Which paper is best for your Black and White images? - Fotospeed | Paper for Fine Art & Photography

I print on an Epson P800 and started printing with the Hahn FAB a couple of month back for my landscape photography...stunning. I was blown away. Prior to that my go to paper was the Canson Prestige 340! I still love that paper but honestly, for my taste, the Hahn FAB with the texturing is a step above. But to each their own. Great review.

Nice run through Tim, but not really helpful in making a decision! As you say, best to try a few and see which works for you. One of my favourites for black and white is the Fotospeed Photo Smooth Pearl. No idea if it 'should' work, but it does. As per your findings, my ET8550 performs better in mono with the bespoke profiles in standard print mode than in Epson B&W mode. Thanks for sharing, tell us more about your exhibition....

Hi Tim, I only have a Canon Pixma pro 100 & I am about to start a B&W steam train project. Probably high key type edit. Now I am aware that this printer does not have the new B&W mode. Which paper would you advise. I am a platinum etching fan for colour, but this might be too warm possibly. I have Fotospeed Baryta & NST Bright white.

Just wondering - have you tried Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White? Same Photo Rag texture, but brighter.

The Photo Rag bright White is a lovely paper and great for black and whites. Tim

Seems that Hahnemühle bright white lavelled papers have optical brighteners !
