Sacramento-Monterey (and a tiny possibility of Fresno or Bakersfield and even up to Crescent City), hockey is key for the NHL in Northern California, and it's extremely unlikely for them to leave the sixth largest metro population's US Media market. They may not have to attend-they can always follow on TV, radio or online whether or not the team is good. Let us not forget it's growing in the area for talent-this year, there is rookie goalie Devin Cooley playing for the Sharks and he's from the suburb of Los Gatos. It's inevitable-every team will have a down year. But to simply have the Sharks be moving out because of attendance and not so much interest because it was an expected rebuild is sheer ridiculousness. Besides, Hasso Plattner is CEO of SAP and owns the team. It is understandable that soon the SAP Center will have to be replaced, but with the infrastructure-three airports, many rail systems, a diverse freeway system, lots of public transportation-including a possibility of going to and from San Jose by ferry in the future, lots of local restaurants and lodging for the visitors in San Jose and its associated two other large Bay Area cities, the city has hosted the All-Star game twice so far, and the fanbase is passionate enough to last a very long time, this is

Sharks will not be leaving San Jose. Sharks have a huge presence in SF Bay Area, youth hockey program in 3 different locations and San Jose Barracuda, AHL Minor League team as well.
@rickgray57317 ай бұрын
The Sharks & city of San Jose just sunk $300 million on the Sharks ice, which is 5 miles from the SAP center. They added a 4,200 seat area and added 2 more sheets of ice to the complex. The Arena was for their minor league, AHL Barracuda. I've talked to Jonathan Becher, the president of the Sharks, who says they were worried about Google & the tech center that has now been canceled. Becher invisions a MSG type retrofit of SAP center. The location is perfect, with the trasit hub directly across the street and parking options all around the arena. The Sharks poor attendance is directly attributed to their on ice performance. They aren't going anywhere.
