I'd disagree with the beginners advice. Don't get clean. Get something that can do clean AND overdrive.

If you buy a Vox unit, get the extension cable at the same time, or ASAP. I snapped 2 connectors off like dry twigs. They pop off like dandelion heads, even with minimal hits.

I use the vox clean model for jazz - and I also use it directly into a JVC 20W bluetooth speaker, via the aux input. It even works well to bring up my Crafter FX-550 which needs a bit more bass!

I have many pedals, and a tube amp :) but this VOX Amplug 2 metal is a cool toy :D I can sit on my couch and play something without disturbing other people :) And I really like the sound :)
@waterhead10272 жыл бұрын
It is a cool toy. I bought a Danner "Heavy Metal" once to save a few bucks when I broke a Vox metal, and it wasn't even close. The Danner sounded, at the most, like classic rock. I keep it for backup, but I bought a new Vox.

I've been looking around for the best headphone amp for my classical guitar from traveler guitars. It has Piezo pickups and I don't know if that's going to make a difference with the model I pick. Ideally, I'd like to find an amp that works for both my classical guitar, and my electric guitar that I use mostly for metal. But if I have to buy two I will. Which model would you recommend?
@the-np4mr2 жыл бұрын
For hair metal, the Valeton honestly would work decent. It seems to have a decent amount of compression that makes me wish I knew motley crue riffs whenever I go onto the distortion channel

Thank you for this vídeo!!! I have ordered today the Vox Classic Rock! I am sure this is what i need!!! I play in two different projects, one is a Hard Rock, catchy, kind of sound, and the second one is a Metal/Hardcore sound! Using it for practicing at home!! Cheers and RockOn!! 🤘🤘🤘

I have both, too. With my classic rock unit, I try to channel my inner Malcolm Young. it sounds to me like he designed it. The settings I have on my metal one sound like my old MXR distortion.

Which one should I use if I need clean, crunch (for rock) and metal? Which is the most versatile one?
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I would say either the classic rock or the valeton rushead max. The classic rock has better clean tones. The valeton can get heavier gain for metal.

Will the headphone Amps work well with Classical Nylon Electric Guitar ????? For classical / folk / pop

If you can plug it in it should work. I never knew they had an electric version for classical guitars, but I guess it makes sense since they have regular acoustic electric guitars.

I'm the same way with the new tech. Today I was lost. I found an amp with a lot of great effects, but it ran thru a telephone and Bluetooth. The comments were talking about "Metronome latency" type things, and there were connectivity problems. I'm not setting up a studio, so I'm pacing myself.

What do you think would be the best balance between metal and clean tones? Like opeth. I know none are a one trick pony, just want something for practicing

My recommendations for multiple genres is usually the valeton or if you have a bit more, the fender mustang micro. I have a review of both on my channel if you want to check it out. 😊

Hi, thankyou for your very informative video, what would be the most suitable model for acoustic guitar? (other brands are acceptable as well)
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I would probably go with the Vox clean model for an acoustic electric guitar. I don't tend to use much effects with acoustics, so the delay and reverb are enough.
@MZmytube34433 жыл бұрын
In terms of cleaner tone at zero gain which one is better among vox amplug2 metal and lead?
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I think the Lead has less gain than the Metal at 1 Gain. It would probably have even clearer tones when you roll off your guitar's volume.

@@GrowWithGuitar hey!! Thanks for the reply. After watching a lot of your videos, I made the same conclusion but sadly the Classic Rock variant isn't available in my country right now. The AC30 is, though. And I'm buying a guitar soon. So I thought I'll buy this along with it to test. Do you think the AC30 will be fine? Do you think my idea of getting this is fine?
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Yes that would be fine too. It just doesn't have as good of a clean tone. If it is available, I would check the valeton rushead max. It has a lot more effect options.

Hi Thanks for the very nice video. I bought the Clean VOX. The sound is good, however it's very noisy when I'm not playing. I can hear a constant uuuuuummmmm. Is this normal ? this happens on the others too? Thanks.
@GrowWithGuitar2 жыл бұрын
It could be from your guitar. Try tapping your guitar knobs and if the Hum volume goes up and down, you can look up on Google about guitar grounding. I am not too knowledgeable about how to fix it physically, but I know some people use noise gate pedals to reduce it.

Thanks a lot for your reviews. They are really helpful for me. At the moment I cannot decide wether to buy the Valeton Rushead Max or the Ammoon Pockrock. Which one would you choose?
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I still have to review the Ammoon PockRock, so I'm not sure about the tones, but in terms of versatility, the pockrock has a few more options for effects, built in drum patterns, and a tuner. I do find that the shape of the valeton is better and it is slightly more portable. Another difference is that you need a guitar cable to plug into the pockrock, while you don't need one for the valeton. So, how you use them is a little bit different. For the pockrock, you have clear visuals of the controls since you can place it right in front of you. For the Valeton, you might not have clear visuals of the controls if your guitar output is on the bottom of your guitar. But you can get a 1/4" extension cord to put it on a desk and have clear visuals. The pockrock is either powered by 2 AAA batteries or a 9v power supply, but the valeton is usb rechargeable. So, apart from the tones, it really depends on what features are more important to you and what you might have to buy or not buy for your choice. If you are fine with not having the extra features on the pockrock, the valeton could be enough and it is cheaper, especially if you are just starting out and don't have a guitar cable or 9v dc power supply. Personally, I would go with the Valeton Rushead Max because, in some ways, it is easier to use and change tones with the switches, whereas the pockrock just seems like it has a lot more buttons and knobs that I don't really need. Plus, rechargeable battery is always a plus to me. Here is a link to the products: 1) Ammoon PockRock: amzn.to/3doIlOh (affiliate link) 2) Valeton Rushead Max: amzn.to/3quxLu6 (affiliate link) 3) 1/4" Extension Cable: amzn.to/35SFXfA (affiliate link)

Can you plug the amplug into any amplifier? I got the Blackstar Fly 2 amplug.
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
No, you can't plug it into an amp. The plug goes into the guitar or at the end of a pedal. If you want to connect it to an amp, you would need a 3.5mm to 1/4" cable to go from the headphone out to the amp. That's what I did to record the headphone amp to my audio interface.

The Vox amplug 2 Cabinet should work with the Fender Mustang Micro. You plug it into where it says "Amplug In." Then connect the headphone out into the Aux in of the amplug 2 cabinet. Then you plug your guitar into the Amplug 2 cabinet.

What would be the closet tone to John Frusciante?
@GrowWithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I think the Valeton Rushead Max would be the most versatile in getting his tone. You have a greater range of gain, so you can get overdrive or distortion. With the Red Hot Chili Pepper stuff, it is more overdrive, but I saw a lot of his own songs with solos had higher gain. Not as much as metal, but definitely more gain. Otherwise, if you are looking for just Red Hot Chili Pepper stuff, you can go with the Vox Classic Rock model. Tip-use the neck and bridge pickup together to get a warmer/creamer tone like him.
