Which One is Better? GWN-Q1000 Gulfmaster vs GWG-1000 Mudmaster Comparison

I have both watches.The gulfmaster is more elegant and beautiful, especially the composite bracelet models.The gulfmaster has alot better background light,lumes are the same but the mudmaster is a bit easier to read in the dark. That said the design of the gulfmaster makes it alot more prone to damage,or actually not damage but scratching up the bezels.The mudmaster feels more robust like it will not look tatty from the same abuse,and the plastic case will most likely be cheaper to replace. The buttons on the mudmaster is more harder to operate,you really haft to push them,i suspect this has to do with the dirt protection.The buttons work a bit different and use different locations for the same thing,i find the mudmaster alot more easy to operate in,although the display and indication is better or the gulfmaster. With the gulfmaster i keep pushing buttons until i find the right function and it all seems a bit unlogical. The mudmaster felt right at home after one hour.The gulfmaster offers more functions,namely sunset&rise,moon and possibly more,this explains some of the harder navigating.The mudmaster offers more keep it simple stupid logic. The gulfmaster has seen 3 years of very hard abuse with no problems,the resin strap has some coating peeling of which looks tatty and is a bit disappointing.I have used the gulfmaster wrenching cars,mountainbiking,working,diving,kept it on in a sauna(80C and humid) and all it has to tell is a few small nicks in the resin case and some scratches on the stainless bezel.Cant comment on the mudmaster longevity since i just bought it in almost new condition. I dont really need the dive function and if i had to buy just one watch it would be mudmaster just because i would not remove it when im doing something that will scratch the bezel, and im more of a function that looks kinda guy. The gulfmaster has a carbon resin case which has held up very well,its supposed to be better than the resin case on the mudmaster. The stainless bezel on the gulf is what will get scratched up with use.Since on the gulfmaster has its stainless watch case exposed,i would quess it would not endure as hard hit as the mudmaster where the resin case will give some cushioning from the shock effect. Both watches are really good and looking high end,lookswise they are really equal to me,but thats comparing a scratched up gulfmaster to a pristine mudmaster that still has that new watch feeling.When i bought the gulfmaster i had that ave feeling where you just admire its beauty all the time,its long gone now and the mudmaster does not stir up as strong feelings now. Both watches are equal in size,big and bulky but still comfortable on my small wrist. In the end i would say its all about what you are after and what kind of use.Get the gulfmaster if you want a more classy watch with more functions,but dont want fiddling for the functions and not expect to trash it.Get the mudmaster if you want more of a g shock look,simplicity and expect to absolutely trash the watch. Fun fact,i work at the sea but will still use the mudmaster for work,the marine functions are quite useless to me.The functions i need is found on both watches. Plan is to upgrade the gulfmaster with the composite band and use it as my everyday watch,boating etc,and use the mudmaster at work and really damaging use like mountain biking etc.If you buy the gulfmaster then get the composite brazelet model,its superior to the resin strap although you have a larger risk of the band failing than he strap.

Quality and tech wise the Gulfmaster wins for a few reasons: Updated module,compass has compensation whics means that it is working even when the watch is tilted. The body of the gulfmaster is carbon fiber reinforced plastic vs regular plastic for the mudman. The buttons can be pushed under water while diving for example because it has tripple gaskets at the butons. It does not have that lock screw which is not so great. One great feature of the gulfmaster,in fact it is the only g shock with this feature,you can set the interval for the baro graph between 30 min and 2 h The bezel on the gulfmaster however compared to mudman is a scratch magnet. Dust and sand will get between the buttons. You can get a faulty module with the gufmaster,meaning issues with the hour hand position.

Love my Mudmaster. Compass, barometer and altimiter are actually useable bushwalking to know direction, changing weather and how close to a summit I am. Easy to use. Great backlight.. unlike my King G-Shock.

Great video! I own the Mudmaster GWG-1000 and the Frogman GWF-D1000B and one thing is certain; the Frogman will definitely survive any abuse you could think of. No wonder why its price tag beats even the new gadget-loaded Rangeman.

Love my Mudmaster and i prefer it, but that's because I live in a landlocked, arid state, so no diving for me. It is absolutely essential for hiking IMO. Great video and subscribed!

The correct answer is if you want a watch for water/ocean go frogman with triple sensor if you want land features go mud master if you do both land and water jobs the go with gulfmaster as it has abc functionality plus depth meter moon graph and tide graph I’ve owned the exact gulfmaster in this video in the exact color and my only issue was it quit charging to high and I could only get it to medium no matter how long it was left in direct sunlight or a solar watch charger I own the triple sensor frogman and the rangeman right now and I never wear my frogman because the features are useless to me except for the compass and tide graph as I live on the coast I more so prefer land features such as abc and if I had to pick between these 2 it would be the gulf master 10000% because you get the best of both worlds and I wish Casio would make more watches with every sensor in them including tough solar and the gulfmaster is 1 of the only watches they make with pretty much every sensor possible in it plus tough solar. Sorry for the long answer just wanted to be thorough

I live in Colorado too. But I also travel to costal and island areas. My summary is the Gulfmaster is more of an overall adventurer's watch, not just for the coast guard. While the Mudmaster is more of a "land tough-mudder's watch". Looks aside, I'd only go for the Mudmaster if I was going to really spend all my time in the mud, or was often wiping out on mountain bikes, climbing, etc... it takes the knocks and scratches better. But the Mudmaster would really get highest marks in my book if it included sunrise/sunset like the Rangemaster (not sure why it's missing) and moon phase -- these, and the carbon fiber in the strap (like the frogman). When it comes to looks, I find the Gulfmaster more elegant (if you can call a G-Shock that), and the Mudmaster more "combat".

It's kinda hard to say which one is better because the watches are made for two different environments, the Gulfmaster ➡️ 🚢 & the Mudmaster ➡️⛰️. You have to match these watches to other models in their class. I like both of them 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

The Gulfmaster is built with higher quality components than the Mudmaster. I just did a total tear down and compared the crowns and weight of parts and this made me come to my determination. The buttons on the Gulfmaster make the Mudmaster buttons feel like they are plastic.

Yes. I have a gulf master. But I read up the mud master and it’s ok as well to press the buttons only. Don’t unscrew or go underwater with it unscrewed.
